Cailean gazed steadily at the small breeze that silvently sneaked through the trees. She smiled. Cailean was different, small things as this never passed her eyes. She had a secret that lay deep inside her but aroused often.
She layed in her bed with the same stillness a wolf would have in it's den. She listened at the mysterical sounds of the night and lavished them. A distant howl wa heard and a chill ran through her spine but of pure delight. She rushed to the window and wished she could look in all directions at once. There was nothing but it delighted her to know it had come from the very soul of a wolf. She reluctantly crawled back into bed and stared up at the ceiling. Was this wolf trying to tell her something? She could have sworn it was calling her, beckoning her to come. She shivered with amazement at the thought, living among wolves. Cailean had convinced herself in a past life whe had been a wolf, for what other two-legged would have such an urge to live as one?
She scowled angrily at the alarm clock that boomed in her ears. Slamming it shut, she swung her feet to the floor and felt a tingle as her feet seemed to awaken from the weight of her body. She pushed back her brown hair and sighed, looking into a mirror at her thin body. She was soon dressed, ready to go to the place that kept her away from freedom the most. School.
She walked to and from her classes in a daze. She murmured answers and nodded at conversatins with little interest. Finally, the bell rang and she walked down the hall and threw her books in her locker.
"Another day of hell" she mumbled.
That night, Cailean lied in her bed dressed and ready, straining to hear the howl that would soon echo through the night. It never failed her and she waited with keen interest. As soon as the howl barely left the wolves jaws, Cailean ran through the snow towards it. A cloak tied in the middle of her broad shoulders was the only thing that kept her warm.
As if the wolf knew she was searching endlessly. It let it's voice pierce then night air again until Cailean stood a few yards from the creature that she had not expected. A werewolf. She noticed at once it was a male, standing taller then a man. He turned and met her eyes, Cailean gazed into his and she felt a difference about herself. A difference she liked.
