Dogknapped

Opening: The cold wind howled through the streets and alleyways of Nome all of a sudden a dog comes running up the alley way and skids to a halt in the middle of a deserted street, he listens for any noise but can only hear the sound of the wind howling. He turns around and looks in the opposite direction all of a sudden a dark shape rushes behind him, the dog whips around and looks down the road and at the buildings lining the road his heart pounds in his chest. Then all of a sudden he is hit in the back of the head with something and sees no more.

A week later Balto awoke to a new morning he stood up and stretched the sun warming his body as he did so, he took in the fresh morning air and exhaled and thought “ I am glad that my reputation has gotten better” 2 weeks earlier Balto had been accused of killing a sled dog and almost paid for it with his life but the truth was revealed that he did not do it and the culprit had been caught and killed.

Balto walked into the town of Nome and met Jenna and his son Kodi near the post office Jenna looked into Baltos eyes and said “where have you been” Balto stood before her and replied “sorry Jen I was still sleeping” Kodi looked at his father and said “hear about what happened last night” Baltos ears perked up when he heard Kodi say this and he replied “no what happened” Kodi looked at his father and then looked at his mother and say she was listening intently he replies “a dog last night disappeared” Balto’s eyes widen and he says “how” Kodi replied “no one know how all anyone knows is that he is gone without a trace” Balto looked into his sons eyes and then at Jenna who was looking at the ground. Jenna looked up at Balto and he says “well lets not have any more bad news ok” Kodi nodded as did Jenna, later that day Balto and Jenna were walking towards Rosies house when Jenna says “Balto” Balto stopped and turned to face her and he replies “yes Jen” she looks at him and says “nothing” she licks him and runs to Rosies house and disappears inside, Balto stood there confused and went home.

Jenna had fallen asleep at the foot of Rosies bed and all of a sudden she heard a crash that came from one of the rooms beyond Rosies door, Jenna got up and walked to the door way her heart ways beating fast she thought to herself “what was that” she walked through the threshold of Rosies doorway and into the living room she noticed that one of the windows was open and the cold wind was blowing threw it. Jenna walks over to the window and hears something behind she jumps around and notices a bottle rolling on the floor and thinks “it was just a bottle there is nothing there” just as Jenna was making her way back to Rosies room a dark figure came up from behind her, Jenna turns around and then sees nothing but blackness envelop her vision and sees no more.

She awoke to find herself on a train with many other dogs, she got up but then fell back down to the floor of the train she put her paw to her head and could feel warm blood seeping threw a cut on her head after she sees the blood on her paw she passes out. She awoke and was to find a dog in her face she jumped up and says “don’t hurt me” the dog looked at her and says “no one is going to hurt you” she replies “where are we” the dog replies “some strange human contraption’ Jenna looks from the dog and then at the other dogs that are in there with her she notices that they all have worried and confused looks on their faces Jenna looks back at the dog and replies “where are we going” the dog looks at the floor and says “I dunno” she turns from the slats in the door and sees the land rushing past them fast she thinks “Balto help me.”

In Nome Balto wakes up and his heart hurts, he lifts up his paw and rubs his chest the pain soon dissipates all of a sudden he sees his soon rushing towards the boat Balto says “what is it” Kodi replies “moms gone” Balto feels like his heart his been wrenched out of his chest and he jumps off his boat and walks up to Kodi. Balto stands in front of his son and says “where did she go” Kodi shook his head and says “I don’t know when I went to her house she was gone” Baltos heart beats faster Kodi looks into his fathers eyes and sees nothing no signs of life in them and says “we will find them’ Balto snaps back to reality and nods his head they both run into Nome and try to search for Jenna.

Meanwhile Jenna and the other dogs on the train and all of a sudden the train stops and Jenna hears one of the humans saying “we have to get these dogs to Vermont before tomorrow night” another humans says “yes I agree” the train comes to life again and heads towards a unknown destination.
