Night growled lightly as Storm followed that new man with brown hair. What was his name? Oh yeah, John!
"See ya Night!" Storm called, as he walked away with the man. Night's owner, Giny, untied Night's leash.
"Go on," she said. Night licked her hand and snuck after Storm and John.
"You'll like the suprise boy," John was saying. Storm wagged his tail and licked his lips. Food? he thought.
Night growled quietly. John didn't have a good suprise for Storm! Not at all! Night could tell.
"Coem on, boy! We'll do this every day," John told Storm. Storm barked happily. John and Storm walked further through town until they were at the very edge.
Night snarled when she saw the building John stopped infront of. It was an old warehouse that had wood nailed on the windows and a sign posted on the door that read, "DANGER OF FALLING DOWN! KEEP OUT!"
Night saw Storm shiver but wag his tail.
"Idiot," she muttered. Storm whined. John picked him up.
"Boy," he said, when no one was watching, "can I test on you?"
Night's heart plummeted. Storm's eyes widened in fear.
"You'll stay in here, so no one will know," John continued. "You wouldn't want me to be put in jail, would you?" Night howled and threw herself at John.
She bit his arm and tried to go for his neck but he threw her off and had her pinned in seconds. And, before she could even howl again, he had her inside with a rope tied around her muzzle. One good thing had come out of her sacrifice. Storm was free.
Storm gasped, when he saw John take Night in the warehouse. Even though he had shuned her, she saved him!
"NIGHT!" Storm howled. "Someone, hurry!" No one was near. It was the middle of the night and no one could hear him. Night, he thought.
Storm kicked at the snow and ran further into town. "SOME ONE!" he cried. Again, no one heard. His father could help!
Storm ran to his mother and father's home. "DAD!" he yelled. "DAD PLEASE!" What could he do? Balto walked to him.
"are you alright?" he asked.
"Where's my dad?" demanded Storm.
"Uh... funny thing is..." Balto tried to speak but couldn't get it out. "Alright, he went to see the other dingos and your mother followed."
"What?!" Storm howled. Storm ran into the forest. Dad, Mom, Night! The names raced through Storm's head. He ran into something and fell to the ground.
"WOAH! Are you okay, Bud?" It was his father's voice.
"It's Night!" Storm scrambled to his paws. "COME ON!"
"What?!" It was Night's father's voice. "Where?" Max was ahead oh him already. Storm ran after him with Mountain following.
He tried to lead them to the warehouse but dogs began to come out and try to talk to them. Rose for one, puffed out her chest and pranced to him.
"Hi," she sighed. Storm ignored her completely. They finally reached the lab but the sun was already rising over the mountians! John had had all nigh tto test on Night, too!
"There!" Storm cried, stopping at the door. Max leaped at it, teeth bared. He ripped at the door with all his might. Mountai and Storm jopined in, ripping the door to shreads.
They made a break through in only minutes. A large hole was in the door. Inside, Night was laying on an operating tabel, John standing over her.
The pretty mix was unconsious.
"NIGHT!" howled Storm, throwing himself at John. John gasped and scrambled back as Max and Mountain joined the attack.
Storm grabbed John's arm and pulled hard. John screamed and Storm heard Max say, "Storm! Go to Night and get help!"
Storm didn't need telling twice. He ran to the table an dgot Night on his back. He ran out of the warehouse and raced to the vet's office.
The wind rushed through his fur as he turned to run through another street. He arrived and howled at the door.
Sunset walked out of the door and gasped when she saw him.
"Bring her in," Sunset ordered. Storm ran in the room and slid Night onto a dogbed. The vet entered with little Rosy by her side. The vet immediatly bent down beside Night and Rosy looked at Storm. She can talk to animals.
"How did this happen?" she asked. Storm explained quickly. Rosy's parents came into the office then.
"Time to go," they said. Rosy looked at them.
"We have to go to the old warehouse," she said. Then Rosy explained the story and soon, they were running back to the old warehouse.
They arrived and Rosy's parents opened the beat up door. Inside, Mountain and Max were attacking John still. Rosy's parents grabbed John's arms, shaking off the two wild dogs, and led him outsode, to the police office.
Storm ran, again, with Mountian and Max to the vet's office. Sunset was waiting for them, Sky beside her. She burst into tears.
"She'll be okay," she sniffed. "But she can never have pups." Storm's heart shattered.
"I should have been quicker," he scolded. "I could have-"
"You saved her," Sunset interupted. "She's waiting for you." Storm walked inside and saw Night smiling at him, warmly.
"We're even," she said. Storm shook his head.
"No," he sighed. "You saved me just by knowing me. without you, I would have been way harsher than I am. You mean more to me than imanginable." Night's eyes were sparkling with love!
"Same here," she told him. Storm wasn't thinking. He may not have done what he did if he had stopped to think nbut he hadn't staopped to think. He licked Night's muzzle and froze imediatly afterwards.
"Night I-" he began. Night's looked the dingo mix in the eye and he knew that she felt the same. He knew how he felt and again felt sorrow that he hadn't arrived in time. He'd never be a father.
Months passed and Night recovered. Storm and Night went everywhere together. Storm had found his home. He lived with Night and Ginny.
Night began to eat more than usual and then throw up the food soon after. Her stomach grew.
Ginny took her to the vet and Storm was alowed to stay with her this time. The vet's news was shocking.
"Well, she must be a miricle dog," the vet sighed, shaking her head. "Night's expecting pups. They'll be here in amonth or two."
Storm wagged his tail and looked over at his mate. "Night, did you hear?"
"I heard." No matter how tired she was, Night couldn't hide her excitment.
"I'll be a father!" Storm couldn't hide his excitment. "Night," he added more slowly.
"Hmmm?"
"I need to tell you the truth. The whole truth. You know I'm part dingo but the reason I was so torn up when we met was because the dingo pack attacked me. My father was their leader but left for my mother and they have sworn to kill me."
"I figured it out," Night told him, grimly. "It won't matter. I promise."
They couldn't have been more wrong....
--------------------------------------------------------
About 2 months later Night had successfully given birth to 4 healthy puppies.
There were 2 boys and 2 girls. The first born, a redish-brown male with green eyes, was named Aaron. The second born, a gray male with amber eyes, was named Ronold. The third born, a white female with blue eyes, was named Flake. The fourth and final pup, a black female with golden eyes, was named Shadow.
Aaron was pretty large. His alpha traits were strong minded, samrt, powerful, difficult, convincing, tough, determinded, and hard working.
Ronold (Ron for short) was the largest pup. His alpha traits were wild, powerful, joking, eager to work, smart, unpredictible, kind, easy to work with, and determinded.
Flake was a little smaller than Aaron. Her alpha traits were kind, lazy, skepticle, easy to aggrivate, honest, and determinded.
Shadow was a runt. Her alpha traits were caring, honest, gentle, nervous, and easy to hurt.
Storm and Night loved their children with all their hearts. But the worst was yet to come....
