to close or he could lose his life. He aimed for the wolf but he could hit Toya. He had to risk it, he pulled the trigger. BANG! Jack watched to see who got hit.
The fighting stopped and Toya backed away. The bullet hit the wolf. Causing wounds on his chest.
The wolf started to shake and his pupils went small as he coughed up blood. But he would not fall to the ground he was too proud. Instead he made a run. And sprinted down the beach.
“Get him girl!” Jack said as he and Toya raced after the wolf.
The wolf ran for miles without stopping until he thought he lost them and collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily.
The heavens opened up and snow fell from the pink sky. “He won’t have gone too far” Said Jack as he walked on with Toya by his side.
The wolf just lay there hoping he would survive. But there’s no point in hope if it doesn’t come your way. The wolf stood up and shook the snow of his coat, and limped away leaving a patch of blood stained snow were he lay.
The wolf was tired, alone, hungry and in pain.
The next morning the ground was covered in a white blanket of snow. Jack was up early looking for the wolf but snow covered the wolf’s tracks and scent and Toya was tired and confused. Jack never wanted to kill an animal so much until today he really wanted that wolf dead.
Jack walked on through the thick snow and Toya slowly trotted behind him panting.
Until they walked and came to the farm. Toya had smelled the tracks here from when the wolf came here a couple of days ago.
Toya started to bark. “in here girl?” Jack asked in excitement. But Toya kept on barking franticly, Jack frowned then jumped over the fence and knocked on the farmer’s door.
The farmer opened the door and peered out “yes?” he asked.
“Hello erm… I was wondering if you saw my wolf” said Jack.
“a wolf came a couple of days ago! He stole my chickens and jumped on me then he killed poor Tess!” Shouted the farmer his face going red with anger again.
“oh I’m sorry… when did he come?” asked Jack.
“why do you care so much?” said the farmer
“Heh I’m a hunter it’s m’ job” said the hunter with a smirk.
The farmer told him everything then Jack left with a grunt. “he saw the wolf before we did so he could be anywhere” Jack said to Toya as they left the farm.
The wolf wandered in a near by village not knowing where he was going he walked on. The bar maid rushed out of the black horse pub and sat outside.
The wolf limped over to her and collapsed at her feet.
“oh my god…” she said as she saw the wolf’s big grey head resting on her legs.
“Charlie, Charlie come quick!” she called.
A tall man came running out the bar and skidded to a halt at the sight of the wolf.
His eyes widened and he stroked his mush-tash.
“we better get this fellow inside” he said quickly looking around.
When they got to their house they placed the wolf in their barn and knelt down beside him.
“you’re in a bad state boy” she said.
The bar maid’s name is Ann, she and her husband Charlie both love animals, Charlie is a veterinary and he works in the local animal care centre. Ann works in the black horse pub.
Ann tucked her brown curly hair behind her ears and stared at the wolf, stroking his smooth head.
“We better leave him here over night” whispered Charlie as he left a bowl of milk for the wolf.
He knelt beside the wolf and scanned him with his eyes and touched the wolf’s stomach. “Well he’s a healthy young male.” He declared
Ann dabbed his wounds with a warm wet cloth.
“he’s got some bad wounds there” Ann said as she looked at the wounds in his chest and front leg.
“we better let him rest” whispered Charlie.
Ann nodded and followed Charlie out the barn.
Jack and Toya decided to go home and look for the wolf tomorrow. “We’ll find him” Jack said as he walked home with Toya at his heals.
The next morning, Ann came to check on the wolf, she pulled open the barn door and peered inside. Lying in the hay is the wolf asleep. Ann smiled he made it through the night! She thought to herself the wolf lifted up his head and looked at her.
“hmm I’m gonna call you… Kenya!” she said in a smile as she watched the wolf fall asleep again. She then looked at his milk bowl Kenya had drank some. “don’t worry you’ll recover” she whispered and closed the barn door.
Ann rushed to the black horse pub to do her morning jobs and went in, not many people were there just the odd 4.
“hello boys” Ann said as she came in cheerfully.
“hi Ann” somebody said from the shadows.
“Ho-how did you know my name?”
“I know many things about you Ann” whispered the voice again.
Jack came out the shadows and smirked.
“Jack?” sighed Ann “you scared me there”
Jack chuckled
“So what can I get you?” she said.
“A wolf” Jack said suddenly
Ann pretended she never heard him and she hurried away.
Jack watched her and laughed to himself. I’m watching you Ann, Jack thought to himself and walked out the bar.
Ann walked out the bar and ran home to the barn, she opened the door franticly to find Kenya lying in the hay still, and Ann sighed in relief.
Kenya looked at her and stood up “aaaw have I startled you boy?” Ann said and smiled. Kenya grunted and lay down in the hay again. Ann giggled and slowly closed the barn door. “Ann.” Said a voice behind her. “What do you want!?” she shouted and turned around quickly to see Charlie “oh Charlie I didn’t know it was you” Ann said sheepishly Charlie stroked his mush-tash “hmm you ok?” he asked.
“Yeah yeah I’m fine... No problem” Ann said nodding her head. “Ok…” said Charlie a bit puzzled. Ann nodded him a goodbye and walked away.
Charlie opened the barn door and put down some meat for Kenya “Eat up boy” he said.
A few days passed and Kenya was getting healthier and stronger.
Ann opened the barn door and was pounced on by Kenya “Hello boy!” she said and laughed as Kenya licked her face.
She put a black collar around Kenya’s neck and tied him to a leash “walk time” she said and took him out the barn. Ann walked down the street with Kenya padding beside her.
Ann was no more afraid of Jack nobody has heard or seen him in ages or his dog.
It was getting late and Ann and Kenya walked home she took the leash of Kenya and he whined “what is it ken?” asked Ann.
Kenya lay down whining then looked at the field surrounding the barn. “Oh ken you don’t like being cooped up in this barn all day do you?” she sat beside him and rapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. Kenya wagged his tail slowly. She let him go and stood up. “You can go” she said with a sigh Kenya stood up and licked her hand then padded down the street. “Bye ken!” Ann shouted and wiped a tear from her eye. Kenya looked back at her then took a sharp right and ran off to the meadow.
He walked through the meadow at a quick pace and sniffed around the fields. He past the farm and hurries past it. Until he gets to a big field with corn growing everywhere.
He sneezes as he pushes past the corn and he comes to a lake over flowed by willow trees he sits under a willow tree and dips his tail in the lake. He whines and lays down.
The place were he’s at is called the stadium this is where he was born.
He was born into a loving family and pack by this river. But they all got murdered by man and Kenya is the last British wolf in England! Lonely and upsetting life being the last of his kind.
Kenya was asleep of his journey to the stadium. He perked up his ears and looked up by a noise. He heard leaves and twigs moving. The wind whistled through the willows Kenya jumped up and sniffed around… BANG! A bullet just missed his ear “darn!” Jack ran out of the bush and reloaded his gun with Toya snarling by his side
Kenya stared at them both stunned, before he realised he has to run away and he darted off running as fast as he can hearing the sound of Toya’s barking and Jacks shouting behind him. “Get him girl!” Jack shouted.
Kenya ran and skidded to a halt as the tips of his paws was on the edge of a waterfall.
He started to panic as his fear of falling takes over him.
He turned around and saw Jack close behind him. “Ha ha we got him now!” said Jack with excitement.
There is not much Kenya can do except choose his own fait. Come over his fear and jump and die, or give up his pride and get killed by Jack.
He closed his eyes and thought deep and hard before he opened his eyes and jumped.
Jack just missed Kenya and watched him fall. “No!” shouted Jack “my prize is gone!” he continued.
Kenya disappeared into the foggy mist below the fall.
Kenya lay washed up at land. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around. He was breathing heavily and couldn’t stand up.
He tried to stand up but he collapsed to the ground again. His blood was flowing out of his back leg and staining the shallow water around him. He must have hit a rock on the way down. He looked up at the top of the waterfall, quite a drop for a young wolf.
But where should he go from here? He doesn’t know. He stands up shaking being careful he doesn’t collapse
