Karl.
“I’m not leaving,” Naga said.
“What, but the stampede?” said Miya.
“I know but what if other things come up, this is the only place I can hear and see the dream, you go I’ll come eventually,” replied Naga.
“Fine then, we’re moving that way nearer to a small town,” said Karl.
“Let the human wolf stay and die,” said Nazareth and he sneered.
“I’m a wolf Nazareth no longer a human, I have wolf blood, as do you,” Naga snarled back.
“You’ve got human blood, you’ll kill us all. My wolf blood is pure, while yours isn’t, we do not have the same blood,” Nazareth said.
“You blood may be pure but your heart isn’t,” said Naga.
“Oh and don’t worry about Miya, I’ll take care of her. When you’re finished here don’t come back for a while, when you do, you’ll see our wolf puppies,” he said and sneered and left him alone.
The next day the pack left and said their goodbyes to Naga. He was sad but happy they would be safe.
Chapter eight
Alone again, Naga had to hunt rabbits; he had no more of the dream yet.
The pack moved where they said they were going to. Miya was upset she had left Naga alone, but she knew it was his choice.
“You look upset Miya, I’ll cheer you up,” Nazareth said, he smiled at her.
“Okay then,” she said and sighed.
At the end of the day, Miya sat alone until Karl come to her.
“You’re upset about leaving Naga, he’ll be fine daughter,” he said and smiled at her.
“I know, but I wish I told him he was pure wolf instead of saying I don’t know, Nazareth seems to be helping me and yet he doesn’t,” she said.
“You’re right he is pure wolf, no matter of his past. Maybe you liked Naga more than a friend, and you feel you’re betraying him by going off with Nazareth,” he said. “I don’t mind daughter who you chose, but I feel that you should chose wisely, I don’t want to see you hurt,” he said and left her alone again.
The week past and Naga had the same dream every night, but they kept getting stronger. Then one night he had another dream.
It wasn’t the same, he saw a wolf grow up, and it was Nazareth. He saw him and then saw a bear. Naga could see the pack years ago, Nazareth attacked it; he started ripping fur and blood spewed out everywhere. The poor bear died of blood lose, a horrible way to die. Then he heard a voice.
“Terrible isn’t it?” it said.
“Yes, Nazareth seems to like killing bears,” he replied.
“He likes killing other things too, he protects the pack,” the voice said back.
“Yeah but he’s so mean to me anyway,” said Naga.
“Naga understand this, Nazareth doesn’t always protect the pack, and he feels you being there a threat to his popularity, especially since you tried to take down that bear. Nazareth tricks bears and all the animals he kills to protect the pack, because he believes that being a pure wolf allows him to kill and control all these animals lives, he must be stopped,” the voice said.
“Why? The stampede is unstoppable and… he did it, he told those animals something, didn’t he?” Naga said.
“Yes, he told them that the humans are responsible for all the recent deaths, but he did the deaths, they are not heading this way Naga, they’re heading the other way,” the voice said.
The dream came back the stampede; he saw where they were heading to. He gasped his art gallery and the town after it, his assistant standing at the door. He heard the screams of the people and his assistant, then he heard guns, the animals where being shot at, few fell. It didn’t stop them and then he could here the laugh again, he looked up to see Nazareth laughing as the humans and animals were dieing, Naga started to cry. It disappeared again.
“Run Naga, stop the stampede save their lives,” said the voice.
“Kill Nazareth,” said Naga and he snarled.
“First save them, it is better to keep life than to exterminate it,” the voice said.
Naga woke up and it was morning, he got up and ran.
“It’ll take you days but the spirits will protect you,” said the voice as Naga ran.
Chapter nine
The days past and Naga could hear the stampede starting as his dream had, but the stampede was too fast so Naga was behind.
Miya and the pack could hear the stampede; they saw it coming out of the forest, as they head from the town.
“The human wolf was wrong,” Nazareth said and he started to laugh.
“This is no laughing matter, they’re going to be killed,” Miya shouted as the stampede was very loud.
Then they saw a wolf running beside the stampeded and ran right to the town.
“Naga,” whispered Miya.
They hear people screaming, and then they heard the wolves howl, the bears roar, the birds squawk and the deer baaing.
“Get your guns, we can shot them,” shouted a human from the town. Everyone nodded and ran to get their guns.
“But not all them,” shouted Jeremy.
“Then we’ll avenge Naga,” said a woman, she was Naga’s stepmother.
“Look,” said someone.
They saw a wolf running at the side of the herd and past them, until he got to the art gallery. Jeremy looked at the wolf.
“Go away,” he shouted at it but it did not budge.
“Stop please, I understand your anger but these humans did not kill your friends and families, some might have. But it was a wolf named Nazareth he’s been killing them, so please stop,” shouted Naga of course the humans couldn’t understand him but the stampede did not budge. “They’re blinded by anger,” Naga said.
Naga walked toward the stampede, then he tried his best but he got up on his two hind legs. He felt very wobbly but he kept his balance; he then took his front paws and extended them to tell them to stop.
He remembered by legend, years ago humans and animals lived in peace. They could understand them, but the humans’ devolved weapons and evolved them; they started to destroy the animals’ homes’. The animals got angry and started to fight the humans but the animals lost, with their loose; the humans could no longer understand animals. Naga wished this not to happen again for this time there would be no survivors.
Jeremy looked at him and he remarked as the animal was standing on its hind legs. Naga growled at the stampede and then looked at Jeremy, he blinked and growled again.
“Naga is that you?” asked Jeremy as he looked at him. Naga couldn’t say but he couldn’t move either.
“What’s he doing?” asked Joshua.
“I don’t know,” whimpered Miya.
The stampede came closer and Naga closed his eyes. “I’m sorry Miya, I was wrong,” he whispered. He opened them again.
The stampede hit Naga and he was sent flying into the air. “NAGA!” screamed Miya and Jeremy. The humans looked at Jeremy and realised who it was. Nazareth started to laugh as Naga hit the ground. Naga saw the stampede slow down. “I’ve done what I had to do,” he whispered. His eyes went black as he closed them.
Naga was dead. Miya started to cry as did the humans. The stampede stopped and they looked at Naga’s dead body. They dropped their ears and heads. Naga died to save them all and to put the lives that Nazareth had killed to rest at last.
Chapter ten
Nazareth laughed, and then stopped as the stampede stopped. “Fool he died for nothing; I have more tricks up my paw.” Nazareth smiled.
“You, every attack we’ve had, those animals were only trying to protect them. The stampede didn’t murder him, you did. The humans were right killed by the thing he loved the most,” snarled Miya and pack snarled at him. “That fire that Naga’s parents perished in were your doing, that picture that Naga drew wasn’t you but your father, he’s dead now,” shouted Miya and she kept on growling.
Nazareth ran but they all stopped. The stampede moved away from Naga. He was surrounded by the spirits of the animals.
“He died for these animals and for the humans,” said the bear spirit, it was the same voice that Naga had heard in his dreams.
“There is nothing we can do,” said the deer spirit.
They turned around to see Nazareth sneering at him, the animals growled at him.
“You tricked us,” shouted a she-wolf.
Get him,” shouted a goose. The animals chased after him, then they heard Nazareth’s howl for the last time.
“There is something we can do,” said the wolf spirit. She looked at Naga. “The death of another can bring life to one of pure heart,” she said.
Then the wind picked up Naga’s body and it lifted him high. Then suddenly lights surrounded Naga. The lights died down and Naga felt himself. He got up and looked
