Take Me Away
“…Kodi…Kodi…wake up my child.” Said a tender loving voice.
Kodi heard the voice and arose to a bright morning. He opened his eyes and looked around.
“Hello, is anyone there?” questioned Kodi.
The voice answered, “Are you longing to find out who you are?”
Kodi was confused by this question. He simply replied, “ I know who I am.”
Just then a gust of wind blew against him. Kodi squinted his eyes, bracing the impact. Out of nowhere a figure emerged out of the wind. Kodi could only see the face of this creature. It had brown eyes and white fur. This mysterious animal looked at Kodi and said, “ If you are searching for an answer meet me near the forest, where all the trees unite in a circle. The gust stopped and Kodi fell to the floor. Kodi was panting heavily. Minutes later he stood back up. Kodi turned to where the creature was and a large footprint was on the ground. Kodi told himself,” It was nothing, it’s probably those pups trying to scare me,” Kodi shrugged. “ I can handle anything!”
Just then Kirby ran into him. “Kodi you gotta help me buddy, I don’t have time to explain…”
Suddenly Dusty spots Kirby and launches at him screaming, “You are so dead!”
Dusty wrestles with Kirby, unleashing a woman’s wrath upon him. Kodi sat there shocked a little, but decided to end the fight. He pulls Kirby out of Dusty’s paws and yelled, “ What in the name of Alaska, are you two fighting about?”
“I’ll tell you,” Dusty said. “ That jerk stood me up last night, I waited two hours for him.”
“I didn’t want to show up because I thought you didn’t like me.” Kirby sobbed.
“Oh Kirby, you are such an idiot! Would I invite a husky on a date if I didn’t like him! Dusty replied.
They continue to argue. On and on they fought. Finally, Kodi had enough and angrily said, “ You know what the problem is? Dusty, you are way too aggressive. Kirby, you have commitment issues. Why don’t you just make up because you are both acting like first rate…”
“Kodi, son is that you, where are you?” Balto and Jenna said coming out of the corner.
Kodi heard their voices and jumped to the top his master’s house.
“Hey guys, have you seen my son by any chance? Asked Balto.
Kirby and Dusty glanced over at Kodi’s hiding position. Kodi gave them a stern look. Dusty said smiling,” Wherever Kodi may be, he might as well be very far away from here.”
Kodi heeded the warning and skipped across the roofs. He made it into the little town of Nome. “What could Mom and Dad want from me now.” Kodi muttered.
Kodi jumped from house to house. It was kind of fun for him. He started doing tricks in mid air. Without warning, he misses one of the roofs on one of the houses and falls.
“AAAAHHHHH!” Kodi screams as he falls through the sky.
Just then a light brown husky looks up and gets hit by the free falling dog. Kodi closes his eyes hoping that he doesn’t kill himself. Luckily, he lands on something soft. He opened his eyes.
Oh my goodness…” Kodi blushes. “ Ummm, my name’s Kodi.”
As he looks around, he realizes he is in one of the strangest positions of his life. Kodi just looks at the female husky he “landed” on.
“The female turns to him and stares him down with her crystal blue eyes. She tell him,” Hi, my name is Rachel, have you met my friend Urfaceon, Urfaceon daFloor?”
“Ur-face-on-da-floor?” Kodi thought.
“Let me show you.” Giggled Rachel.
Rachel stood on her hind paws and dropped Kodi on the floor. Rachel lowered down to Kodi and lowered her head right next to him. Kodi glanced over at her and realized how her blue eyes stared deeply into his. Rachel nuzzled his nose, and said,” Is this how you get all the girls.”
Kodi smiled and got up,“ I haven’t seen you around, are you from here? I was wondering maybe if you’d like your own guide for the day.”
“Is this your strange way for asking me on a date Kodi,” questioned Rachel. “Because if it, I would love to!”
Kodi gave a great big sigh of relief, and led Rachel through the town. He showed her his favorite spots, which were the boiler room, the butcher’s shop, and the mail service.
“Kodi, that’s your name right, is there any possible way you could show me where the great Balto lives?” Rachel questioned Kodi.
Kodi stooped immediately and looked at Rachel who stopped as well. He said,” Mr. Balto and I don’t get along right now, we kind of got in a fight some days ago. I don’t think I can let you see…”
“Son is that you?” Balto came out running out of the corner.
“ Wait a minute your Balto’s son.” Rachel asked. “ Why didn’t you tell me!”
Balto stood in front of the two. Rachel was speechless, while Kodi just stared at his dad in a cold and hostile way. Balto pointed his son to a private spot where they can talk. Kodi followed.
“Kodi, I know these days have been some what hard. But I have to straighten things out.” Balto said.
“ You know what Dad, everyone’s been talking about me. How I killed another dog, and I’m sick of it. I met this girl, and not once did she insult me. That’s a person I need right now, that’s the dad I wish I had.” Kodi sternly spoke.
Rachel walked toward their location and calmly told Kodi how her curfew was over.
“Rachel,” Kodi said running towards her. “Let me walk you home tonight.”
Kodi left his dad and led Rachel to her house. The whole entire time no one spoke. They finally made it to her house. “Kodi, I know everyone gets scared sometimes. Believe me, I should know. But you need to talk to your Dad.” Rachel said.
“I’ve been looking for the answer, somewhere. I couldn’t see that it was right there, but now I know what I didn’t know.” Kodi said smiling,
Rachel started blushing and hugged Kodi. “Rachel, you made me believe in myself, when nobody else could help.” Kodi politely said.
Kodi backed away and started running. “Wait, Kodi, where are you going?” Rachel hollered.
“ I’m going to find myself,” Kodi yelled. “ All thanks to you!”
Kodi kept running towards the forest. He wonders what may lie in store for him.
