Aleu stared across the Great Waters and sighed. How was her papa? How was her mother? How were her siblings? Aleu let out a snort of laughter as she remembered the last time she played with Kodi.

They had been adults and he had said that he never wanted a mate then he started acting goofy when Dusty went to join them! Kodi had been her source of entertainment. How was he? How was Dusty?

"Aleu?" Aleu's friend, Charcole, a dark brown she-wolf, asked. "Are you alright?"

  "Fine," Aleu muttered.

 "Sure," Charcole snorted. "Homesick?"

  "NO!" Aleu scrambled up.

"Hey, pack!" Charcole howled. "We're crossing the Great Waters!" Diyu, Aleu's mate, smiled lightly. He had black fur with white slashes spread out on his body. He and Aleu actually had to become mates because the pack thought he was most fitting for her. Aleu hadn't loved anyone in the pack as a mate.

  "Why?" he asked.

   "Aleu needs-" Charcole began.

"I need to see my family," Aleu cut in.

"Understandable," Diyu replied. "Come on! When will the ice align?"

"It's aligning now," replied Charcole. The pack began to walk across the ice. Aleu was at the lead, her paws trimbling with excitment. Aleu began to run, the pack following. Soon, they were safely across the waters.

Right when they arrived they saw carrabou everywhere! Aleu sighed.

"Back so soon?" a drawling voice, drenched in evil, growled. Aleu gasped and looked up at a large rock. Niju was standing on the rock, glaring.

  "Niju," snarled Aleu.

"You waste their energy, hybrid," Niju snorted.

  "Shut it!" snapped Charcole.

  "Where's Nava?" shouted Diyu.

"We fought," Niju growled. "Guess who won and guess who's dead!" Aleu snarled.

"You're an idiot, Niju!" she howled.

"Idiot?" Niju's gaze snapped to her. "Me? I am a pure blood wolf!" Niju snarled.

"Having pure blood doesn't make you pure," Aleu growled. "It's what's inside that counts!"

"You're not a cat so say good bye to your only life!" Niju launched at Aleu. Aleu was ready to spring at him but Charcole came to Aleu's defense.

"Charcole move!" Aleu howled, throwing herself at Niju. "I have to do this!" Niju and Aleu fell to the ground, biting and scratching.

"Take this half breed!" Niju snarled. Something flared in Aleu. She remembered her mother telling her about the first time Balto met Jenna and Steele. Steele had called Balto half breed!

"TAKE YOUR OWN ATTACK!" Aleu roared, seeing Niju as Steele. She bit Niju's snout and pulled. Niju whined and Aleu's jaws found his throat. Aleu had half a mind to kill him but Balto wouldn't want her too. She held him in her grip for a moment then dropped him.

Niju fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

"The difference between good and evil," Aleu said. "Good has mercy." Niju growled but he was too weak to fight anymore.

"Fight your own battles from now on," Aleu snarled. "You don't have the pack anymore." Aleu turned and walked away, the pack following her.

That night, when Aleu settled down to sleep, she knew what to do. What she had to do. Sleep didn't roll over her easily but when it did come, Aleu was in a deep sleep.

The next morning Aleu gathered her pack.

"This is where we depart!" she cried. "Niju will not bother you again! Charcole, I want you to lead the pack!"

"Aleu I'm coming!" Charcole insisted. Aleu shook her head.

"I need you to stay," Aleu told her. "You'll always be my friend."

Charcole sighed. "Alright, Aleu. I'll miss you."

"I'll stay," Diyu said. "I need the pack."

Aleu nodded. "Yes. I also want you and Charcole to lead together. As alpha male and alpha female. As mates." Aleu knew that Charcole and Diyu had always loved each other but Aleu had just made it impossible for them to be together.

  "Aleu, I-" Charcole began.

"Please, Charcole," Aleu begged. "Don't mourn me." Charcole gulped then nodded.

"For you Aleu," Charcole said, "I'd give my life." Aleu smiled.

"Same here," she told her friend. Aleu turned around ready to leave then sh estopped and looked back. "Diyu, Charcole," she said. "We'll meet again." Charcole nodded, as did Diyu.

"We'll name a pup after you," Charcole said.

"Thanks," Aleu replied. Then Aleu walked away from her pack and towards her family.

The end! I hope you liked it and I will write another one about Aleu trying to find her place in Nome again.
