Jason, a brown husky with black ears gazed into the snowy mountains. He was paitently waiting for the siloute of a wolf to appear. There was no sign of this wolf and Jason's legs were aching. So, Jason leapt out of the window and walked around the room to rid himself of that ache. Outside the weather was very cold a Jason was glad that his master had lit a fire. Now, as he began to make his way back to the window he heard an unmistakeable howl. Quickly he peeped outside the window to make sure it was the wolf that he had been waiting for. Then he slipped outside to meet this wolf who went by the name of Aniu. They greeted eachover with a touch of noses before hurrying out of sight from humans. When they wrere safe they settled down to talk. Whilst they were talking Jasper noticed that Aniu was in heat and he hinted that he wanted puppies. 

"I love puppies" he remarked.

"So do I" she replied sensing that Jason knew that she was in heat and that he wanted to have puppies.

Jason now realised that she had really said let's have some puppies. So he got up and asked "why wait?"

So they both slipped away to mate.

Back in town an attractive sled dog named Apollo and a group of other dogs were discussing Jason and this white wolf. They wondered why Jason a purebred sled dog would have anything to do with a wolf. They always said acusing and horrid things behind his back. and sometimes they hurt him. But Jason just took it in his stride.

After about five or six months it was confirmed that Aniu was pregnant. Jasper and Aniu were very proud alough it looked like there wouldn't be many in their first litter. But as time passed Aniu also sensed an uneasyness in him. So one starry night when they were watching the northern lights Aniu finally brought herself to ask.

"Jasper? is everything ok?" she gently asked.

Jasper sat up. "Well..."

"Yes" Aniu said.

"Well... my master's moving away and he's taking me with him." he replied.

After that news Aniu tried to spend as much time as possible with Jasper. They wondered the still starry nights together but now they wondered them in partial saddness. On the day of the move Jasper came looking for Aniu to find her laying in a cave with one pup suckleing forom her.

"oh, he's wonderful!" he remarked.

Then the tone of his voice got softer "sorry I have to leave" he apologised.

And then sensing his master was looking for him back home Jasper turned and walked away, his cheeks stained with tears. He promised himself that he would never forget Aniu or his only pup. Memories of her flooded his mind as he left Aniu, his pup and his home.

two months later...

Aniu sat watching her pup that she had decided to call Balto. He rolled and played in the snow like it was the brothers and sisters he had nether had. Suddenly she noticed that unmistakeable shine from a gun! She went to grab Balto but a fierce black dog lept between them. Aniu had no choice but to abandon her and Jasper's only son. Balto.
