Third check. He still isn't home. My mind is full of things that could have happened to him. The house is quiet all except for the crickets outside, then, all silence is broken as a growling noise emits from out of nowhere. I look towards my stomach in surprise. I was so hungry and he wasn't home yet, I couldn't reach the top cupboard that he kept my food in. It was starting to get dark, I was worried as to where my human was and my stomach felt as if it was about to swallow itself. Small amounts of time felt like hours as the sun was starting to fade beyond the horizon, I leapt onto the nearby sofa and fell into the small cusion, my tail served as a natural heater as I placed my head into the my warm fur.

I suddenly awoke! I sprinted to the window as a small car pulled up outside, my human appeared out of the car, he was holding a small bag. Maybe this bag was full of treats! is that the reason he was out for so long? I ran to the door and started barking excitedly. I heard him pull out the keys and unlock the door. In my excitement, just as he opened the door, I tackled him to the floor, the bag he was holding was sent flying. He acted harshly as he pushed my head away and threw himself towards the bag. He caught it just before it hit the ground. He stood up and yelled so loud the whole neighborhood could have heard him.

" BAD DOG!". I was so stunned all that could escape my throat was a meer whimper. Just when I was about to back up inside the door, the bag caught my attention, it started moving! What is in that bag? It thought to myself. Suddenly a loud bark erupted from the bag as a small animal burst out of it, it was like me but smaller, alot smaller. It ran in cirlces chasing it's tail until it was tired out, then it gave up and layed quietly on the floor. I decided to investigate. I moved closer and started cautiously sniffing the miniature thing. It was a brown like colour with white on it, it looked like me but I was white. It was too small to be what I was anyway. Was this thing meant to be a miniature me? Was it even meant to be an animal like I was?

All these questions seemed to make me black out for a moment, but when regained my posture the small animal was up again and started leaping towards my nose over and over again. It's annoying bark seemed to ring throughout my ears and all that my human could do was smile. How could he just stand there as the annoying thing just kept bounding around and making such ear piercing sounds? I decided to take matters into my own paws. I leant down really close to the things face, bared my fangs and growled, this growl was telling it to be quiet or accidents could happen. "YETI, NO!" My human's voice seemed to shatter me as he picked up the animal. "Don't hurt the puppy, it's like you, a new, but smaller friend." He paused. " I found him wandering the streets."A puppy? friend? My human expected this puppy to be my friend?

He then put the puppy down as it started running towards me, it's steps were clumsy, it almost tripped but then kept coming my way. I pushed it away with a light nudge. I didn't want to anger my human once again. My owner walked inside and I followed. So did the puppy. "Well, we'll have to give you a name, little puppy" My human said with a voice full of kindness. He knelt down to stroke the puppy's head, I rolled my eyes at his gesture. Did he really like that puppy? "I know!" I'll call you Demon!" "Yeti and Demon!" He said with a small chuckle. Demon? he didn't look like much of a demon, his fangs were about as big as a small childs fingernail.

I then remembered that earlier I was really hungry and whined towards my owner, to give him that hint. He then stroked my head and headed towards the kitchen. I trotted beside him until we reached the cupboard. I sat on the cold floor as I waited for my food to be prepared. My master reached into a plastic bag and pulled out a small blue bowl. He also picked up mine and started serving the meals. I was so hungry all I could do was bark repeatedly. Demon decided that he would copy too, he lifted his head and let out a sound so intruiging, a howl. Me and my owner were stunned. A small puppy could make a long sad-like moaning sound like that? My owner shook it off and continued to prepare the meals. I looked at Demon, he looked at me. His bright blue eyes shone in the bright light of the kitchen.

"All ready" My master called to us. Both Demon and I couldn't wait as we shook our tails in excitement. He placed the bowls on the floor. I started eating right away but Demon didn't, he took one look at the meat and shook his head. I tilted my head in confusion. How could a dog not eat? Demon then galloped his way over to my food bowl and started eating from mine. For some reason, I didn't mind him eating from mine either. I then continued eating along side the small puppy.

After dinner, master placed some firewood into the fireplace and started it up. The fire made the room alot more warmer and comfortable to be in. I layed down on the rug that was located the closest to the fire. It had been a long night and I was full. As I was dozing off a small figure made it's way towards me. I opened my eyes to find Demon. He yawned, you could tell by his eyes that he was really tired. He was on the streets before he came here, according to my owner, so he must be really tired from walking around in the deep snow. I then peered towards the window. Outside the snow was falling gently, covering the window sill slowly.

Demon made himself comfortable in my warm fur. His small body was so fragile. He closed his eyes and fell asleep almost instantly. I too laid my head down. The fire kept us warm from the cold night outside the house. My eyes slid closed as I drifted to sleep, alongside the small yet playful puppy, Demon.

Usa Male
Looks good. It's well-written, shows understanding of
canines, and has believable characters. I've got a theory or
two about that puppy...
