HUSKEY RACERS
In the northern shores of Alaska,
Where wolves of the wild roam,
Where packs of dogs stand side by side,
Near the boundaries of Nome.
The plain surrounded is silent,
Till the shooting of a gun,
A bullet firing through the air,
And dogs began to run.
They ran throughout the track ahead,
Through all the sleet and snow,
All dogs now panting breathlessly,
And on and on they go.
The leading packs are cunning,
Being also strong and slick,
As they carry running through the path,
Summoning every last trick.
The northern breeze gets colder,
The packs begin to slow,
A leading dog now bares he's teeth,
A plan begins to grow.
He pushes up speed now rearing in,
And then with all he's might,
He thrashed his jaws at one dog’s paws,
As the dog collapsed with fright.
The other dog’s team collapsed one by one,
Tumbling to the ground,
Skidding and lying in the snow,
But now the only sound.
The cheating team howling with joy,
And the part you'll see,
With one team lying in the snow,
And the others victory.
