Kodi watched as Mr. Simpson strapped him up to the sled. Excitement rushed through him. Kirby looked over at him. " Calm down we're just goin get the mail" he said watching the anticipated pup.

" I know" Kodi said " but maybe something different will happen today" he said excited. " Like a grizzly will attack us and we'll have to save the mail from his powerful claws" kodi stopped, feeling eyes on him.

Kirby laughed and soon the others joined.

" Oh Wow", Kirby said wiping his eyes. " You know something like that will never happen" he started. " It's the mail, It's not like we're delivering medicine to save the town like your old man" he began to laugh again.

Kodi put his head down, his excitement had drained out of him and dissapointment took it's place. Soon there musher got on the sled.

" Mush!" the excitement flooded back into kodi again and he bolted forward. They ran until the town of Nome was a small dot behind them. They soon reached White Mountain and made there way back to Nome.

" Will you guys slow down?" Ralph yelled breathing hard. Kodi rolled his eyes at the overweight dog and even pulled a little faster then before. The snow was thick and it was harder to make there way through the snow. When they made it back to Nome the sun was fully up. Mr. Simpson went inside to deliver the mail then came back to unstrap the dogs. Kodi walked solemnly to Balto's boat.

"Dad", kodi yelled. Balto got up and stretched then saw his son.

" Hi Kodi," he said still yawning "What's up?" he asked him.

" Dad, do you think I'm to enthusiastic about my job?" kodi asked. " Of Coarse not son, you're great at what you do" Balto replied.

Kodi sighed. " That's what all the other dogs think" laying his ear's on his head. " Don't listen to them It just shows you care a little more" Balto said reassuring his son.

Kodi grinned. " Thanks dad" he said walking off the boat. " Anytime son" Balto replied watching him go.

That evening Kodi met up with his friends, "Hey guys"

They turned to look at him. " Hi Kodi," they said at the same time. Dusty bounded over to Kodi. " I heard we're going on a whole new route tomorrow" she said excitement. Kodi turned his head " Where?" he asked.

"Eagle Pass" Ralph replied. " A whole nother adventure" Kirby said.

Kodi's eyes widened. "Eagle Pass! but noones been there for months" It could be dangerous" kodi said nervously. Thinking of the cliffs that would suddenly drop off. " Oh come on, they wouldn't let us go if it was that dangerous" Dusty said. " Besides It's not your call, We're leaving tomorrow morning whether you like it or not" Kirby said firmly.

Kodi ran back to Balto's boat but found he wasn't there. He rushed back into town and found his parents by the general store talking to Mel and Dipsy. " Mom! Dad!" Kodi yelled getting there attention. They walked over to Kodi.

"What's wrong Kodi?" Jenna asked.

" I heard we're going to Eagle pass tomorrow, and I don't think it's safe" he told them quickly.

" hmmm......I don't think anyone has been there for a while" Balto said thinking.

" Why are they making you go to a place so dangerous?" Jenna asked worried.

" I don't know" Kodi replied " but we don't have a chose" he said worried as well.

" Son, I don't know what to tell you" Balto told him, " All I can say is be careful" he said.

"Yeah, I will" Kodi said turning back.

" Oh Balto, Why do they have to go?" Jenna asked turning to him.

" Ummmm....... I can help" Dipsy said. They went under the general store and listened.

" Mr Connor, Are you sure we have to go there?" It's so dangerous right now, even going to White Mountain we must watch for falling branches from the snow weighing them down" he said trying to talk him out of it.

"I know Mr. Simpson but we need to get this bag of mail to them as quickly as possible, It's important information from the government" he said destperately. Mr. Connor sighed. " ok we'll leave in the morning"

The next morning the dogs were already strapped to the sled and ready to go. " Be Careful out there" Jenna said nuzzling her son.

" I will mom" he said nuzzling her back.

" You'll do great out there son, Don't worry about a thing" Balto told him.

" I won't dad" Kodi smiled.

" This is going to be so exciting" Dusty said jumping up and down.

"Mush!" he yelled and they were off. They came to a forest full of trees that had grown so close to eachother It was almost impossible to get the sled through. That afternoon they made it to Eagle Pass and stopped in a very small town called Hawksbill. They soon got the mail and started back toward's Nome. A blizzard struck them and they found themselve lost in whiteness.

" I can't see anything!" Ralph yelled. Kodi turned around and could barely see Ralph through the thick snow. " Come on guys, we can make it" Kodi said trying to reasure them, but he didn't know if they would ever make it out of the thick blizzard. His feet were sliding out from under him from ice that had formed. Suddenly he felt himself falling. He put his feet out in front of him trying to grip the ice but it was useless and they continued falling down the hill. Soon after everything went black.

Hours later Kodi woke up. Dusty, Kirby and Ralph stood over him.

" Wow, that was a hit on the head" Kirby said. " We thought you'd never get up"

Kodi looked around seeing the sled was broken and the musher was uncouncious.

"What do we do now?" Dusty asked looking at kodi.

"I'm goin back to Nome" he said getting up.

" What?" Dusty asked surprised. "How are you gonna find you're way back?" she asked.

" I'm going to do exactly what my dad did and mark the trees" he said remembering.

" I'll be back soon" he said running off. "Stay with him and don't move till I get back"

" Wait!" they tried to urge him back but he soon dissapeared through the trees.

Kodi's paws bled from the frozen ice that had formed in his pads. He pulled them out yelping with pain. It was getting harder to mark the trees from his paws but he managed. He pushed through the snow almost having to swim though it. He stopped hearing something behind him, but there was nothing.

"hmmmmm.....he said looking.

When he turned around to keep moving a cougar stared at him straight in the eyes. It roared at him and he leaped back. The huge cat swiped him with his claws and raked kodi's side. He yelped in pain and leaped on the cat, biting into his side. It threw Kodi off and he hit a tree slightly knocking him out. He could see the cougar coming towards him.

" This is really the end" he whispered to himself. Suddenly out of nowhere a dog leaped onto the cougar knocking it over. The blow sent the cat sprawling in the snow and he got up and took off running.

" Kodi, You alright?" the stranger asked, but Kodi's eyes began to focus and he could see it wasn't a stranger at all, it was Dusty

He got up shaking his head,

" Thanks Dusty," Kodi said nuzzling her.

" Anytime, Are you sure you're alright? she asked worried.

" Something told me to come see about you" she said.

"No I'm fine" Kodi said. I'm gonna keep going.

" Ok then, I'm going back to the team" she said walking back.

Late in the evening Kodi made it back to Nome, he ran full speed towards the post office. He scratched and barked at the door. Mr. Connor came out. " Well Kodiack, What are you doing here, Where's the team?" he asked looking around. Kodi barked and grabbed he sleeve of his arm pulling him. By that time Balto and Jenna ran up. " What's wrong Kodi? Balto asked. " The team, there was an accident, we need help." he said in one breath.

" You want me to follow you boy?" Mr. Connor asked. Kodi barked loudly. Soon, they had a whole group rounded up and they began following Kodi. He led the way walking fast. They came to the clearing where they could see the team.

" Look It's kodi!" Kirby shouted.

" He got help" Dusty yelled. They  carried  Mr. Simpson back to Nome. Kodiack still leading the way. The team waited outside of the doctors and saw him come out.

" He's going to be fine" he told Mr. Connor and the team itself. They barked with joy then walked to the beach.

" Hey kodi" Kirby said stopping. " Yeah?" Kodi asked.

" I was wrong about you, You're a great mail dog" he said smiling. Kodi smiled and tackled him, " You're not so bad yourself" kodi then saw Balto and loped up to him.

" You did great out there son" Balto said proudly. " You took it like a real Mail Dog." and with that Kodiack lifted his head and howled the best howl he had ever done.
