it's open!" That's when Aleu saw the limp paw sticking out of the snow. She looked around and when she didn't see Saba anywhere, she screamed, "SABA!" Then she ran over to teh snow and unburied her sister.

Aleu finally got all the snow off Saba. She dragged the limp body over to the middle of the cave. "Saba? Saba? Saba are you okay?" Aleu asked, sadly. Lightning came over and nuzzled Aleu. Aleu started to cry when Saba didn't answer her. She turned her head into the black fur on Lightning's broad chest. "Aleu." Aleu heard her name being said by a weak voice. Aleu looked down and saw Saba's eye lids flutter and her lips move slightly. "Saba!" Aleu cried happily. She threw her body onto Saba's to try to keep her warm. Saba tryed to get up. But she couldn't. "My side! Ow! Aleu! My side!" Saba cried. Her face was twisted into pain and agony. Aleu got off of Saba. "Saba? Are you okay?" Aleu asked in fright. Saba screamed and cried. Jojo walked over. "What's happening?" When he saw Saba on the ground, he screamed. He had grown extremly fond of Saba. "Saba? What happened?" Jojo asked in concern.

All the wolves gathered around Saba. But she finally grew quiet. Her eyelids closed. "What happened?" Aleu asked. "I don't know." Lightning replied. Jojo put his head to Saba's chest. He heard a very faint heart beat. "We need to get her to Tiaka right away." Jojo said. He had fright in his eyes.

Aleu helped Saba onto Tiksa's back because he was the largest wolf in the group. Then they all ran as fast as they could to the legendary wolf carer, Tiaka. They got there very quickly. The wolves howled and the wise man stepped out of his home. He saw Saba on Tiksa's back. He picked her up and brought her inside, motioning for Aleu to come. When they were inside Tiaka's home, he layed Saba on the bed. Then he examined her. Aleu waited patiently at the foot of the bed. After several hours, Tiaka gestured for Aleu to leave. Aleu left the room and Tiaka brought all the other wolves into his family room. Aleu, Lightning, Jojo, Jack, and Tiksa sat patiently in the room. Tiaka finally came into the room, carrying Saba.

"Saba!" Aleu freaked out. Tiaka put Saba on the floor and she wobbled over to Aleu. "Aleu." She whispered. Before she could continue Aleu said, "Why'd you do it Saba." Saba was about to answer, when her eyes rolled around and then she fell. "SABA!" Aleu cried. She ran over to Tiaka who was leaving the room and nudged him. She pulled him back into the room to see the unconcious Saba. Tiaka gasped and hurried to pick her up.

The wolf clan spent several days in Tiaka's home. Finally, after about a week, Tiaka brought Saba back out of his room. He gently set Saba down. She went over to Aleu. "Aleu?" Saba asked quietly. Aleu pretended she didn't hear her. "Aleu? I am sorry. It is not my fault that I wanted to help your clan. Maybe I never get a chance to show that I can take charge. I wanted to help you." Saba whispered. Aleu was about to reply, when Saba walked away, Jojo following her.

"Saba?" Jojo asked. "What do you want?" Saba replied rather rudely. Jojo backed off. I just wanted to ask you if you were okay." Jojo said. Saba said, "I am fine. But my side hurts like heck and I am seeing double." Jojo asked, "Can I sit with you?" Saba thought about it for a minute. "I guess." With that, Jojo sat beside her. The wolf was quiet for a while before he noticed that Saba's eyes had closed. "Saba?" He asked. "Saba?" He asked again. He shook her and she fell in a heap on the snow covered ground. The light snow covering her body. Her motionless body.
