Balto's Adventure

Ch.2

Balto ran into town he serched for Jenna. He came up to Rosie's house. He scratched on the door. Rosie opened it."Balto!Hi boy how are you? Do you want to see Jenna? Come on in boy!" she said.

Balto walked in the house. Jenna was in the kitchen.

"Jenna!" Balto said.

"Hey Balto!" she replied.

"Jenna you need to come right away, I found someone who needs help!" he said

Jenna became silent. She knew something was really bothering Balto. They left the house. They started off toward Balto's home. When they went up the ramp Jenna found a battle scared wolf fast asleep.

"Balto,who's that?" She asked

"Thats Kane. I found him this morning. His pack shund him because he didn't kill his father." Balto explained.

"What!?"exclaimed Jenna

"He said it was the code of the wolf or something,anyways he's got a terrible fever,and those cuts. He must have been through alot," said Balto.

"Well for now let him rest. Oh and I'll be gone for a while. Rosie and the folks are going to White Mountain to visit family and we're leaving today," Jenna said.

"Alright, bye!" said Balto.

A few hours later Kane awoke. He studied the boat. Standing on the port was Balto overlooking the town. Kane went over to Balto.

"Hey Balto," he said.

"Oh, hi kane. Feeling better now?" he asked.

"Yeah,much better a little hungry though," Kane said.

"Well lets go to town and see what there is there," Balto said

Kane had never gone into town. He had never seen so many humans in one place. But still he was starving and he had no other choice.

"What, are you shy?" asked Balto.

"Actually, yeah kinda. I have never been in a town before. But I've seen humans,"said Kane.

"Well don't worry evryone is really nice here,lets go,"said Balto

Balto and Kane wandered into town. Kane followed Balto,trying not to fall behind. They came up to the butchers. Balto went around to the back door. He scratched on the door. A big fat man came out holding a big knife.

"Balto! How's it going boy. I see you made a new friend. Looks a little roughed up. Come on in boy and I'll get you something to eat," he said

Balto and Kane followed the butcher into the shop. The buther went to his meat locker and pulled out some raw sausages.

"Here you go boy," said the butcher.

Balto carried off the sweet meat. Kane followed. The rich scent filled his delicate nostrils. When they got Balto's home, Balto gave the meat to Kane.

"Aren't you going to eat?" Kane asked.

" I'm not hungry right now,maybe later. Besides you need it more than I do," he said

Kane bolted down the sausages. Balto went over to the side and kept over looking the town. It was getting dark. He had a long day. He laid down,big head on forepaws. He was tired, he gave a big yawn. Kane finished the rest of the meat and dug into the big blanket.

"So were is your pack?" He asked

Balto remained silent for a while. He sighed and said "I've never been in a pack. When I was just a pup I got seperated from my mother. Then a goose,Borris found me and raised me like his own. Besides I'm only part wolf," he said.

"You were raised by a goose. Wow you must have had some life," Kane said

"Well he didn't teach me much. Actually nothing at all. He was just around to look after me. But I never knew what it was like to live in a pack," said Balto

"So you've never been in a pack before? Hm, you must have been lonley," said Kane.

"Well I have a few friends that are dogs. They live in town. I used to be very lonely until I saved the town. You see there was this disease and the children were very sick. They were out of antitoxin. So they sent a dog team out to retrieve it. Then a blizzard moved in and they couldn't find their way back. So I tracked them and helped bring back the medicine," Balto explained

" Whoa you did all that!? No wonder the town loves you," said Kane

"Well its nothing really. I just wanted to help those kids," said Balto

"Alright well good night," he said

" Good night," replied Kane
