"Few people or dogs remember the start, they forget after time passes. But I do, I remember everything...

It was warm, and comfortable. I loved it, I felt safe, and loved. I wanted to stay there forever, but, fate wouldn't let me. I had a bad feeling and suddnely, I felt a tug and everything turned cold. I whimpered as hard as I could, and felt a familiar scent, it was sweet, and I remember having felt it's nuzzles before. I tried and looked for it and found fur, then I started to nurse, I was very hungry.

After a few days later, I smelled another scent from someone else, this one was wild, but, for some reason, I liked it. I crawled toward it, wanting to investigate, this smell, and nuzzle, was also familiar to me, although it was the first time I smelt it. When the smell was very strong, I received a lick, all I did was whimper, in a happy way.

Pretty soon after, when I opened my eyes, my mum, a black and white border collie / husky put my two older sisters and me in a big box with a sign outside. I was the runt. My dad, a brown and white wolf, the one with the wild scent, stood next to her depressed, my mum almost cried. A human came and grabbed both my sisters and took them away, I barked at him once he left and almost followed, if it wasn't for my human grabbing and putting me in the box, my dad left before that.

All day I stayed in the box, human pups rarely passed by, and when they did, they smiled at me while their mother took them by the hand and left. My mum said it was because I looked like my father, but I didn't see how that could be the reason.

I grew up on our farm, chasing chickens and watching as my grandfather herded sheep. I loved watching them, and sometimes got the urge to chase them and eat them. My mother said it was an instinct and that I should ignore it, otherwise I'd get in trouble. Soon after, one of our three humans started to take me with grandpa, and train me to be near sheep. I loved this, although chasing them was something hard to ignore, I learned eventually.

One time I saw a wolf, that looked like my dad, stirring them up and chasing our sheep. It looked like fun, but then my grandfather went barking at him and the human followed, with a big stick, he pressed down a lever thingy at the wolf and out came a loud noise, I jumped. The wolf ran away, and my grandpa told me what was wrong. Many questions were answered that day..."

A wolf came up the hill and looked at the mountains, it howled for a little while, then looked at the sun, which was just rising. Crowing came from behind and the wolf looked back, and trotted down to a farm. It entered and went into a room.

Wolf: " Mum, today's the big day."

  The dog was already up.

Dog: " Yes Anene, today's the day."

Anene: " I can't wait!"

Laika: " You're really excited, aren't you?"

Anene: " Excited doesn't cover half of it!"

Laika: " First let's get some breakfast."

They both walk out of the room, and head into the kitchen, where Rex, (Anene's grandpa) Is eating, next to some other bowls which are full. Anene and Laika go to eat.

Human: " Rex, Anene, let's go!!"

Anene barks and runs off, Rex trotting after them. They get on the back of a truck, it starts, and they go off. At a wide pasture, there is a corral with lots of sheep. Anene jumps off the truck (it stopped) and runs toward them.

Anene: " Hello!"

All the sheep run towards the other side of the corral, yelling "Wolf!"

Anene: " Calm down."

Rex: " *laughs* They'll call anyone a wolf, you'll get used to it."

Anene: " They'll never get used to it, will they?"

Rex: " Nope."

The human walked over and opened the gate, he let out the sheep and whistled. Anene and rex ran towards the sheep and herded them towards the pasture. Then he whistled again and they came back.

Anene: " (thinking) Was that okay?"

Human: " That'll do, good job."

Anene: " (thinking) I knew it! I did great!"

Human: " Come."

The human walked towards a tree and took out a sandwich, he gave some to the dogs and ate his part. The border collie walked towards his grandaughter.

Rex: " You did a good job today, but we're not yet finished."

Anene: " There's more? Yes!!"

Rex chuckled, the human whistles in a high tone and the dogs get to work. They herd the sheep towards a field near the farm.

Laika: " Anene!"

Anene: " Hi mom!"

Laika: " So, how's it going?"

Anene: " Great! I love this!"

Laika: " Aren't you tired?"

Anene: " No, I'm used to this."

Laika: " Just like your father."

Human: " *whistles* Anene! Come here!"

Anene: " Oh, got to go! See you back at the house!"

She runs off. In the distance, a wolf is looking at a sheep and her lamb that strayed. He licks his lips.

Wolf: " A nice dinner."

Anene comes and leads the sheep back to the herd.

Wolf: " What's a wolf doing herding sheep instead of eating it?"

  He leaves.

Later, Anene, Rex and their human are back at the farm, tired and worn out.

Laika: " Have a good day?"

Anene: " Yes, but I'm tired."

Laika: " *smiles* Try and guess what's for supper."

Anene: " *gasp* Meat? with pieces of steak?"

Laika: " Yep!"

Anene: " Dad's missing out on so much! I can't beleive he says hunting is much better."

Laika: " Well, uh, he doesn't know what he's missing, dear."

 Anene runs into the kitchen.

Laika: " Phew!"

Anene: " Hey!"

Laika: " What's wrong?"

Anene: " They forgot the steak!"

Laika: " *sigh* I'll try and fix that."

 She trots to the kitchen.

Rex: " Laika, you don't have much of a choice."

Laika: " But we have to stay! Besides, Alaska is a whole other country."

Anene: " Grandpa, what about the sheep? Who's gonna help you?"

Rex: " I can do it on my own."

Laika: " Isn't there a way we can stay?"

Rex: " I doubt it."

Anene: " Grandpa, I don't want to move, what about dad?"

Rex: " He already knows about this, now, get some rest, you're moving tomorrow."

Anene & Laika: " WHAT!?"

Rex: " I'm sorry, but I don't decide."

Anene: " *sigh* All right, good night."

Laika: " I'll help you pack."

Rex: " Good night to both of you."

That night, Anene snuck out and headed towards her dad's cave. She trotted silently through the night. She howled into the cave.

Wolf: " Who's there? Anene?"

Anene: " Daddy, I'm moving tomorrow to another country."

Wolf: " Calm down, I know."

Anene: " Dad, I don't want to go."

Wolf: " Here, sleep with me tonight. You have to move, maybe you'll find an owner in Nome."

Anene: " It won't be the same without you."

She slept. The next day, Anene looked from the hill to see a moving truck at their barn. She ran down, only to be received by a leash and be loaded onto the truck.

Wolf: " Good bye, Anene, Laika."

  He walked off.

Kodi: " Rumor has it some farm dogs will move here, but, most of the time rumors are wrong."

Balto: " Are you sure you didn't hear wrong?"

Kodi: " It's possible, then again, Silvie and Dixie aren't the most reliable source there is."

Jenna: " Do you know when they could come?"

Kodi: " That I don't, Oh, gotta go! Bye mom! Dad!"

He runs off, a moving truck passes by.

Balto: " Hmm, maybe Kodi was right about the movers."

The truck stops at a house, two humans come out and unload a couple of dogs, the youngest struggling. Her leash accidentaly unclips and she runs off into the entrance.

Anene: " This is nothing like home."

She's lifted by one of the humans and taken back to the house.

Balto and Jenna turn around the corner and see the moving truck at a house.

Balto: " You think they have dogs?"

Jenna: " Well, so far Kodi was right about them moving. We'll find out tomorrow."

Balto nodded and both walked off. Anene was up and about around Nome, exploring her new surroundings. Right now she was sniffing an alley way.

Anene: " (narrating) Moving to a new place is hard, yet exciting. You never know what kind of adventures you'll have. In the morning, I realized that yesterday I acted like an idiot. I guess all of it happened too soon. Anyway, today, the first thing that came to mind was sniff out Nome, get used to it, guess it's a wolf instinct. My first day in town and I already get to mischeif. I met three street dogs that day.

They told me how they hated house dogs and wolfdogs. It didn't take long for them to find out I was both. They chased me deep into the alley way, when I almost got out, one of them appeared in front of me. I didn't want to fight, actually I did, but I had to wait a while before I got in trouble and could leave enough evidence for my mom to find out.

Lucky for me some wooden boxes were on my side. I jumped on them and kept going higher. When I felt safe, I found an open box and pushed it towards the edge. I struggled but made it, when the dogs were under it, I jumped on it, pushing it further into the snow and ran towards home.

Before I was there, two dogs were talking with mum, I didn't want to bother her, so I ran down the street and towards the back of my house. Once there, I looked at the fence. Home was on the other side. "all right, one" I troted towards it and jumped, but didn't even reach the half. Maybe with some speed, so I sorta troted canteres in the opposite direction, "two" I cantered towards the wall and jumped, this time I got to more than half, and was able to see the other side. Maybe more speed, so I cantered to a reasonable distance, "Three!!" I ran full speed at the wall, jumped, pulled myself up the side and landed on the other.

I made it, and was exhausted, so I walked through the doggy door, and onto my nice cozy blue bed."

Laika: " I'm half husky half border
