Jauquin is MINE

Jauquin is MINE! He was based off of one of Balto’s pups but he is NOT related to Balto and Jenna in anyway!!!

One’s Luck is Another One’s Death

The U.S. mail team of Nome, Alaska arrives to town. The dogs are pumped from delivering the mail.

“How yah doing back there rookie?” Kirby asked

“Eh, I’m hangin in there.” Jauquin panted. Jauquin was the newest member on the team and was not used to running so much. Kirby and the others laughed.

“Hey take it easy on him guys.” Dusty scolded

“It’s ok Dusty.” Jauquin started.

“You know you like him.” Kodi said

“No, no I don’t. Ralph is my mate.” Dusty said proudly. Ralph smiled.

The dogs got off their harnesses and began walking around. Jauquin and Kodi were walking around with each other.

“Hi Jauquin. You looked good in you harness” Two female dogs flirted. Jauquin smirked

“I don’t get it. What’s up with you and all the girls?” Kodi asked

“I don’t know.” Jauquin shrugged.

“Well where’s your mate?” Kodi joked.

“I walk alone.” Jauquin snickered. He looked forward and saw the most beautiful girl in all of Alaska. Kodi’s sister Saba, he stopped in his tracks. She was talking to one of her friends.

“Who are you looking at?” Kodi asked looking ahead. Kodi turned back and faced Jauquin with a smile on his face.

“You like my sister don’t you?” He asked while smirking.

Jauquin nodded.

“Well call her over then. Hey Saba!” Kodi said Saba looked over and began walking towards Kodi and Jauquin.

“What!” Jauquin exclaimed. He looked over and saw that Saba was almost to them.

“Hey.” She greeted them.

“I’ll leave you two to get acquainted.” Kodi said and walked off.

“Uh…Hi I’m Jauquin; I’m from Anchorage and now here on the U.S. mail team.”

“I’m Saba, Kodi’s sister and daughter of Balto and Jenna.” She replied happily.

“Uh, Balto?” Jauquin asked

“Yes. Why?”

“No reason” Jauquin gulped. “Hey, uh… do you want to go to the boiler room and talk?”

“Saba!” One of Saba’s friends, Whitney called. She ran up to us. “Hey Saba didn’t you hear me calling, Jake wants to talk to you. I think he likes you.”

“I-” Saba was interrupted

“Come on.” He fried urged.

“I’m sorry Jauquin.” Saba said. Her friend started pushing her with her head over to Jake. Jauquin didn’t say anything he just hung his head. He saw Saba’s friend turn her head and wink at him. Jauquin began walking away.

“Hey Jauquin I’m sorry.” Kodi said. Jauquin didn’t reply he just walked away with his head hung low and his eyes shut.

CHAPTER 2

Kodi and Kirby found Jauquin laying down in the boiler room. His eyes where half- closed and his breathing was slow. You could tell he was relaxed.

“Jauquin?” Kodi asked

No answer…

“Hey rookie” Kirby said. They were standing in front of Jauquin “Why are you here?”

Jauquin raised his head.

“I live here.” He said. “I’ve been here since I came here from Anchorage.”

“Oh.” Kirby said

“If you guys don’t mind I would like to be left alone.” Jauquin said.

“Ok.” Kodi said “Come on Kirby” he said and they both walked out. Saba and Jake walked in talking. They hardly noticed Jauquin.

Saba looked angry and Jake looked companionate. Jauquin watched them as he tried hiding.

“You shouldn’t have done that.” Saba said.

“C’mon we were just playing.” Jake said

“You had no right-” Before she could finish she was hit across the face by Jake. She tumbled on the boiler room floor. This enraged Jauquin. He ran out of hiding.

“Leave her alone!” he shouted at Jake. Jake looked over at him with an angry expression.

“You know this b- Fool?!” Jake snarled while walking over to Saba. Jauquin leaped at Jake and stated biting him.

“Jauquin!” Saba exclaimed. She got up and bit his back to pull him off of Jake. Jake got up he had a shocked expression on his face. Saba walked over to Jake but he snarled at her and she backed away.

Jauquin and Saba both left to give Jake some time to pull himself together.

“He doesn’t mean it when he does things like that.” Saba said.

“He still shouldn’t be hitting you.”

“I learn to deal with it.”

“He’s hit you before?!” Jauquin exclaimed. Saba didn’t pay attention to him instead she changed the subject. She turned hear head towards the beach and said

“Wow look at that beautiful sunset.” Jauquin turned his head towards the beach then back at Saba

“Yah, Beautiful.” He said.

Saba smiled and looked away. Then looked back and licked his cheek and ran to the beach.

CHAPTER 3

They ran on the beach together and played around. Saba tackled Jauquin and Jauquin found himself standing over Saba. He looked at her and she looked at him. A smile grew on her face. She raised her head and whispered in his ear.

“I love you.” She whispered. She laughed and ran out from underneath him. Jauquin laughed and followed her.

After a while Saba and Jauquin sat on a ledge and watched the sunset together. Saba rested her head on Jauquin’s shoulder.

“Jauquin?” she said

“Yes?”

“Promise me that no matter what that you will never give up.”

“I promise.”

“Saba!” A voice called her name. They looked back shocked; it was Balto, Saba’s father.

“Where have you been?” Balto asked while nuzzling her. “And who are you are you with?” He looked at Jauquin. Balto’s teeth started to show.

“You’re with a killer!” Balto snarled. He crept slowly towards Jauquin; forcing him to back up close to the edge of the steep ledge.

“Go Saba.” Balto snarled.

“No d-”

“Go!” Balto snarled angrily. Saba ran to Balto’s boat she stopped and looked back at Jauquin. A tear rolled down from her eye and onto her muzzle. As much as it pained her to leave she didn’t want to go against her father’s whishes.

“You murderer.” Balto snarled Jauquin looked behind himself and saw how far down the ground was.

“I’m sorry!” He shouted. Balto didn’t listen he just kept walking toward Jauquin.

“I never meant to kill your son Dingo.” Jauquin said

“You can not be forgiven.” Balto snapped at Jauquin and he slipped. Holding on with his two front paws for dear life he pleaded with Balto for mercy. He looked into Balto’s eyes and flashed back to when Dingo was killed.

They were messing around by a train track Jauquin pushed Dingo with his paw and he stumbled and fell onto the track and twisted his leg. Jauquin tried to help him but a train was coming. It ran him over and hardly missed Jauquin. Sadly Balto witnessed it.

He felt a sharp pain on his paw which made him snap back to the present. Balto’s paws were on his. His teeth beard angrily.

“I’ve been waiting a long time for this.” Balto said He pushed Jauquin off the cliff. He cried out as he fell.

Balto didn’t hesitate to watch. He realized about the sin he committed. He stepped back shocked at what he had done. All from the anger of losing his son. Balto turned and ran away to his boat.

“Dad where’s Jauquin?” Saba asked.

Balto hesitated. “Now before you become upset remember he killed your brother…” He started.

“You hurt him didn’t you?!” Saba exclaimed.

“He was a not a good person.” Balto argued.

“You know what Dad?! He’s not; he actually stood up for me when I was hit but another male dog.” Saba said “Think about it dad who’s the real bad guy here? You or him?!”

Balto lowered his head. Saba began running out of the boat.

“Where are you going?!” Balto demanded

“I’m going to find Jauquin.” Saba replied and left without another word.

CHAPTER 4

“Jauquin!” Saba called she ran over to where she last saw him and looked around. She found scratch marks by the ledge. Her heart sank. She walked over to the ledge and peered over. She saw a body lying motionless on the ground.

“Jauquin!” She shouted.

She found a way down and ran to him. When she got to his body she noticed a few cuts and blood.

“Oh, Jauquin.” Saba lay down beside him and rested her head on his back. She cried, hoped and prayed that he would be alright. That night she spent with him and that entire next day she never left his side.

“Your gonna be ok.” She whispered in his ear. She feared for his death and often talked to him about their memories, her family, how she would never leave his side, how much she loved him. And a lot more. Even though she knew he wouldn’t reply.

Three days had passed and Jauquin had not woken up. Saba was hungry and thirsty but never whined about it. Instead she sang to him. She remembered Jauquin telling her that she had a beautiful voice.

That day of that very hour Jauquin’s heart started beating. He started breathing. Saba perked her head.

“Jauquin?” she asked happily. She was so happy that
