Vengeance and Exile

“Get him!” Steele flew through the back alley widely, skidding to a stop the snow splashed against the houses that surrounded him and he gaped around madly. The voices ensuing grew louder and louder. Kicking up his feet he lunged jumping upon a wobbly Steele trash can and up over the fence, his knees caught the edge and he flew over landing on his side with a yelp.

“In the alley, do you see him?” Voices rang out as his ragged breathe could be seen in the frozen air. With a heavy gasp Steele heaved himself up and dodged through the snowy alley’s glancing around his ears laid back, “Heh, its not so easy to catch Ste—“ Star had jumped in front of him, Steele stumbled back into the rigidly pile of trash cans and the came tumbling down upon him. Knocking the foolish malamute unconscious in a heap of noise as he fell into the cold stone and the tins crumpled upon him.

He groaned, opening his eye, just one eye. Was he dead? A warm glow was emitted around him. He shot up, distraught and terrified, “Oh no I’m in Hell!” Steele whirled around and jumped back slamming into the wall with a groan. “You’re not in Hell Steele.” Balto stepped out from a group of dogs.

Indeed the wolf dog spoke the truth; he was only in the boiler room. He snarled viciously at him hackles raised and was suddenly knocked down by one of his own? Kaltag had hit him with brute force as he had never seen before, “We’re here for the collar Steele.” Balto shook his head, “Do not stoop to his level Kaltag, he has made a fool of himself enough.”

Steele stumbled up, “Then what do you all want!” he snapped, the dogs spoke up. “The collar should go to the best sled dog in Nome and surely now that is not you Steele.” He stepped back, “No one is taking my collar...”

Out of the group emerged Star gulped and screamed, “Steele you don’t deserve that!” as he made a bold move advancing forward, he looked more terrified then he ever had in his life, yet his eyes gleamed with a wild look of confidence. Suddenly he took a quick dodge snapping the collar right off of Steele with a fierce tug. The force of the snap tossed the weak sled dog into the wall as he tumbled. The pack of dogs fell silent, in awe.

But Steele was not to say the least bit pleased, his eyes wild with rage as he snarled vowing, “Balto I’m going to come back one day and it shall be the death of you!” He bolted past the group, who paid no heed to his warning, standing around Balto as they proudly brought him the collar and lay it before him.

Steele flew through the town, faster then he had ever run in his life, as he came to the edge of town he turned, fur blowing against the wind. “Next time I come back, I’m going to kill him and all that follow in his blood…”His hollow snicker echoed through the town as he trotted off into the woods to the nearest town to regain forces, re-group and plot his return, he vowed to rise again and there would be blood…
