licking a face of a dead brown wolf. The wolf had deep gash in his neck. Balto stopped when he heard the cub speak.
“Dad.” The cub used his paws to shake his head; the pup had tears steaming down his face, “Dad…come on…you have to help mom.” The pup tried biting the wolfs ear, “Dad please!” the pup slipped off his ear, “Your cold like mom we need to the den.” The pup then used his paws to move his fathers, “Dad you need to help mom!”
Balto finely intervened, “Where’s your mom?” the pup turned he was taking deep breaths.
The pup whimpered he cried out the answer, “Over there.” He pointed with his ears to female wolf five feet away, “They won’t wake up.”
Balto tear on his face, “I’m so sorry, they won’t be waking up.” The pup looked up at Balto, he didn’t want to hear what he heard, the pup sobbed on Balto’s leg, he heard the little pup cry “why.” But stopped knowing the answer.
“Lets take you home.” Balto tried to comfort the small pup, but Balto knew you could never comfort anyone who lost something dear to them, “Can you show me where you live?” Balto asked.
The pup stopped his sobbing best he could he nodded his head, Balto wanted to know more, “Do have friend or family that can take you when you get back?”
“Yeah, I could stay with old Arcux as my dad and mom would.” The pup started to cry again unable to finish his sentence. Balto felt very sorry for the small pup he lost his parents but never saw them, till he met his mother again.
Balto lead the pup to main den, where he saw Arcux and other leaders discussing something, “You stay here, k little wolf.”
Balto went up to the talking alphas he noticed something odd, wait, Arcux, Procyon, Cygnus where’s Atria?! Balto heard them continue, “We will have to announce it tonight.” Arcux answered.
Procyon growled, “I can believe this.”
Cygnus sighed, “It’s my fault.”
Procyon took a long breath, “look it isn’t your fault, the thing is you tried, Blood Wraith is fighter of my strength, at the lest.” Cygnus hung his head, “You did your best don’t be ashamed at your loss.”
“I could have ended it if I was stronger.” Cygnus depressingly admitted.
Balto finely spoke, “Where’s Atria?” the Arcux was startled.
Procyon grunted, “They managed to capture her.”
Balto shook his head “How? How is that?”
Arcux answered for him, “Usually wolves can get wolves out of war if they get there alpha, but Atria has the most allies so if she goes, a lot go with her, so we must say no to freedom.” Arcux grunted as his hit the snow with his paw, he swore under his breath.
“So she is die. Basically.” Balto murmured.
Cygnus nodded his head, “Yes she is to die.”
“At the meeting I’ll have to ask for help with collecting the dead.” Procyon softly spoke.
Arcux raised his voice, “No you need all your strength! You will rest.”
“What’s the deal?” Balto asked.
Arcux turned away, “I’ll tell at the meeting calling now.”
Arcux howled for the alphas to gather. It took about hour but everyone arrived, a few did not. Balto saw Hamal, Hamal shot Balto a glare. Procyon had a young wolf whisper something to his ear.
“Well today, we had a great victory…” Procyon started, but the alphas howled in rejoice.
A lean wolf stood, “I could do this every day! The spirits are with us.” the other nodded in agreement.
Arcux stood up, “I don’t think so, today I fought a wolf that destroyed the spirit’s crystal the wolf didn’t die nor could I slay the wolf. In fact he killed thirty two wolves by himself this is Altai, the spirits won’t help us.”
Aquarius stood for silence, “But at a cost. A huge cost it was.”
“We have lost of our three hundred on field one hundred and seven lost their lives today. Eighty seven had mates, seventy eight had pups.” Procyon spoke to everyone, “With we have lost Atria one our best.”
There was a long silence after that; Procyon finely spoke again, “We need some help with collecting the dead, and burying them.”
Odyssey smiled as he stood, “We have won a victory, with our own damage, but we can win this, we cut the forces down, we’re doing great.” Odyssey sighed as he left.
Balto went to Arcux, “Arcux…this little guy over there.” Balto pointed with his paw. “He calms he can stay with you.”
Arcux nodded, “Yes I know that rascal, and his parents there gone now aren’t they. They always wanted to…” Arcux stopped himself, “I’ll take him don’t worry.” Balto nodded.
Balto went over to Procyon, “Procyon, I’m sorry, but there has to be a way.”
Procyon had tear fall down his face, “There’s nothing, unless we give in and let him take control, I can’t do that. She is gone.”
Balto shook his head, “There has to be another way.”
Procyon just looked at Balto, “She gone Balto I should complain many lose their mates today.” Procyon left after that not saying a word.
Balto couldn’t take it; he looked to where the battlefield took place. I’ve done this before. Jenna I love you but I know I can get her back! Balto now went for the battlefield. He paused and tried to remember best he could of Atria; he only had a side sniff when he walked past her.
Balto thought for a moment, I should first track the army that left, if I find she’s bond to be there she’ll be the only sent I know so I won’t have to look hard.
Balto followed the huge wolf army sent easily and after about a hour walk he found camped out. Balto crouched I have to keep my distance I’m the only new sent to them I have to be quick. Balto closed his eyes as he smelt the air, he could barely make out Atria’s sent, she was the only very slim sent he required to find her.
Not far from the camp a grayish wolf six-month-old pup walks to army, growling, as he gets closer.
Balto went to the far right of the camping wolves till he found her. Holy crap! Atria was heavily guarded more than what Balto thought and she was against the wall. It’s like the only way it to beat though them. I have find another way.
Astro walked along on the outskirts of the camping army, he turned he couldn’t believe his eyes Balto? The idiot wants to die. “Times up half-breed.” Astro was about to howl.
Corbett and Tokala with Cu’can had a meeting. “Maybe we should run.” Corbett recommended.
“And given in like dogs!” Tokala yelled out.
“He has a point, the forces are now two to one instead of three to one, in two hours, and we took a huge beating today.” Cu’can pointed out.
“We need to have Blood Shadow, and Altair fighting with us all times, the wolves moral is weaker than rabbits.”
“Their only two wolves.” Tokala scoffed.
Corbett spoke angrily, “Procyon is a wolf, and a Half-breed our one and half and look what they did to us today, they killed our biggest wolf with not a scratch all we have is Procyon’s mate. It does nothing he’ll have her die then give in to anything!”
“I’ll talk to them.” Corbett announced.
“No you need to unleash them.” Cu’can said aloud, “If we get to a position were Leaf is slain he’ll kill every wolf him self.”
Tokala smiled, “I see I’ll have Leaf come to a meeting with a few alphas by then, I predict Aquarius will attack us, and that’s when Procyon will do his best then, a challenge from Altair in single combat, Procyon will fall and we will take them out easily with him gone, that’s what their strength hangs by.” Cu’can nodded. Orion over heard the conversation oh no.
Balto inched close to where Atria was being kept, he needed some distraction. Aw screw it, use your self! Balto noticed he was above Atria on the wall she was on. Hope this works. Balto gave a loud howl. He noticed that the wolves immediately went up the hill he was on. Here we go play with fire.
Balto carefully went down the wall but tripped on the last to five feet. Real smooth! Balto staggered to his feet. He saw the wide-eyed expression of Atria, and the wolves guarding her. “Don’t mind if I take do you?”
Balto didn’t let the wolves howl, yet he instantly used his paw to hit snow to their eyes, Balto shouted at Atria, “Come on lets go!” Balto darted away, he made sure Atria followed him. She didn’t how or why yet.
Balto heard the howling of the wolves a few seconds after they made a run for it. That’s great “Just follow me I can lead you home.” Balto reassured Atria as they ran the fastest they ever went. Balto looked behind him to see some wolves chasing them.
Atria yelled her words out, “We must go
