struggle I will kill both your pups and take Saba, if she is lucky enough to live. But how can I not be a sucker for such a beautiful face.” Jake continued.

Jauquin looked at the pups, they where so young and had plenty of life ahead. He looked at Saba her face was worried and she was a mother, everyone deserved they’re mother and children. He couldn’t kill them.

“Ok.” Jauquin said quietly. He heard Saba scream “no”

“Great!” Jake laughed he called in one of his other buds to kill me. He was a wolf much more powerful than a husky; Jauquin wouldn’t live even if he did have a chance. Jauquin lay on the grown and hopped for the worst.

“Wait!” Jake called “I feel like a poor sport. Instead of killing you I’ll cut you a deal.”

“Hey!” A female voice called out. Everyone turned their head to the boiler room door.

“Let our team mate and his family go!” The same voice cried. It was Dusty, Kirby, Kodi, Ralph and one of the other teem mates, Kelpie.

Jake growled at them and pulled the pups close to him like they where his own.

“Let go of us.” On of the pup complained.

“Shut up!” Jake scolded. “Get them!” He ordered the wolf and his friend. They ran after Jauquin’s team mates, Jake took the pups and ran for another way out. Saba ran after him but was stopped but Jauquin.

“No Saba.” He said

“But my pup-”

“I know, I’ll take care of it Jake and I have a score to settle. Just go help my team mates.”

“But-”

“Saba…please.” Saba nuzzled Jauquin and ran to help the others. Jauquin ran after Jake and bit his tail. Jake being startled cried out. He dropped the pups and Jauquin pulled him back. Jauquin looked at his pups and ran towards them but Jake bit his tail and pulled him back. Jauquin looked up and saw Jake looking down at him. Jauquin got up but Jake slammed his paw down on his tail forcing him to sit. Jauquin bit Jakes forearm, He cried out. Another one of Jakes friends came out from a corner and bit Jauquin’s back. I was a surprise attack. Jake but Jauquin’s neck while it was exposed. He bit Jakes ear and pulled as hard as he could. Jake let go and pulled away. Instead of letting go Jauquin ripped half of Jake’s ear off and tumbled back.

He couldn’t believe it just about the same thing happened in his dream. Jake’s friend stood over him snarling.

CHAPTER 9

Just before the dog ripped his esophagus out Saba jumped on him and bit the back of his neck. She bit down so hard and stood there for so long shaking her head rapidly that the dog eventually dropped dead.

Jauquin looked over and saw Jake running off with the pups again. He talked Jake and bit down on his thought then pulled up as fast as he could. Blood splattered all over. Saba picked up one of the pups and Jauquin took the other. They both ran to the wild to get away for a while.

The came to the train track and the train was coming. Jauquin hurried to the other side with the pup and set it down. He called Saba and the other pup over. Half of her body was over the first part of the track and the train was coming fast.

“Hurry!” Jauquin cried sadly. He knew she wouldn’t make it. Saba swung the pup over the tracks and Jauquin caught it in his jaws. He set the pup down and when he looked up he hopped that Saba would be across the track. But she wasn’t.

“Saba!” Jauquin cried he name so loud that he could feel his lungs about to burst.

When the train passed he told the pups to stay there and he ran over to Saba’s body.

“Saba?” he was crying by this point. She was covered in blood and was bent in a bad position.

“Saba you told me to never give up. So you do the same. Please Saba!” Jauquin was so upset that he didn’t care on how foolish he sounded. “Come on Saba, you’re a mother now. This is what we wanted. Don’t give up on me now.” He rested his head on he back and cried he knew that she didn’t suffer which was a good thing.

That night he and the pups buried her in the most beautiful spot in the forest.

5 weeks later

“Where are we going papa?” Asked Bruno, Bruno and Sitka where Jauquin’s and Saba’s pups.

“To a very special spot.” Jauquin said while leading his pups the ledge where He and Saba had the most romantic together. “Well here we are.” He said. Both of his pups sat next to him.

“A ledge?” Sitka asked.

“Not just a ledge but a place where you can see the beach along with the sunset. And if you come here on winter night you can see the auroras.” Jauquin said.

“It’s also the place were your mother and I had a romantic night.” He added. The pups added and “eww” to that. Jauquin laughed at their comment.

“You understand someday. Hey kids can you a promise me this one thing?”

“Sure dad what?” Sitka asked

“Will you promise me to never give up no matter what?”

“We promise.” They both said. Jauquin smiled and looked to the sky. In the sunset he saw an apparition of Saba smiling down at him and the pups in the sky. Jauquin smiled back and whispered “I love you.” A tear rolled down his cheek.

“Who are you talking to?” Bruno asked.

“Your mother.” Jauquin replied.

“Mom?” Jauquin nodded.

“C’mon lets go.” He said

“Ok.” The pups said and they began walking away. But before Jauquin left he looked up to the sky and said

“If you need me I won’t be far away.”
