Suar was looking at Balto as well. ‘Nothing happens.’ Balto felt more relaxed and smiled at Suar. Unexpectedly Balto felt shivers running through his body, he didn’t move and he just kept staring at Suar. The cold wasn’t leaving him, but Balto didn’t have the strength to turn away.

He blinked. Suar was gone and Balto was standing alone, still motionless. Balto could hear Boris cleaning the boat on the other side.

“Hey, Boris, can I talk to you?” He said. Balto’s voice was very weak and Boris didn’t hear him.

In about two minutes Boris finished cleaning one side of the boat and moved to the other side. Balto was still standing unmoving.

“Oh, hello Balto. You don’t seem to be alright to me.” The goose said.

“You were right. I was talking to Suar just a minute ago, everything seemed to be alright, but when I looked in her eyes I felt shivers all over my body!”

“it happened to you as well! I swear that wolf has a devil inside!” Bois started being mysterious.

“You are a bit exaggerating about the devil, but I don’t know how to call that.”

“A curse!” Boris said very quickly.

“No! Not a curse.” Balto was feeling very weak and he was having difficulties with pronouncing the words clearly. “I wonder…” Balto fainted.

Chapter 5.

THE LINE (a flashback to the time, before Suar met Balto)

Aleu was being very nice to Suar. Suar was a bit disappointed in Aleu, because she expected a wolf pack leader to be more serious and strict. Aleu was a complete opposite to that. She was running around, laughing and was acting carelessly.

“We know she is a bit weird.” One of the wolves said to Suar.

Suar felt inner hatred towards Aleu. First of all, Suar hated the fact that Aleu did nothing to be a leader of the pack. Second, she thought that it is unfair on her, because she is a pure blood wolf, and she had to live in exile, while Aleu is a wolf-dog and she lives among the wolves But most of all, she hated, that Aleu was Balto’s daughter, and that meant that Balto had a family and probably a home, but she, Suar, had nothing after all what happened.

The familiar feeling of revenge came back. This time it was stronger and more tempting than before.

Suar fell asleep very quickly that day. She saw the white female wolf again, but in her dream this time.

“Suar, I am happy that you did what I said, but you have to remember something!” the white wolf said.

“It’s you again!” Suar got exited.

“It is me, my daughter. Listen to me one more time, and then I will leave you.” The white female said.

“No, I won’t! I hate you, because you made me suffer – you ruined my childhood and then you left me…” Suar got angry.

“I am sorry. But it is not all my fault that you suffered!”

“You were just blinded with your foolish love and you refused to listen to me!”

“Don’t accuse love, if you don’t know what it is.”

“I don’t care!” Suar growled at the white wolf in her dream.

“I care about you, though. I will still say what I have to say. As you know, Aleu is Balto’s daughter, and you hated Balto all your life, right?”

“I am surprised you knew that!” Suar was being sarcastic.

“Don’t be so surprised. In one of Aleu’s dreams, I asked her to take care of a ginger female wolf, which will step on her territory. My granddaughter is doing you a big favor – she is giving you a proper home. I know that sooner or later, you will start hating Aleu, because she is Balto’s daughter and all that stuff. Whatever happens, please don’t cross the line! Don’t do any harm to her It is not just because she is being kind to you, but also because the spirits like her and they will be on her side if someone will threaten or attack her. Remember my words…Don’t cross the line…” Aniu’s face faded away.

Chapter 6.

THE TIMES WE WERE TOGETHER

Balto woke up. It was night and the full yellow moon was high up in the sky. The wolf-dog was all by himself inside the boat. ‘How long have I been unconscious for?’ He though and got up. Balto looked around and saw nothing but the darkness. He heard someone walking along the coast. It was Boris. Balto went up to him.

“Hi Boris. Where is Suar?” Balto asked and yawned.

“Suar? I don’t know. I haven’t seen her since you had a conversation with her.” Boris replied. He was in his own mind. Balto didn’t say anything else and just looked at the ocean. It was calm.

“What are you thinking about?” He finally asked

“I am thinking about that day when she left me and said that she will come back as soon as she can. A year had passed and she didn’t return.” Boris sounded depressed.

“Are you about Stella?” Balto asked.

“Yes. I was so happy when she was here with me! We had so many things in common. We used to love looking at the moon together or simply being together all the time! Then she left me…forever!”

“Well, you never know that. She can come back to you.” Balto tried to cheer up Boris.

“She would come back if she would love me! I am sure that very soon after she flied away she found someone else younger and fitter than me.”

“Think about a better situation. Maybe she is looking for a present for you that she can carry across the ocean or…” Balto didn’t know what else to say. The “present” version sounded a bit dull.

“No, she isn’t looking for a present. She forgot me, my name, how I look like.”

Balto thought that the best thing to do is to leave Boris and go and look for Suar.

“Boris, I am going to leave you, because I have to find Suar!” Balto said and ran away.

Chapter 7.

THE REVENGE OF HATRED (a flashback to the time, before Suar met Balto)

Suar stayed in Aleu’s pack for nearly a week. She made very good friend with Aleu, or Aleu thought so anyway. Sometimes Suar was giving Aleu some tips of how to control the pack. She was stronger and smarter than most of the wolves in the pack and earned the respect from them very quickly. Aleu was blessing Aniu for sending Suar to her pack. However Aleu knew absolutely nothing about Suar.

One day Aleu was exploring her lands and she called Suar to go with her. Suar agreed and went along with Aleu.

“So, Aleu” Suar said, as they walked. “How did you become a leader of a wolf pack?” She asked

“A long story. It all started in Alaska.” Aleu answered.

“Are you from Alaska?” Suar pretended to be surprised.

“Didn’t you know that? My father is a hero in Nome and my mother is a beautiful husky.”

“How did your father become a hero?”

“He saved Nome, the town where my family lives, from diphtheria. He is a sled dog and he brought the vaccine from another state and went through a very long journey with his sled team.”

‘Balto is hero! How unfair is that!’ Suar thought. “What about you then?” She asked.

“My grandmother was a wolf, and I got the looks from her. All my siblings were huskies, but I was different from everyone. Once the hunter tried to kill me and I realized that I am different. I was so furious that I ran away. While I was alone, my spirit guide told me that I have to find who I am. My father went to look for me, and on the next day he found me far away from home. We both continued the journey and soon we met a wolf pack that had to follow the caribous and cross the big water. The old leader of the wolf pack said that the white female wolf was sending him dreams, where she was telling him that the one that will lead the wolf pack will be a wolf that doesn’t know that doesn’t know that he is a wolf. My father was having dreams about a wolf pack as well, so everyone thought that he was the one to lead the pack. On the next day an ice bridge that crossed the ocean appeared. My father wasn’t very confident about leading a wolf pack, because he was a sled dog. Then we all realized that I am the wolf that has to take over the pack. So we crossed the ocean and now I am the leader of the wolf pack!” Aleu sounded very proud of herself.

Suar hated Aleu even more now. ‘I was right. She did absolutely nothing to get a wolf pack. Balto had a wonderful life, and he even managed to become a hero of his town. That is so unfair. Balto and his father both ruined my life and now he is a hero of his little town full of dogs and humans, he has a beautiful mate and his daughter is a leader of a pack! I hate him even more now. I have to revenge and I don’t care what mother said in my dream. She never loved me, so why should I do what she said?’ Suar thought.

“Aleu, I have to tell something to you.” She said.

“Ok, then.” Aleu smiled.

“I am your dad’s half sister. Your grandfather was a dog that killed your grandmother and her other two children. However, he left Balto alive. I tried to kill Balto, because he took all of mother’s love, and because of him I had to suffer and his father used to treat me like dirt. When I was trying to kill Balto your grandfather saw me doing that, so I had to run away. I lived in exile for four long years, and now I just found out that while I was suffering, Balto had a wonderful life!!! But then Aniu appeared and told me that I
