Pride of the Irish
Warpath loped beside his master's horse while the 2 creatures and the human enjoying the fresh air in the Ireland countryside. Warpath was very happy when he was with his master especially when hunting elk. When they returned home, the Irish Wolfhound walked toward the porch and out popped from under was a German Shepherd female named Topaz. Topaz said, "How was the run?" "It was great! Wish you could have come." Warpath answered. "Well I had to help Mr. Nicholas herd his sheep." The female said. Warpath barked then saw his owner looked full of joy. Warpath & Topaz cocked their heads and Topaz digged her muzzle in his hand. Their master knelt beside the 2 and said, "We're going to America." Warpath & Topaz wondered what was America?
As the sea lapped under the ship, Warpath looked at creatures he has never seen before. A sailor limped over to him and let Warpath sniff his hand before he patted the dog's head. The old sailor said, "Those are dolphins boy. Bet you never seen him before." Warpath barked and the dolphins squeaked at him. He perked his ears then trotted off to find Topaz and tell her what he learned today. His master came out of his room and saw the harbor and the Statue of Liberty came into view. Topaz leaned against the railing by her master. She sniffed the wind and found Warpath was coming. Warpath trotted around the corner and stood by the Shepherd. "I saw dolphins just a minute ago." "What are dolphins?" said Topaz then smiled and replied, "Look it is the Statue of Liberty!" Both dogs grinned and howled with happiness.
The ship pulled into the harbor and the plank was set down. The dogs walked right beside their master and went up to a office. A police officer said, "Sorry but the dogs can't go inside. I'll hold onto them outside." "Thank you. Be good you two." Then he walked into the office. The officer patted Topaz's back and Warpath barked. The officer checked their collars and bellowed happily, "Hello Warpath and Topaz! You two have been very good care of!" He petted them again. 3 hours later their master came out looking tired. He thanked the officer and led the 2 dogs to a hotel that allowed pets.
After days of getting used to America they got onto a train and headed to Montana. Warpath and Topaz got a load of attention from the children. Soon they reached the station and took a car out to a little town. Warpath and Topaz watched everything on their way to their new home.
They reached their town and went 3 miles out of town to their huge log cabin. He stopped the car and opened the door. Topaz and Warpath raced out and ran around the house. Their master walked into the cabin and started to unpack everything. Warpath loved it here and so did Topaz. Topaz said, "It will be great living here!" Warpath had to agree. That night while they laid by the fire place the dogs heard wolves howl, their master smiled and looked at the Irish Wolfhound. There would be hunting this season.
The next morning the master and his dogs walked around in the wilderness. Warpath sniffed the wind and saw a bull moose. His master said, "Better not mess with them. They looked clumsy but are pretty fast." They reached an open abandoned field. Topaz spotted a rabbit and barked. Warpath said, "I know that bark it's a rabbit. I'm going in!" With that he streaked after the rabbit and in minutes he came back with the rabbit in his mouth. The master smiled and went home to skin it.

Summer went into fall and fall into winter. A shot rang through the air as a caribou fell to the ground. Warpath and Topaz breaths were clouds of fog in front of their mouths. Their master strapped on their harnesses and hooked chains around the caribou and the 2 dragged their hunt back to the cabin. When they reached their home, snow started to fall. Their master started to skin the caribou then started to cut the meat in chucks and placed them into a stew. Warpath felt at home but what he didn't know was misfortune waiting around the corner.

The next week the snow was a foot and a half high. The trio went walking again. Up on a ridge far above them stood a black wolf that wanted every human who came in his land dead. He sniffed the air and looked down at the human and his dogs. He snarled and his pack howled with hatred. Warpath & Topaz looked at the ridge and saw a black figure slink away. Warpath growled and his master knew the hunting blood was rising in his Irish Wolfhound. Jacob smiled.
The next day they went on into town. They stopped by Dulley's Bar after doing errands. A barrel chest man came over and asked, "You are the one that lives up in that cabin right?" "Yes I am. Jacob Mcdann is my name." "I'm Huey. I like your dogs. My blue tick hound over there his name is Tucker." "Well this here is my German Shepherd, Topaz. And that one is a Irish Wolfhound named Warpath." Huey patted Topaz and Warpath stood on his hind legs and put his paws on Huey's shoulder. "Whoa! This isn't a dog it's a horse!" Jacob laughed as Huey tried to keep his balance. Warpath put his paws down and went to go say hi with Topaz to Tucker. Huey asked, "Have you seen a black wolf?" Jacob answered, "Yes I did up on a ridge though." "You better watch it. That is Satan. He is a killer. He kills every man and dog he sees. One minute he is in front of you the next you see his jaws. He is like the devil's dog and you can see the devils dance in his steel gray eyes!" Huey replied dramatically. Jacob knew he should watch out for Satan.

Years have passed and Jacob has traded quite a few skins. Warpath and Topaz were always on their guard when going through the woods. They knew Satan's eyes were always on them. One day, Jacob and Topaz went into the woods to check the traps. After checking the traps, they were empty everytime they checked. They started home when they heard a snarl. Jacob looked behind him and saw the black wolf. He was a beauty! Fur as black as night and smooth as satin. His eyes were a steel gray that looked they could pierce anything. Topaz growled & stood in front of Jacob. In a second Topaz & Satan locked in combat. Topaz said, "Go bother someone else." Satan laughed, "You wished! You are in my land and I should let you die!" Jacob watched frozen with fear for Topaz. He heard a yelp of pain and saw Topaz fall to the ground. The wolf backed off and waited for the human to move. Jacob crawled to Topaz and cried on her neck. Her leg was bleeding badly and Jacob was about to pick her up when fangs sunk into his neck and all he saw was black.
Warpath paced back and forth. He knew something was wrong. Huey looked up from making his, Tucker, and Warpath's dinner. He went to Warpath and patted the worried dog's head. "He'll be back Warpath." They heard a howl and Tucker answered. Huey opened the door and Topaz stumbled in. Her blood was frozen to her and she was weak from the traveling. Her knees buckled under her and she fell to the ground. Warpath rushed over. "What happened Topaz?" Tucker asked. "Satan....he attacked....Jacob is dead. I tried my best but he is a wolf." Topaz said before Huey picked her up and placed her on the couch. Warpath growled and said to Tucker, "Huey can have all the things here. Just leave the food. Topaz and I will probably need it for the first week." Tucker nodded. He knew what Warpath was thinking.

Topaz had healed fully and Huey now had Jacob's things. Warpath and Topaz headed outside to find Satan. Huey knew the dogs would never be at peace until Satan was dead. The 2 dogs paced for miles until they felt hunger pains. For hours they went on trying to catch food but the prey had more shelter to run to. "Let's try to take a moose or a caribou." Topaz suggested. "Let's try then. It might work." They raced until they smelled caribou. Warpath sneaked around in front and Topaz crawled forward. The caribou male grazed on the summer grass. It was weak one so it would be much easier to bring down. Topaz launched herself and landed on his back. The caribou reared and charged right into Warpath. He leaped and grabbed a hold of the caribou's neck. Topaz bit into his shoulder and then Warpath pushed himself onto the caribou. The caribou screeched with pain then fell into the earth below. Warpath and Topaz howled with pride and dug in.
Miles away Satan heard a howl and knew it was dogs. He grinned then nuzzled his mate, IcePaw. Warpath and Topaz buried the rest of the food and went to go find a den. "When do you think we should attack?" Topaz asked. "We will attack in the fall or early winter. But we should only ask him to fight. You know why?" Warpath said. "Because if his whole pack attacks we're dead." Topaz answered. Warpath smiled and the two moved into a trot. Later they found a perfect den. Topaz and Warpath laid next to each other. The next day the two went to go explore the land of Satan.

It was an excellent summer and fall to Warpath and Topaz. They had mapped out Satan's land and picked out the perfect place to fight. It was a canyon called Dragon's Claw. Warpath and Topaz had been working on battling smarts. One day the 2 walked across a meadow when the Topaz scented the wolf pack downwind from them. "We got company and it doesn't smell friendly."
