The wolf was a lonely fellow with no one with him.
He howled into the sky and the wind answered.
Their voices sang as one.
The wolf run with the wind and traveled many miles.
But soon he discovered he was not fully happy.
The wind was his only friend.
He longed for more and howled it into the wind.
The wind carried it to another wolf miles away.
She longed for a friend too.
They followed each other’s voices to a valley.
They stayed together for the rest of that winter.
A pup was born in spring.
The pup grew until she was no longer a pup anymore.
She too longed for someone other then her parents.
She howled it to the wind.
Once again the wind found a wolf and had them met.
They stayed all winter and had a pup in spring.
The pup grew and it started over.
This happened for generations and is still happening today and will happen for generations to come.
But one pup was different.
She did not long for a wolf mate,
But something different and she asked the wind.
It said to follow it.
She followed the wind to another valley.
She followed it across mountains and deserts.
Finally one night it left her alone in a cave.
It traveled farther and father until it found a house.
The sled dogs of Alaska wouldn’t follow.
All but one stayed.
He followed the wind but again the wind left.
It went to find the wolf who never left the cave.
She howled into the wind.
The wind carried it back to the husky who listened.
He howled into the wind and it was taken to the wolf.
She followed the wind back to him.
They stayed together all winter and a pup was born.
He brought them much happiness and joy.
A wolf dog was born.
A great storm came and separated him from his mom.
She cried out his name but he was long lost.
She huddled with her mate.
After the storm had gone she left to find her pup.
Her mate tried to stop her but she left just the same.
She traveled many miles.
She was scared and hungry and laid down.
She took her last breath before her spirit left her.
It went in search for the pup.
When he was finally found she stayed with him.
She gave him the courage to travel many miles
And save a town.
She helped him find his daughter when she was lost.
She encouraged his son to find a injured pilot.
She never left him.
And Balto became great because of his mother
