Mathew was an orange wolf with white paws, standing on top of a grassy hill in the middle of a massive plain.  All around him, the cool breeze blew around him, the grass waving below at his paws.  He looked up towards the crystal clear sky and smiled.

The wolf's name was Mathew Wolf and he lived with his parents, Kyla and Margo Wolf and his brother Seeth.  They were a happy family, hunting together, playing together, and howling at the moon.

One day, Mathew was rolling on his back in the grass when Margo walked up to him.

"Mathew," he greeted.  "How are you this morning?"

Mathew looked up.  "I'm feeling pretty good," he yapped.  "This cool grass feels great on my fur."  And he kept rolling.  Margo chuckled and soon found himself joining in on the rolling.

"This DOES feel great!"

However, behind them, several younger wolves were feeling jealous of Mathew.

"Look at him!" said one.  "He and his father are bonding so well!"  He growled angrily.

An older wolf growled back.  "Don't you go taking your jealousy out on Mathew!" he said.  "He's my friend!"

The wolf who had spoken was Crunchinator Wolf and he had known Mathew for a long time, ever since they were young cubs.

The other wolves turned on their paws and stormed off.  "Tell Mathew we will have nothing to do with him!" they snarled.

Mathew had overheard and instantly stopped rolling, ears flopped down to the ground.  Margo stared at him.

"Mathew?"

"They know I'm different, don't they pa?" Mathew replied.  "They know I'm not an ordinary wolf."

"Being different makes you special," Margo replied, gently, putting a paw on Mathew's shoulder.  Mathew sighed.

"If you don't mind, dad, I just want to be alone."

Margo nodded and walked off.  Mathew sighed and laid down on the grass, feeling too sad to do much.

Until--

"GOTCHA!" a voice laughed.  Mathew looked up and saw Crunchinator had pounced on him!

"I said I wanted to be ALONE!" Mathew snarled, savegely.  Crunchinator bounced off, looking surprised and hurt.

"What's the matter?"  Then the maroon wolf realized.  "You heard the other wolves."

"Yes," snapped Mathew.  "Now please, go away for a bit!"
