The Story of Taren

Part Two 

As Taren sprinted off along the beach heading for Nome, Kodi and Dusty struggled to catch up.  When Taren tore up the sand running past the washed up fishing boat, Kodi quickly yelled at him, "STOP!"

Taren quickly dug his front and back left paws into the sand, and his body quickly 180'd around.  It happened so fast, Kodi couldn't believe his eyes.  He stood there with his jaw dropped and eyes wide.

"What?!" Taren asked. "You told me to stop!"

Kodi realized Taren had paid no attention when he told him he was part wolf. He realized that his instincts and reflexes were extremely quick. 

"Well, this is where your dad, Balto, lives," Kodi said.  Taren shook his head in disbelief as he looked up towards the boat.  He had no clue that someone was living there, let alone his own DAD. As Dusty and Taren walked up to the deck of the boat, Kodi sprinted ahead and yelled, "Daaad! You won't believe this!"

There was no answer.

Kodi quickly ran around the whole boat, looking for any trace of Balto.  But there was none.  

"Oh!" Kodi yelped with a hint of stupidity.  "It's Monday. Dad went into town to check up on Jenna."

Kodi sprinted down and off the boat, with Dusty and Taren following close behind. But then Taren thought differently of himself, thinking that he sshould be in front.  He took off leaving Dusty and Kodi in the dust..........

or so he thought.

He was quickly surprised as he looked back to see DUSTY sprint past him.  As she ran by, Taren's fur seemed to freeze as a gust of wind sped past him.  He quickly spun around to slow down....

and ran into Kodi.

SMACK!

"What the heck-OOof!" Kodi tried to scream as Taren slammed into him. As the dust settled, Taren looked out toward Nome. There was Dusty, just slowing down and turning around looking shocked at herself. Taren couldn't believe his eyes.  He thought for a moment.

"Hmmm... if I run fast because of my wolf bloodline, could Dusty be..."

"HEY! ARE YOU ENJOYING SQUISHING ME???!!!" someone yelled from underneath Taren. HE lost his train of thought as he looked down to see he was sitting on Kodi. 
"Oops.." Taren sheepishly said.

"Come On!" Dusty yelled from the outskirts of the town. "Let's get a move on!

As the trio headed into town, Taren looked around himself in awe. There were so many buildings that were erected from wood. Taren followed Kodi and Dusty through the town filled with creatures unknown to Taren. (humans.) Taren saw that many of them ran over to Kodi and Dusty and started to pat them on the head and hug them. Taren looked shocked at this, and thought the strange creatures were trying to take them away. He quickly ran and jumped in between Kodi and the chilidren. Unfourtanetly for him, they started to "kidnap" him too. He cried for help as Kodi reluctantly helped him up after laughing hard over to the side. 

"Very Funny...." Taren mumbled sarcastically to Kodi.

"Get used to it, bro! The kids here love us huskies!" Kodi said.

They moved on, and headed toward Jenna's house. Sure enough, there was Balto, with Jenna right beside him.  As Kodi told them about Taren, Jenna and Balto ran over to greet their long lost son. With tears streaming down her eye's, Jenna told Taren that she knew one day he would be found.

That day was the happiest day of Taren's life.  After they ate, Taren showed Balto and Jenna just what had happened to him.  He went on a long run with Balto and Kodi through the forest.  He then met his other brothers, Dingo, Dakota, and Saba.  But then he asked to Balto:
"Didn't I have another sister, one who looked like a wolf" 

Balto replied, "Taren, your sister Aleu is leading a wolf pack out by Russia."

"Oh. So I may never meet her."

"Now that's not true." Jenna said." Last I heard, Aleu was leading her pack back towards Nome right now!"

Taren was filled with the urge to meet his wolf sister, and asked where the pack would be stopping.

"About a hundred miles from Nome." answered Balto. 

So Taren made up his mind to travel with Kodi and Dusty out to see Aleu and her pack.  But they would need a long rest before the journey could start.

As Taren slept by the burning fire, he had another dream. He saw two huskies sitting on top of the falls where he once called home. They both were sitting next to two other dogs. One of the dogs got up to leave.....

and slipped.

The dog fell down to the collection of water below, howling something all the way. Before she hit, Taren woke with a start. It was morning. Kodi and Dusty were looming over him, eager to get going. Taren got up and headed out, totally forgetting about his dream, and his ability to look into the past and future. 

As he walked out, Taren had no clue that this quick trip would turn into the adventure of his lifetime.
