An Unanswered Question
Why do they think we’re savage?
Is it because of so many myths?
Is it the fact we kill their sheep because they kill our deer?
They shoot us for pleasure but we keep to ourselves.
We live life as wolves do.
Why do they come and destroy it?
And why so much fear?
Yet, our cousins live in their house, eat their food,
even sleep on their beds.
What is the difference?
The dog is a wolf.
From the first man who befriended a wolf, we changed
Over time to help them.
Herding sheep, killing rodents, seeing for them,
Being their companion that they can trust!
Wolves are the untamed side of it all.
Freedom still runs fresh in our blood
Humans find it hard to domesticate us so they kill us.
Wolves are as harmless as a deer living it’s life.
We can only hope that one day, people will realize
We are the Same.

Very nice poem. I agree about how we should regard wolves. They're just trying to get along, but some people cannot tolerate anything that will not submit to them. First they destroy nature. Then they destroy one another. And through it all they fight themselves because many of them know, deep down, it isn't right. |
