more look before heading over to see what's behind the couch. Tex freezes as Caroline crawls to the front so Sam can't see her. "Who knows what will happen to her it we don't pay. She's as defenseless as a chipmunk on a rainy day." Caroline hides on the left of the couch but Sam can clearly see her feet and tail. "Defenseless as a chipmunk with Collie paws and tail?" Tex smiles weakly, "Collie paws and tail?" "That looks alot like the behind of Miss Caroline Clamskey."
Sam grabs Caroline's tail and pulls her into view. The Smooth Collie smiles weakly before Tex spoke as if surprised, "Oh my! Why goodness me! Caroline, did those reckless kidnappers let you go my sugar babe?" The hound hugs her before she said hastily, "It's no good, Tex. Any idiot could have figured it out by now." The 2 sighed before Sam cleared his throat.
Caroline explained, "We wanted to prove to Uncle Horace how much Tex loved me." "I could have saved her from kidnappers, he'd surely let me marry Caroline." Tex finished. Sam growled before he slammed Tex face first onto the tile. The hound tried to get up but the German Shepherd growled. Caroline tried to shove him off of Tex but Tex growled to keep her away. "So instead you bumped him off?" Sam snapped. "Now wait a minute!" Caroline growled. "I would never do such a thing! Caroline's been down in the cellar and I had to spend the nights with Mirabelle!" Sam let him up and asked, "Another woman?" Caroline's ears flickered sideways before she snapped, "His horse, detective." "So you're the one that sent the note?" Tex and Caroline nodded before Caroline spoke, "Now we don't know what to do!"
Sam put his paw to his chin and thought before he said, "But this still could come in handy. The killer is probably in it for the money." Tex and Caroline smiled and their tail starts to wag hard. "So it's a trap?" Tex asked. Sam nodded before he answered, "That's right, partner! Maybe it'll lure the killer out in the open." Caroline smiled brightly, "It might work. And you won't say anything, Mr. Slade?" Sam smiled half-heartily before he answered, "I may be hard boiled, but I got a soft heart." Caroline hugged Sam before she kissed Tex. The 2 lovebirds galloped up the stairs. Sam chuckled before Mr. Wilton and Mrs. Wilton came walking into the lobby. Mrs. Wilton didn't look so happy and Mr. Wilton seemed tired. "Mr. Slade did the Beaupree sisters have a right to chase my little Rodney?" "If that was my kid I would have put him on the ice long ago." Sam spoke. Mrs. Wilton gasped before she snapped, "Did you here that George?" "I wished I heard that long ago!" Mr. Wilton barked. Mrs. Wilton gave her husband a look before Mr. Wilton walked off to find the pups. Sam not wanting to be left with the crabby retriever trotted up the stairs.
Mrs. Wilton looks around to make sure no one was watching before she walked over to the front desk. She quickly went behind the desk to where the phone was. She picked up the phone and was about to dial before Holly walked into the lobby. "I didn't know the phones were working." Mrs. Wilton quickly put it down. "It's not but what's new in the kidnapping case?" Holly replied, "There's a ransom note of $10,000." Mrs. Wilton's face went pale before she spoke, "$10,000?" "Are you alright Mrs. Wilton?" Holly asked. Before she could answer, Sam was coming back down the stairs and going to the indoor garden. "I haven't eaten for a while." "I'll get you a cream cheese croissant." Holly said before she went to the kitchen. Mrs. Wilton breathed a sigh before she started to look through the desk. Just then the Clown came out from behind the curtain of the French window. It starts to move in like a crouching leopard. Before it could attack it heard Sam Slade coming back from the garden. It quickly hid behind the screen close to the stairs. Mrs. Wilton gets out from behind the desk and starts to move to the stairs but screams when Sam tapped her shoulder. "A bit jumpy?" "For crying out loud Mr. Slade, after 2 murders and a kidnapping what do you expect." "Just a question to ask, Miss Clamskey was telling Lila that you seem...familiar?" "I don't know any of these people!" Why do I get a feeling she's lying? Why do I get the feeling I'm being watched? He thought before he looks around the lobby. Mrs. Wilton tenses but as he checks behind the screen he falls to the ground knocked out. "Mr. Slade?" She walked over to him and checked his pulse. "Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Too bad you're not dead you nosy mutt. But I must say you're handsome." She started to make her way to the desk but then the clown softly followed her with a scarf in his mouth. Mrs. Wilton froze as she senses something wrong...very wrong. The clown quickly wrapped the scarf around her neck and dragged her behind the screen. She struggled but then her body fell out in view. Holly was humming as she came into the lobby. "Mrs. Wilton?" She screamed as she sees the dead dog on the ground. Sam quickly sat up. "Try to grab a nap and you'd think it's bloody murder!" Holly whimpered as she stared at the dead Mrs. Wilton with the scarf wrapped around her neck. Sam looked where she was looking at and his eyes widen. "Uh-oh!"
