Out of the fog
Trees hold their breath as dense fog curls around their trunks.
A lone wolf is lost inside it's thickness
She waits in the chilling night as the mist seeps into her fur
The wolf has barely stirred or eaten
Hunger pains battle in her stomach but even they have to wait
The ground below her paws is smooth and packed
For the wolf has sat there for three long days and nights
He left to hunt but has not yet returned
Too long has her mate been lost to the forest
Too long has that though crossed her mind of his possible death
Yet she waits
For her love for him is great
But hope is slowly draining from her
A silhouette emerges like a ghost from the fog
A familiar face she's grown to love appears a few feet away
Her waiting is over
He is home
