December 5th, 1941

Balto breathes in the sweet Hawaiian air as he strolls along the deck of the USS Arizona he looks out over the harbor and saw many ships moored to Ford Island he looked as the sun was setting over Pearl Harbor the sky reflected in the water he thought back to when he had met a nurse named Jenna when he was in the hospital with a broken leg. It was love at first sight Balto’s heart beat faster as he thought of her. Balto turned from looking at Ford Island and looked at the USS West Virginia that his son Kodi was serving on as a able seamen when Balto himself was a engineer working down in the engine rooms aboard the Arizona.

Jenna is walking along a road back to the nurses dormitories when she looks out at battleship row and the sun set she thinks back to the day before when she was working and met a person of whom she loved from the very moment she saw him.

Jenna as usual was working in the Hospitals keeping track of medical supplies when her friend Marge walked in saying “Jen we need help with some of the patients would you go and try to help out” Jenna nodded and said “would you finish this for me” Marge nodded Jenna walks out of the room and down a tiled hallway. She walked into a ward where she notices a doctor scurrying around trying to help with the patients of whom some were sun burnt and others had injuries related to the work they did on ships and airplanes.

She asked the doctor if he needed any help and he pointed to a young wolf hybrid laying on a cot fast asleep and said “would you clean his bandages and make sure his wound isn’t infected” she says “what happened to him?” he replies “he cut his leg while working down in the engine room of a battleship it is a pretty deep cut” she nodded and walked over to him. She looked at the wolf and noticed his fur was a brownish grayish color his paws had gray socks, she looked at his face and noticed his features were very wolf like unlike her she was a red and cream color husky with large brown eyes. She unwrapped his blood stained bandage on his right leg and noticed there was a large cut that had been done up with stitches, she poured disinfectant into a cloth and clean along the cut with it.

Balto felt a sharp jolt of pain shoot up his leg he opened his eyes to find a nurse cleaning his leg and he looked into her eyes which were focused on cleaning his leg and saw a softness in them along with caring he saw she had a red coat of fur with a cream color underbelly that was hidden by her nurse uniform. Balto says “so beautiful” Jenna’s ears perk as she hers this she looks at Balto and says “what” with a hint of curiosity in her voice Balto replies again “so beautiful” she blushes and looks into his soft brown eyes seeing herself reflecting in them. Balto replies “your so beautiful” Jenna continues to look into his face and sees he is being honest she replies “thank you.”

Balto looks at her then down at his leg and frowns saying “clumsy me” she replied “how did you hurt yourself” Balto replies “I tripped on something and cut my leg on a piece of machinery” she says “it must be hard work doing what you do everyday on a battleship” Balto says “yeah but you get used to it then everything becomes familiar and you don’t have to think about it anymore” she nods and says “done” Balto looks down at his leg and sees that it is all bandaged up and says “thanks” Jenna nods and gets up she says “nice meeting you” and walks away. Balto is released from the hospital the following day and he meets his son Kodi out front and Kodi drives Balto down to the docks and says “Dad please be careful” he nods and says “you to son” Kodi was Baltos son from a previous marriage that went wrong, Balto gets into a boat and watches as it pulls away from the dock and brings him to the Arizona. Kodi watches as his father disappears from view. Kodi gets into his car and drives to a local bar where he meets his childhood friend Lyon who is a black and white husky and hew serves aboard the battleship the USS Oklahoma while Kodi serves aboard the West Virginia.

Lyon watches as Kodi approaches and says “where were you” Kodi replies “I was picking up my father and driving him down to the docks so he could go back to the Arizona” Lyon nods and passes him a beer but Kodi says “no thanks” Lyon says “suit yourself” and takes a swig of the beer. Later on Kodi and Lyon went back to their battleships and they both feel asleep.

December 7th, 1941

Off the coast of Hawaii a massive fleet of Japanese aircraft carriers and battleships are moving towards Pearl Harbor. On the decks of the aircraft carriers planes are taking off and are heading towards Pearl Harbor 441 planes take off from the Japanese battleships and the sky rumble with the sounds of their engines as the reach the Hawaiian coast. The USS Ward had spotted and sunk a Japanese midget sub and had sunk it a radar station on Oahu picked up a large aerial formation on the radar and asked what it was the person replied back saying it was a group of B-17’s coming in from the mainland.

At 7:53 Balto was sleeping in his bunk on the Arizona when he heard explosions coming from somewhere he jumped out of his bunk and looked around as some of the other crew jumped out of their bunks as well the General Quarters Alarm meaning sailors are to report to their battle stations was given. Balto jumped into a pair of blue pants and a white t-shirt and he ran out on deck and manned a 50 Cal Anti Aircraft gun. Kodi and Lyon on their ships were both alerted to the sounds of battle that were coming from the harbor they could hear the sound of bullets pinging off of the ships hull, Kodi got dressed and ran out on deck and saw Japanese planes flying by and saw them spray the deck with bullets causing some sailors to fall over dead or wounded Kodi ran to a man laying dead on the deck and grabbed his rifle and Kodi started to shoot at any planes that flew by. Lyon to had gotten dressed and rushed up on the deck of the Oklahoma and grabbed a lifejacket that was laying on the deck he tied the straps around his waist and picked up a Browning Automatic Rifle also know as a BAR and shot like Kodi at any plane that went by.

At 8:00 a Japanese high level bomber sighted the Arizona and dropped a bomb that grazed the Arizona and exploded Balto thought “that was close” but another high level bomber dropped another bomb that tore through the deck of the Arizona between the number 1 and 2 turrets and landed in the Ammunition Magazine and it detonated in a massive fireball causing the bow to explode open and lift out of the water and it landed back into the water with a violent crash. Balto was thrown to the deck as the explosion rocked the ship he got up and saw the water creeping over the sides of the ship Balto turns and jumps into the oil clogged water.

Kodi heard the explosion and turned around and saw his fathers ship explode Kodi cried “dad no” just then the West Virginia was hit by five anti-aircraft torpedoes Kodi was blown completely off the West Virginia and hit the water with a thud.

Lyon continue to shoot at enemy planes until his ship was rocked by a explosion as it was hit by 3 torpedoes he fell to the deck and shook his head and saw the ship was starting to tip to port (left) side Lyon ran back into the ship to try and help the sailors in it try to pump out the water. As the Oklahoma started to tip farther into the water sailors began to climb onto anything to try to stay out of the water the climb on the massive gun turret and the chains of the anchor to try and get onto the starboard side of the ship that was now out of the water. Japanese planes bombed the Airfields around Pearl Harbor to render the planes useless to the American pilots.

Jenna had been sleeping before the attack had begun she was awoken by the sound of explosions she jumped out of bed and awoke her daughter Aleu who like Kodi was the offspring of a marriage that didn’t work. Aleu opened her eyes saying “mom let me sleep” but as she heard the explosions she sat up in bed her eyes wide with fear and says “mom whats going on” her voice quivered as she spoke Jenna replies “I don’t know but we better get to the hospital” Aleu nodded and she and her mother quickly got dressed and ran towards the hospital.

Meanwhile back in the harbor the Japanese continued to drop torpedoes and bombs onto the ships and shooting the sailor on the decks of the battleships, Kodi awoke floating in the oil clogged water and looked around as smoke from the Arizona billowed into the air he swam towards it and swam past many sailors who were struggling to survive on their own some were already dead others wounded now crying for someone to help them. As Kodi got closer to the Arizona he could feel the heat from the hulk of a devastated battleship, the water around it was ablaze with men floating around it dead he swam over to a familiar person that he saw floating near the stern of the Arizona Kodi saw it was his father.

Balto had been knocked out by a flying piece of metal that cut him across the head and his chest had been punctured by shrapnel, Kodi saw he was
