Saba yawned in the golden sunlight. She was lying with her brothers, Dingo, and Kodi. They just had another holiday without their only other sister, Aleu. Aleu had recently taken charge of the wolf clan that she had joined. She has been in it for almost 1 year. Saba wished that Aleu would return, but she never did, until one day.

Saba opened her eyes and everything she saw was fuzzy from sleep. She was about to close her eyes, when Dingo pounced on her, telling her it was time for breakfast. Saba opened her eyes once more and stumbled down the sort of steep staircase. She saw her new owner, making her breakfast. When it was put infront of her, Saba grumbled. She saw some brown and red pile right in the middle of her bowl. She stuck her tongue out but right when it touched the grub, she backed away, scared.

"Come on Tikka. It is okay. It won't bite you." Saba's owner said. Saba's new name was Tikka. Her owner was named, Lindsey. Lindsey patted Saba on the back, then she whistled. Dingo and Kodi wrestled down the stairs and before they could see what food was put in their bowls that morning, it disappeard in only seconds.

Lindsey laughed and she patted Saba once more. Saba curled up next to her mistress' leg but when Lindsey walked towards the counter, Saba fell backwards. Saba looked up at Lindsey with big, sad eyes. Lindsey laughed once more. She grabbed her shoulder bag and headed for the door. Then she stopped. She called, "PRINCE! TUCKER!" Dingo and Kodi ran into the kitchen, tumbling into Lindsey from behind. Lindsey cried out in shock then she picked up Dingo, Saba, and Kodi. She brought them outside and locked the house door. She pulled on her boots and put her pink toque over her shoulder length blonde hair. Her blue eyes shining for the first day of junior high. She fed the cow some fodder and gave the horse some aswell. Dingo and Kodi wrestled as always. Saba sat in the corner of the barn, watching them. "Bye guys! See you after school!" She ran out of the barn, wanting to get to the school before the first bell.

When Kodi, Dingo, and Saba were sure they were alone, Kodi said, "Hey Dingo!" Dingo turned his head, long enough to say, "It's TUCKER now." Kodi shook his head, "Okay. Tucker." Dingo looked at him, a look of evil spread across his face. Then, he and Kodi ran at eachother. Kodi jumped on him and they soon were in a long wrestling match again. Saba shook her head and she lay down on the soft hay. Dingo and Kodi rolled over to her. They fell on either side, begging for a wrestling match with her. She shook her head and got up. Dingo and Kodi looked at eachother, shrugged and waited for Saba to turn around. She didn't.

"Saba? What's wrong?" Kodi asked. "Tikka." Saba corrected him. "Tikka? What's wrong." Kodi asked, concerned about his sister. Dingo came up and asked, "Yea? What's wrong?" Saba turned to them. They saw a single tear run down the side of her face. Soon followed by a second, then a third. Kodi realized she was crying. Dingo nuzzled his sister, comforting her. She turned to him. "I-I-I-I just miss Aleu. I mean. I always wonder if she's okay. I want to live with her. I want to stay with her. We were close. Now it's like she's gone from my life or something...." Saba couldn't continue. Dingo and Kodi got her point. They all stayed quiet for several minutes before Kodi broke the silence. "What's that!?!?!?" He cried. He strained his ears.

Saba and Dingo looked at Kodi. He was standing up, his red coat shimmering in the sunlight. Dingo got up and exclaimed, "HEY! Kodi's right!" Kodi glanced at Dingo. "Prince." He said. Dingo nodded, then he raised his eyebrows. "Tikka! Come here! Hurry." Saba stood up, wiping away a tear with her paw. She stood next to Dingo. Then she heard the sound. It was a faint howling sound. "ALEU!" Saba screamed. Her wish had come true. Aleu was coming back! Atleast she thought it was Aleu. Saba started to walk towards the howling sound. Her walk turned into a run. "WAIT! TIKKA! STAY HERE!" Kodi cried. Saba looked at him, "You can call me Saba!" She said, laughing. She turned back around and ran towards the howl.

Saba finally was close enough to the howling that it seemed as if she was standing right next to the howls. She was hidded behind a small, snow, covered bush so that she could see them but they couldn't see her. Saba studied the wolves that she saw. They were mostly all the same dull black. Some were white. But one, Saba found interesting. That one was greyish, brownish, whiteish. She strained to see that wolf's face. Then.....OOF! Saba fell forwards, flying into the wolf. It looked at her in shock. Saba looked at her, then a black wolf, ran up. It said, "Aleu! Are you okay? I will get this... this... this imposter away from you!" The black wolf lunged for Saba when the greyish, brownish, whiteish wolf pulled her away. "No! I am okay. Really Takahama. I need to talk to her." Before Takahama could reply, the wolf pulled Saba away from the rest of the clan.

"Who are you?" She asked Saba. Saba didn't know if she should reply. The wolf looked stern, so Saba quickly said, "My name is Saba. I have two brothers named Dingo and Kodi and one sister named Aleu." The wolf's eyes widened. "My name is Aleu. Who were your parents?" Saba looked at her with wide eyes. "Balto and Jenna." She answered. The wolf screeched, "My parents were Balto and Jenna. Saba, I am your sister Aleu!!!!" Aleu cried with surprise. Saba cried with joy. "Aleu! I missed you. I want to live with you so I don't have to worry. Please Aleu! Let me join your clan!" Aleu looked shocked. "I--uh-- will have to---uh--see." Aleu quickly ran away from Saba, her joy fading. She didn't know if having Saba in the clan would totally work out. She and Saba have grown apart. Even though Aleu really wanted to spend some time with her sister, she didn't want her joining the clan. But just to be nice, she asked Takahama.

After a couple of minutes, Aleu came back. "Fine. Takahama said that you could if you want." Aleu suddenly regretting even asking Takahama. Saba jumped up and down in excitement. "YAY!" She cried in happiness. Aleu started to trot back to the clan when she realized Saba was following her. "Saba?" She asked uncertainly. Saba came up beside her. "Yea sis?" She replied. Aleu just shook her head and continued walking calmly. The she stopped short. She remembered that wolves walked for quite some time and Saba wasn't exactly the most patient dog in the world. "Sa.." She started to say. Then she decided it was better to keep her snout shut.

Aleu thought that she should introduce Saba to the rest of the clan. "Saba. This is Jack, Takahama, Jojo, Tiksa, and Lightning." Aleu pointed to each of the clan members. Saba found Lightning very attractive. He was a pure black wolf. Aleu led the group with all the other members following behind her.

It wasn't long before Saba pushed her way to the front of the group. "Aleu!" She whined. "I'm tired. I want a break!" Aleu glared at Saba. "No Saba. Stop. Get to the back off the group." Aleu ordered. Saba grumpily made her way to the back. Then Takahama walked up to Aleu. "Aleu," He started. "let her come up here. Please. She is annoying us like heck back there." He pleaded. Aleu rolled her eyes. "Saba!" She called. Saba ran to the front and said, "I promise I won't be a pain Aleu." After that, nobody heard a word out of Saba.

After a very long time, the wolf clan finally stopped. They nestled in a deserted cave. Saba curled up in one corning, gazing at Lightning. She knew for a fact that she liked him. Saba stared at Lightning, slowly drifting off into sleep.

The next morning, Saba saw that she was lying right next Lightning. She smiled. Thinking he moved over there to keep her warm. But her happy thoughts faded as she saw the rest of the clan, lying in a bundle around them. Saba realized that it was unusually cold in the cave. Then she saw why. It had snowed over night. And now they were locked in the cave! Saba crawled over top of Lightning, hoping not to wake him. She crawled over to Aleu. "Aleu." She whispered. "Aleu. The cave. We're blocked in!" Aleu opened an eye and looked at the doorway. It was blocked with lots of snow. "No!" Aleu groaned. She got up and banged her head against the back wall. "This can't happen!" Aleu banged her head again. The second time, it woke up Lightning. Saba was trying to comfort Aleu, when he walked up to her.

"Aleu?" Lightning asked. Aleu looked at him. "Lightning." She cried. Saba wondered was going to happen. She watched closely. She hoped that nothing was going on between Lightning and her sister. Lightning nuzzled Aleu. "Don't worry Aleu. Everything is going to be fine baby. I swear. I love you. And if I didn't, why would I be telling you this?" He wondered. Aleu laughed and touched his nose. She felt safe around Lightning. After awhile, the others woke up. Saba was determined to help Aleu's clan but she promised Aleu that she wouldn't get in the way. So she didn't say anything.

Aleu, Jack, Takahama, Jojo, Tiksa, and Lightning sat in a circle, suggesting what they should do. Saba sat by and listened. Then she had an idea. "Al..." She started but then stopped. She didn't want to get in the way. So she sat quietly, thinking about her idea. After everyone was sleeping again, Saba decided to put her plan in action. She quietly walked over to the entrance of the cave. Then she started to dig. She dug all night long. After 6, long, hard hours of work, Saba saw light. She banged her head against the remaining snow that covered the entrance way. It fell down with such force, that Saba was sucked beneath it. "Help!" She managed to squeak out.

Aleu opened her eyes. She rolled over to sheild her eyes from the bright sun. Sun? She thought. She looked towards the entrance and saw that all the snow had fallen down and that the entrance was once again open. "Guys! Wake up!" Aleu cried. "Wake up! The entrance! it's open!" That's
