Aniu ran away from everything as Balto did next to her, he cried because of what happened. He and Silver Moon were playing hide and seek, then suddenly their pack is ambushed by dogs. They ran through the forest not knowing that dogs were tracking there scent. Finally they tired and decided to rest. Aniu digged a den so they could live in it. She went out and came back with a white rabbit. Both of them ate it. Days passed as they were still getting used to the enviroment. Aniu was sniffing something.
Balto: " Mama, what are you smelling?"
Aniu: " Shhh, Balto. Hunters are near."
He looked out the den and saw two figures in the distance. One of them was holding a figure, it looked like a silver wolf.
Man: " Yeah, I think this one had a white pup."
Aniu gasped at this, no, Island? Caught? She silently let out a tear at the thought of her friend dead. What about Silver Moon? She must've survived since the hunters didn't have another wolf.
Hunter: " I brought the dogs, we'll track down more wolves."
Man: " Good, I caught this wolf four days ago. It must be a female since it had a pup."
Aniu was now determined. Island's puppy was the closest thing she had to her friend.
Aniu: " Balto, tomorrow we're going to look for Silver Moon."
Balto: " Yes. (he thinks) Why?"
Aniu: " I'll tell you when you're older."
Balto nodded and both went to sleep. The next day they had an early start. Aniu and Balto walked through the snow as a fog cleared in.
Balto: " Mama? Do you know were Silver is?"
Aniu: " No, but we have to try... *sniff sniff* Balto, run, now!"
He started off as her mom followed. Barks were heard in the distance. They ran as it got closer. Soon enough, a gunshot was heard as snow jumped near Balto. He just ran faster as another one was heard.
Hunter: " Look! A white one, it'll be a real prize!!"
Balto looked back as dogs ran towards him, he felt being lift from the ground and looked as his mom kicked snow while running. Another gunshot was heard and Aniu fell dropping Balto. He was hit against a tree. Aniu limped over and talked to Balto.
Aniu: " Balto, my son. Be brave and remember to be proud of your wolf heritage. Do the same with your husky heritage and hold on tight."
Balto nodded as everything went black.
A blanket of snow shook as Balto got up. His head hurt and he didn't remember anything except her mother and what she told him. He walked towards the way he came, not noticing a puddle of red connected to a trail that lead the other way. He walked more than he thought and soon found a little town. He looked and found a wrecked boat at the side and began walking towards it until a slap made him look around.
Animal: " Get away, wild animal and leave my house! I don't want wolves living in my only home!"
Balto: " No, no. You don't understand, I'm half dog."
Animal: " Half dog eh? Well, I'll let you visit my place."
Balto: " I'm Balto, by the way."
Animal: " Name's Boris."
Balto smiled and walked up into the cabin. The next day he wanted to explore the town so he snuck out and went early. The town didn't have much people out so early so it was calm. Balto found a trash can and sniffed inside it. Then, it was knocked down and rolled. Finally Balto came out dizzy.
Balto: " Woah, Hey! What'd you do that for?"
He stared angrily at a black and white malamute with a brown husky, a tan husky next to him and a gray dog behind the malamute.
Malamute: " Oh, sorry. Didn't know wolfdogs had feelings."
The other dogs laughed.
Tan husky: " Steele, you are the funniest, the greatest, the smartest, the coolest..."
Gray husky: " You're the best!"
The dog bonked him as he fell.
Balto: " Sorry, I'm new around here. My name's Balto."
Steele: " As you have heard, I'm Steele."
Balto: " I'm new, so no. I haven't heard."
Dogs: " Ooooh."
Steele: " hmmph. You're on my list, wolfdog. And it ain't pretty."
He pushed Balto aside and walked away. The others did the same. Balto pushed the trash can up and kept on exploring. He looked around and saw a female red husky with a bandanna around her neck playing with her owner. The little red-headed girl called her Jenna. She was cute, was a thought that crossed his mind. The girl noticed Balto.
Girl: " Hey Jenna, look! A new friend. Hello puppy, my name is Rosy and this is Jenna."
Balto barked.
Rosy: " Come on! Let's go in my house! You'll like it."
Balto and Jenna followed Rosy into the house, her parents weren't home.
Rosy: " Mommy and daddy are out. Doing an aclount."
They headed upstairs and entered a room. Rosy opened a trunk full of different costumes.
Rosy: " Let's play dressup!"
Rosy put a tiara on Jenna, and gave her a wand. Then she put a blue blanket on Balto, and gave him a crown.
Rosy: " I'm the queen, Jenna's the princess and you're the handsome prince that rescues her."
They played around all day, Balto would play with a worn out toy when he had the chance. They played dress up and then tea party (something that Balto enjoyed because they used real food) and then tag, when finished, they started to clean up. Rosy's parents got and saw them cleaning up. They were a bit upset when they saw Balto.
Rosy's dad: " Rosy? who is this?"
Rosy: " He's a pup I found, and he played with us. Can I keep him?"
Rosy's mother: " No, sweetheart. You can't just let a puppy in and say if you can keep him."
Rosy: " Awww, please?"
Rosy's father: " No, and didn't I ask you to toss this blanket and cat toy?"
Rosy: " Mr. Fuzzlehead said he didn't like that."
Rosy's father: " He'll get a new blanket."
Rosy: " Can I give it to the puppy?"
Rosy's mother: " Yes, give him the cat toy also."
Rosy went upstairs and came down with the blanket and cat toy. She tied it around his neck, although it stook out like a cape and gave him the toy. Balto trotted to the boat and took off his cape, as Boris looked at him.
Boris: " Where were you?"
Balto: " I was exploring the town and this nice girl named Rosy gave me these."
Boris: " Oh, boychick, do you have a home?"
Balto: " No."
Boris: " How about you stay with me?"
Balto: " Really? Oh, thank you! Thank you, thank you!"
He ran around the goose.
Boris: " Okay, first we need to find you a bowl."
Balto: " I think there are bowls in town."
Boris: " Okay, first thing tomorrow we'll look for a bowl."
Balto: " Mmhm, uh, Boris?"
Boris: " Yes?"
Balto: " Where's the bathroom?"
Boris: " Oy, follow me."
The next day, Boris and Balto are wandering through the alleyway looking for Balto's bowl. He see Jenna.
Balto: " Hi Jenna!"
She didn't hear him, Balto runs towards her and sees her with two other dogs, a silver dog and a tan and brown dog.
Jenna: " Hello Balto."
Silver dog: " Jenna, who is he?"
Jenna: " A friend I met the yesterday. Balto, this is Silvie and Dixie."
Silvie: " Hello."
Rosy: " Jenna! Hello puppy! Come on! Daddy wants to show me something."
They follow Rosy to a house. Rosy picks up Balto and goes inside. There, his father is looking at a map.
Rosy: " What's that daddy?"
Rosy's father: " An old map I found, I wanted to check it before throughing it out. It's too worn out."
Rosy: " What's that?"
Rosy's father: " It's the Baltic Sea."
At the sound of Baltic, Balto ripped the map. Rosy laughed at this, his father just chuckled.
Rosy's father: " Well, we won't have to worry about it being recked."
Rosy: " Maybe that's what we can call him, Balto!"
Rosy's father: " Very well, Rosy."
Rosy ran to her house and took her piggy bank, she ran to the store and bought a bowl for Balto.
Rosy: " Here Balto, now you have a bowl."
On the way back, Balto met up with Boris.
Boris: " Where did you find that?"
Balto: " Rosy gave it to me."
Boris: " no wonder it looks new."
They walked into the boat. Balto was looking at Nome, in the distance. Before he went to sleep, he saw the full moon and the twinkling stars shine above Nome, his new home.
