Chapter 10.

THE HATRED OF REVENGE

“What happened next?” Balto asked Suar. They were still standing by the woods.

“Well, for four long years I lived in a dark forest, where no one goes, all by myself, separated from everyone. You know why? I was scared to return to Nome, because I was scared of your dad. He was a monster, Balto. So I lived there for four years, until Aniu told me to go to the coast, cross the ice bridge and join your daughter’s pack.”

“That’s not too bad.” Balto said and smiled.

“Yet, I didn’t finish my story. I hated Aleu from the moment I saw her. She wasn’t even a wolf, but she led a wolf pack; she wasn’t strong and experienced at all, but the wolves respected her; finally, she did absolutely nothing to become a leader, but she was one.”

“Aleu did everything to find out who she is! She went on a journey, she found a wolf pack, she didn’t…” Balto was a bit angry and Suar didn’t let him finish the sentence.

“Not true. Going against your parents’ will, being stubborn, and then getting a “reward” for that is a bit unfair, don’t you think. But then she talked about you. She told me that you became a hero in Nome, that you have family, pups, so in other words that you have a great life. SO I thought that while you were getting all the fame and saving the town, I had to suffer. I couldn’t resist the hatred anymore, so I killed Aleu! But the sprits didn’t like it, so they cursed me. Now I have to ask you for forgives, or I will become a zombie, and I don’t want to be that, coz that just sound creepy.” Suar looked up at Balto.

“What kind of forgiveness are you talking about, after you killed my daughter?” Balto got furious and he couldn’t bear looking at Suar anymore. Balto found her actions disgusting and horrible. He couldn’t believe that Suar was such a vile wolf.

“You bitch; I will make you pay for Aleu’s death!” He growled at Suar.

“Balto, you have no idea how I felt! Right now I really hate what I’ve done, I know that you are totally mad with me, because I see that Aleu meant a lot to you…”

“Not just a lot! She was my only wolf-daughter that I was proud of. I was extremely joyful when she found her path in this life, but then you came and killed her. But enough about Aleu at the moment. I am sure you made up that entire thing about mother hating you, my dad terrifying you and me spoiling your life! It wasn’t my fault that I am more a dog than a wolf. I think that you were the selfish one, seeking for attention and blaming the ones that are getting it. How old were you? ½ a year, right? Me and my brothers were newborns and extra-care and attention were vital for us. You expected mother to forget about us and spend all of her time with you?!”

“Oh, you weren’t there! I never said that I wanted my mother to give me all of her attention. I know my next question will be stupid and pointless, but…do you forgive me?” Suar was looking at Balto. The wind was blowing in her direction.

“What?! No w...”

“Forgive her, Balto.” Said Boris. He was standing behind Balto.

“You heard everything, right? But I can’t forgive her after all she’s done!” Balto looked at Suar and bared his teeth.

“I don’t care. It’s your decision. I just wanna say that it is all hatred that ruled my mind. Right now I wanna apologize and if I could I would bring Aleu back to life, but I can’t. I am sorry Balto.” Suar sounded pretty calm. She had tears in her eyes.

“I am not a nasty and mean person, Suar. I...I…no, I can’t say that!” Balto turned away from Suar.

“Then don’t.” Replied Suar.

“Still, you’re a part of my family; you’re the connection between me and my childhood. I forgive you. Now leave, and never return to me again.”

EPILOGUE

Suar left Balto and later fell in love with a lone wolf like her, and they formed a new pack.

Balto was very depressed, when he found out that Aleu died, but the next spring Jenna had two pups – a boy and a girl that both were white like snow and both were wolf-like.

The same spring Stella came to visit Boris and the old goose was happy once more.

Nava’s old pack stopped existing after Aleu’s death. The wolves couldn’t choose a wolf to be a new leader, so they finally decided to stop being a pack and have their own separate lives.
