It was early morning in Nome. A young wolfdog began to stirr. Her name was Kylie and she was cream with brown fur. She looked like Jenna, but with light brown fur and she had piercing golden eyes. Most of the dogs in Nome did not really know that she was part wolf. In fact she looked just like a husky except her tail couldn't curve but no one seemed to notice. If they did ask, she just told them it was an old injury from when she was a pup. She was kind of embarrassed about being part wolf, because lately all the people wanted to do was kill any wolf in sight.

She also wore a worn orange bandana. She had no clue where it came from, but one day she found in a crawl space under the boiler room. She also found some broken bottles, but she had no idea why they were there either.

Anyway, she walked around Nome and saw as group of male huskies standing nearby.

"Hey Kylie!" they yelled. some of them whistled at her too. "Animals." She thought to herself, rolling her eyes.

Then she saw her friends Tori and Chase.

"Hey Kylie!" Chase said. He was a tan husky with Balto's markings.

"Hey. I'm so bored right now. You?" asked Kylie.

"Nope. Chase and I are going to watch the races being held today. Want to come?" said Tori. (Tori was a shetland sheepdog.)

"Yes! I had no idea the races were being held today!" said Kylie.

"Well then what are you waiting for??? The races start soon, let's go!" screeched Tori and she ran towards the end of the town, followed by Chase and Kylie.

The races started and the three dogs as well as townspeople watched eagerly to see who would win. The races latest almost the whole afternoon, so when the sled teams came back and were congraduated, it was dark.

"Well I should get home to my girl." said Tori. "See you tomorrow!"

"Me too. See ya." added Chase and he walked away.

Kylie knew that she should probably get back to her girl too, but lately these days her girl was too busy. "I guess I could explore of something."

Kylie was bored once again, but she really wanted to do something. Then she thought for awhile and finally remembered the crawl space in the boiler room. "The bandana..." She thought and looked down at her worn bandana. "Maybe theres more inside."

Kylie ran into the boiler and looked around. She was alone. "Perfect. I can explore without being interupted."

Kylie quietly walked towards the covered up crawl space. It had a worn and dusty blanket over it and she lifted it up and stepped inside.

"Ugh..."she said as she walked into a spider web. "It's so dark down here, and so...old."

Finally she came to what she was looking for. "The bottles." she whispered.

She walked up to them. "Broken..." she said quietly. Then something strange happened. AS she moved one of the bottles slightly to see if they covered anything, the light hit them and she saw the northern lights appear.

"Wow..." she said in a low whisper. Yet, she felt scared almost. Whne she went to move one bottle, she moved it in a certain position like she knew to move it in that direction. "This is so weird." She thought.

"Well, maybe I'll come back tomorrow." Kylie thought then she left and covered up the crawl space. She did not know why, but she wanted to make this a secret place for herself.

When she walked towards her owner's house, she noticed that the doors were locked and that they would not wake to the sound of her scratching. She saw some crates piled up and without thinking jumped up them and into an open window.

"Okay, since when can I do that?!" Kylie said to herself.

"Strange things sure are happening today."She thought, then she walked over to her bed and fell asleep.

Kylie began to dream and she saw mixed images.

"A dog cannot make this journey alone, but maybe a wolf can..." Kylie sees an image of a howling wolfdog and hears a voice speak.(Balto howling after Aniu left.)

Kylie also saw the cliff that Balto fell down with the medicine.

*wolf howl* An image of a wolf's face on a totem pole apears.

Then Kylie sees the northern lights from a wolf head that moves his head down towards its neck then rises to howl (The image in Balto one at the end of the movie before the statue scene comes.)

Suddenly mages began to flash rapidly, first Aniu looking down at Balto, then the northern lights wolf howling, the wolf picture on the totem pole, flashing of lights with another wolfdog( Aleu with Muru while hes singing), then everything goes black and she hears Aniu howling with Balto.

Kylie:*gasps*

"This is really getting too weird. And what's with all this wolf business? Something strange is going on..." Kylie said.

After some breakfast, Kylie walked into Nome and met Chase.

"O, hi Kylie." Chase said with a hint in his voice that he was depressed.

"Something wrong?" Kylie asked.

"Yeah, come with me." Chase said then he walked towards the center of Nome. There was a large crowd forming, and they were all pointing at something and talking.

Chase and Kylie pushed through the people and saw a gray wolf lying motionless on a sled. The wolf had a bullet mark in it's neck and it's eyes were shut as if it was in a deep sleep. It was a fairly large wolf too, also, it was very beautiful, but now it was dead.

Kylie gasped at the sight. Without thikning, she turned and ran. She kept running, even though she could hear Chase's voice calling her back. But she'd never turn back. Not if she had to see that horrible sight again. Finally Kylie found herself on the beach of Nome. in the distance she could see snowy hills and the thick trees of a forest. But right in front of her was a very old boat. It was ompletly abandoned she found out, as she looked around.

"I guess I'll stay here for now." Kylie said.

Kylie was very worried. This is exactly why shes afraid of the fact that shes part wolf. Look what the humans do the wolves. At least Chase seemed upset. Or maybe he was annoyed. Kylie was so confused she couldn't tell. Then she knew what she must do.

"I have to enter the forest." Kylie said. It sounds weird, but Kylie, because of her wolf side, always wanted to enter Nome's forest and see what it was like.

So it's final. Kylie would get early sleep now and sneak out of Nome in the middle of the night to enter the forest.

she spent the day exploring the old ship. It smelled faintly of wolf or dog. And then Kylie realized that this was also what her bandana smelled like. This boat must be connected in a way to my bandana.

You see, Kylie had no idea she was related to Balto. She was adopted as a very young pup, so any time she asked questions about her family, her mother would always change the subject.

As the day went on, it got darker and darker. Finally, it was night and after watching the aurora borealisis for quite sometime, Kylie left the boat.

She walked into the forest and through it's dense trees. After walking until she couldn't feel her paws, she saw the cliff.

"It's real?!?!" she gasped. Then she looked at it and walked over towards it's edge.

Next, she began to carefully and slowly make her way to the bottom of the cliff.

Suddenly, she tripped and went tumbling down and hit the bottom, landing on her side. she let out a yelp as she hit the ground, then everything went black.

When she woke up. She was looking into the face of another wolfdog. Almost immediatly, she knew it was Balto.

Next to him stood Aniu. They both looked down at Kylie, and slowly, Kylie stood up.

Her legs shaking, Kylie tried to stand straight.

"Do not dismiss your wolf heritage." began Balto. "Although it may be hard, remember what you are part of."

Aniu looked at Kylie and howled. Her spirit drifter into the Northern Lights and they formed once again, a wolf howling.

 "Listen to the heritage of the wolf. And always Reach for the Light." Balto said then howled amd disappeared.

"Remember what you are part of." Balto's voice echoed in her ears.

Kylie looked up at the cliff and steadily made her way to the top.

She took the rest of the day to relax her muscles and mind. Then in the evening, she called the town dogs to a meeting in the boiler room.

Later that day, she entered the boiler room. Most of the twon dogs were there and they watched her as she came in. She looked around and didn't see Chase. "Hes probably mad at me." she thought.

Kylie stepped through the crowdand jumped up on a crate to get their attention.

"What do you want?" one of the dogs said rudely.

"I want to tell you and the rest of these dogs something." Kylie snapped.

"Ahem." Kylie said.

All the dogs stopped talking.

"I know most of you are wondering why I've called a meeting here. And let me speak, I have something important to say." Kylie said.

"I have lied to you about my tail. It is not an accident, acrually now i see it's quite nice. It's like this because.....I am part wolf." Kylie said.

The dogs gasped, but before they could speak, Kylie did.

"Most of you probably hate me now. But I don't care. I am proud of my heritage. Although most of you do not know him, I am related to Balto, the dog hero who saved Nome some years ago. He was part wolf, and an outcast. He saved the children and made history. He is a true legend. I want to continue his legacy. Let it be known, his endurance, his intelligence, his fedelity, and his bravery. He was the meaning of a true hero, and his story needs to be known. He was one of the most bravest dogs you'd ever hear of. I could say a thousand words, but they could never completly describe his brvery. I am proud of my heritage and pround to be related to him. And he taught me the most important thing you can know. Never give up. Or, as he put it, reach for the light." Kylie said.

Most of the dogs stared. Others seemed deeply into what she was saying. Then someone spoke.

"Well then that explains a lot." someone chuckled.

"Chase." Kylie said seing it was Chase who had
