over to her and nuzzles her awake she opens her eyes and says “Balto” Balto starts to lick her and she starts to have tears run down her fur Balto says “how are you doing Jen” she looks up at Balto tears in her eyes saying “not so good Balto” he cocks his head and presses his paw to her chest and can feel her heart beating so slowly it almost seem she has no heart beat at all he looks into her eyes and says “what have they done to you Jen” she looks away and says with her head hung low she replies “the humans starve us and I refused to eat and now look at me” Balto says “Jenna I have a plan to break you out of here” Jenna lifts her head and says “I cannot leave and have all these dogs remain here to suffer” Balto nods and says “I have a plan but we will wait till morning” Jenna nodded and Balto laid down next to her and they both fell asleep.

The next morning Balto awoke and got up and walked out of the building by this time the humans were feeding the dogs, Balto got a piece of meat and walked back into the building he walked over to Jenna and found she was already awake he told her “here eat” he dropped the meat down infront of her she ate it rather quickly she looked at Balto and says after she was done eating “what is your plan for getting us out of here” Balto looked at her and says “I will open the gate to this pen and the front gate all there is on the front gate is a wooden bar with rope attached to it I will grab onto the rope and lift the wooden bar up and the door will open” she looked at him and said “what about the humans they have guns” he replies “don’t worry they will be soo busy trying to catch us they will leave the gate unguarded” Jenna nods. They both walk out of the building and towards the gate to the chain wire fence and sees a padlock on the gate and replies “thinks complicates things a bit” Jenna says “how did you get in” Balto replies back threw a hole in the fence” Jenna says “can’t we use that to escape” Balto says “yes I suppose we could once the humans see that dogs are leaving they will unlock the gate and we will rush them and escape towards the front entrance” Jenna nods. Every dog began to hear about a break out soon every dog was talking about it by mid afternoon Balto was ready he told the dogs to start to move towards the hole in the wooden fence all of a sudden one of the humans notices the dogs are escaping he says “the dogs are escaping” a rather burly human comes running towards the chain fence and all the dogs rush out some of the humans are knocked over by the wave of dogs other humans fire their guns into the crowd of dogs killing some of them, Balto runs to the front entrance and grabs hold of the rope in his mouth and pulls with all his might to lift the wooden bar slowly the bar begins to lift until it lifts completely and all the dog surge out of the camp and down the hill and out of view followed by the humans.

Balto and Jenna just start to leave when a gun shot rings out and the bullet hits the wooden bar shattering it and sending bits of bark everywhere Balto turns around and sees the heavily scarred human standing there breathing heavily with the gun in his hand smoking he says “you damn mutt where do you think you’re going” Balto says to Jenna “run” they both start to run away from the human with him following close behind firing his gun at them. Jenna and Balto runs to the edge of a cliff all of a sudden they turn around and see the human standing there saying “end of the line” Balto says “get behind me Jen” she gets behind him. Balto looks into the humans eyes barring his teeth and growling he charges at him the human raises his gun and fires. Balto falls to the ground with a bullet that passed in between the space between his heart and right lung he gasps for air then the human walks over to him and places his foot on Baltos throat and points the gun at his head as he is about to fire Jenna rushes up and knocks the human and herself over the cliff. Balto screams “no” he gets up and winces at the pain he looks at his chest and can see a steady stream of blood coming out of the bullet wound, he makes his way to the bottom of the cliff and finds the human laying dead and near him lays Jenna.

He makes his way over to her and says “Jenna” she opens her eyes and looks into his saying “I…I…love you…” her eyes glaze over and she passes on to the other side, Balto looks at her his heart stops beating for an instant and watches as her body relaxes from the life leaving her he says “Jenna don’t go don’t leave me here” he nuzzles her and starts to cry into her fur.

Jenna appears in a place that shines bright in her eyes and she starts to see a dark shape walking towards her she sees that it is a white wolf, the white wolf speaks to her in some distance voice saying “Jenna go back’ Jenna looks at her and says “who are you” the white wolf again says in a distance voice “ I am Balto mother Aniu” Jenna stands there and says “you are” the white wolf nods and says “don’t leave my son he needs you” all of a sudden Jenna sees her body laying on the ground and see Balto crying the white wolf says “you are the very reason Balto stays alive’ Jenna looks at Aniu and says “how do I go back” the white wolf touches her nose and Jenna feels herself being sucked backwards and she lands in her body gasping for breathe her vision comes back into focus Balto looks into her eyes and can see the life in them again he says in a surprised voice “Jenna” she nods. Balto lets Jenna up and nuzzles her she looks at the wound on Balto and says “let me help you she takes a leaf and plugs it into the wound and says “that will have to do for now” he nods and says “Jenna look” she notices he is looking out over the hill and at the view and she looks as well. The sun is setting over the valley and the lake and the hills are the color of red and orange the sky is the color of a soft pink with purple Jenna and Balto sit on the hillside and watch as the sun sets over the valley.
