It was the final night of the Tweetsie Railroad's "Ghost Train." Bruno and his family were part of the next group to board the train after it unloaded. His sister was messing with the chain that was set out to keep people from getting onto the train tracks, his parents were talking, and Bruno was simply taking in the sights when the train pulled in and started unloading. He was just standing there, watching the passengers unload next to him, when something caught his eye. Stepping out of the car was one of the very last passengers left in it, and it was a gold tan she-wolf. Immediately their eyes locked but she moved on. Bruno, being a typical male, watched her walk away, when his mom noticed and nudged him. "It's not nice to stare, and wipe that drool off your face." Bruno answered, "Yes, but, but, me likey." Then the group boarded the Ghost Train, course now Bruno's mind was in other places. "I will search this park for her before we leave." Bruno thought as the train pulled away.
The train zoomed down the tracks. Bruno's sister was playing Goldfish with his mom. Bruno looked out the window to watch the trees and bushes flash by. He then heard the lunch trolley roll through the doors. The Foxhound pushing the trolley started to hand out bowls of soup and little sandwiches. She stopped at their seats and asked, "Supper?" Bruno's dad replied, "Yes please." She slowly handed them their soups and sandwiches and went onto the next family. Bruno's family ate but Bruno ate slowly thinking of the she-wolf again. He remembered she had red brown paws, underside, and chest. She also had a tan coat that shined like the summer sun. "Oh her eyes...her eyes could charm a wolverine. They were like little emeralds." He thought. Then he felt the train slowing to a stop. He looked out the window to see the next group. The doors opened and only 3 families unloaded. He looked into the aisle and the first wolf that loaded looked just like the she-wolf. Only instead of red brown she had black markings. She had a few silver hairs though. She walked to them and sat behind them. Bruno wondered, "Was this her mother?" He asked his dad for a piece of paper and pen. Once he got the paper and pen he started a note. The note said,
"Sorry to bother you but I saw a wolf that looks like you. I was wondering were you 2 related. I understand if you don't answer."
He passed it to her and waited. He heard a sniffle then the note was passed through the seats. He opened it and read it:
"That is my daughter, SummerBreeze. She ran away when her father died. I'm giving her some time because I know once she is done being sad, she will come home. Thank you...what's your name?"
He wrote his name then thought before adding something. Then he handed it back.
"I'm Bruno. I must say your daughter could turn heads. What city are you going to you?"
The note was passed back through the seats. He read it before he heard her whisper. "Goodnight Bruno."
"I'm Sable and I'm going to Oakdale."
He then realized evening was beginning now. In fall the days were a bit shorter. He settled back in his seat to get comfortable. He closed his eyes and dreamed of him and SummerBreeze racing the wind together. Hours later, the train stopped at the town of Oakdale. Bruno's family got their luggage and walked down the ramp. Bruno spotted Sable being picked up by someone. Bruno's uncle, Ruger stepped out of the crowd and shook paws with the family. "Welcome to my town!" Ruger said cheerfully. Bruno barked happily and his sister tried to nip Ruger's tail. But Ruger grabbed the little wolf and hugged her. Bruno's dad and Ruger then started to talk as they lead the way to Ruger's house. Once there Bruno and his cousin Twister played tug-o-war before they had to crawl into bed.
The next morning, Bruno told Twister about SummerBreeze but made him promise not to tell anyone. Twister nodded then asked, "So you think you can charm her?" Bruno wagged his tail, "Maybe." Twister looked at him odd as Bruno thought of her. "What?" Bruno asked. "You got a little slobber hanging from your mouth."

After 3 days at his uncle's, Bruno and his family once again got on a train back to their home. Bruno spent the afternoon trying to figure out how will he find SummerBreeze. She might be gone but it's worth a try to see her again. Bruno's sister kept his mind busy by playing a card game. That evening as they unloaded from the train, Bruno got feisty. "What has gotten into you son?" his father asked. "Got something on my mind." Bruno replied. His family took a cab to his home. That night as his family slept, he tiptoed out of the house and into the fall night. Minutes later he entered the Golden Wolf Pub and asked the bartender if he seen her. Bruno described him and another fellow, a terrier like male replied, "I saw her in the Homeless shelter. She was so sad but she looked pretty." "Thanks. That's her!" Bruno nodded and raced back home. He pounced on his bed and laid there for a sec before rolling and messing up his sheets in joy. He wanted to howl but that would wake the family. He didn't want that but he fell asleep quick knowing morning would be here.
Bruno trotted into the park the next morning. He told his mom he was going to be out of the house the whole day. She complained but let him go. He held his head with pride and kept practicing to himself what he would say. He saw a row of bushes up ahead and decided, "1 quick jump won't hurt. Maybe it'll help release some energy." Bruno gathered his speed and ran at them. He leaped and flew over the hedges. "Ahh!" Bruno and a another wolf went tumbling for a couple of seconds in the soft grass. When they stopped rolling, he was on top of her. "You can get off now." she said. Bruno scrambled off of her and looked at her. She was beautiful and when the sun hit her coat it almost blinded him. "I'm sorry my lady." He bowed and took her paw and kissed it lightly. "I'm SummerBreeze and hey I saw you at the train station!" she said cheerfully. Bruno smiled before he replied, "I'm Bruno and I say wow can you turn heads!" He slapped his paw over his mouth but SB laughed. "Oh really." She swished her tail over his snout. Bruno trembled under her touch. "Do you want to walk with me through the park?" Bruno asked. "I would be delighted." The 2 walked at each other sides and talked of their lives before they met.
Bruno busted through the doors howling with happiness. His sister was in the kitchen helping his mother fix lunch. "What on earth Bruno?" His mother snapped. Bruno slumped down in a chair and was chanting, "Thank you Lord! Wow, oh man am I lucky!" His sister picked up a wooden spoon and shook it at him. Bruno yelped and dashed to his room. He sat by the window thinking of SB. Tonight he would meet her and take a run down by the lake. Moments later his dad came up and asked, "You causing all that commotion?" Bruno looked at his dad. "Yes, Dad it was me. But can I explain it to you?" His father sat in his desk chair and Bruno sat on the bed. "What would you do at my age and you saw a beautiful, jaw-dropping female today?" His father thought for a bit before he replied, "I would take her on dates then I would marry her. Besides you're almost out of the house anyhow. Why do you ask?" Bruno got a dreamy look and said, "Because I saw her. The girl...she had gold tan coat with red brown markings. Her eyes were emerald green. Oh Dad you would fall for her to if you saw her." His dad smoked his pipe and leaned back. "So you going to charm this gal? What's her attitude?" "She's sweet and adventurous. A bit short-tempered but calm and it's great to be around her. But I'm not sure if it'll work." Bruno's dad shook his head. "Just treat her fine and don't worry. She'll warm to you." Bruno's father got up and walked out of the room. Bruno sat on his bed and then looked at the clock. Time to see her. He opened his window and scampered down the tree and raced out of the yard. His parents watched him race to the lake.

A hard knock on the front door that morning startled Bruno's mother. She went to the door and opened it. "Hello. May I help you?" she asked. "Yes where is Bruno and SummerBreeze now?" Sable asked. "They are outside playing tug-o-war." Bruno's mother beckoned to the living room. The father looked up and watched the Sable. "Is something wrong?" Sable flicked her tail and replied, "My daughter." Sable's face was sad.

"Bruno!" his mother called. Bruno put his paw up to pause their game before racing in. "What's up mom?" His mom pointed to the living room. Sable stood and nodded hello. Bruno was confused when he looked at his dad. His father gave Sable a look and she left. "Son....how am I going to explain this? See SB's mother doesn't want her daughter to see a man. She thinks that since SB has find love...her daughter will never see her again. Sable believes you'll take away the only thing she has left."
Bruno shouted, "But I love SB and she loves me. She can just try to get past me but not make me move a inch! I'm not stealing SB away from her mother." Bruno's dad growled a warning and Bruno felt anger at Sable. Sable would take his love away.

Bruno sighed then he made up his mind. He would go rescue SB and argue with her mother. He sneaked downstairs and out into the night. The wind nipped at him but he raced to the apartments. A determined expression was on his face and his heart was set. SB told him she would be there. He walked into the building a few minutes later. "What room is Ms. Sable in?" he asked. "319 pup." The old Scottish Terrier replied.
Bruno nodded then dashed upstairs and searched for the room. He found it and heard shouting coming
