On the edge
Facing the goal
That my dreams envisioned
Patriarch beside me
Destiny in the distance
I must go forward
Following my heart
All my life
I lay in confusion
"Who am I?
What am I?"
I felt like everyone else
But I was different
More dog than you
Yet I felt something more
I could hear it calling
Howls piercing the soul
If I am so much like you,
Couldn't you feel it too?
It took a run-in with a rifle
Before you would confess
I was left in the dark of my inner self
The dormant lupine sleeping within
"Why did you lie all this time,
Keeping the truth from me?"
Fear, love, protection
Never thinking of my desires
I ran from you
Escaping the life
That I used to know
Only to find something more
Why am I running?
What do I seek to find?
The wilderness engulfs me
Entrancing the wolf inside
In a twist of fate
Guided by a mystical mouse
And a light tune of questions
It was time to find my purpose
A reason for living
A heritage to accept
A time to be free
A fate to be a leader
Now it's my turn
Allow me to protect
Something that I love
The other side of me
You left it behind
And forgot who you are too
But as I dive into the water
I now know who I am
Not close to a purebred husky
Not quite all wild wolf
But both breeds run in my blood
As I lead my new family home
