food.
Nava dug through the frozen soil until he found what he was looking for. A large bumpy root came into view. It was a whitish green-brown colour. Lycon didn't like the look of it at all.
"Try it," coaxed Nava. "It's delicious." Lycon took a bite. The root tasted bitter, but in a good sort of way. Besides, he was so hungry he didn't care. It was nourishing. He and Nava dug four more, shared one, and saved the rest for Umbra and Niju. Lycon, for once, felt full. He dug up more; there seemed to be an entire bonanza of roots.
Nava noticed the grizzly bear before Lycon did. But by then, it was too late anyway.

Like you, I too wondered about Nava and Niju. I like this story, and it rasies good questions and thoughts. Can't wait for Part 2. Keep writing! |
