ok?” he said and sat beside him.

“No… Boris, am I a… wolf?”

Boris paused for a moment. “Well, your mother was a wolf…” Balto raised his head.

“But but your farther was a pure bread husky!” Boris continued quickly.

Balto groaned and put his head on his paws. “Where is my mother?” he whispered.

“It’s not my place to tell you these things kid, you need to find out yourself” Boris replied.

Balto got up and looked at him. “Yeah I’ll go and find out, thanks!” balto said and ran out of the boat. Boris sighed “Good luck Kido” he mumbled.

Balto ran as fast as he could until he came to a snowy meadow. “What am I thinking I’ll never find her…” balto sighed and sat down. It was getting late, the moon was out and the sky shone pink. Balto lay down and sobbed. Snow began to fall and the wind began to blow around him.

“My son…” a voice echoed around.

“Mother?” balto called and looked around

A white wolf appeared in the mist and slowly walked over to him. “My son” she repeated.

Balto was in shock. He backed away a little and folded his ears down. “Are you my mot-“ balto started

Aniu nodded slightly. “You have done my proud” she said and opened her beautiful eyes.

Snow blew faster around them and the sky changed colours.

Balto squinted his eyes. “Where’s my farther?”

Aniu sighed. “You must not linger over the past, you must look to the future” she said and an image of Jenna appeared then disappeared.

“But!” balto started.

“Hush my son, you don’t need to know…” she whispered and began to disappear.

“No mom! Mom wait!” balto called. But the white wolf was gone… the snow stopped falling and the sky turned pink again. All was calm and quiet.

Balto looked around. “Mom?” he called. All he could hear was the faint sound of howling echoing around him. Balto sighed and began to walk home wondering what he saw was a dream… her warm voice reminded him of when he was younger. Feeling her soft white fur to keep him warm. He imagined this while he walked. Thinking and hoping what he saw was really his mother. And wondering if he will ever see her again.

He grinned and ran as fast as he could to the boat. “Boris!!” he called

“Did you find what you where looking for Kido?” Boris said cheerfully.

“Yeah, come with me quickly!” he said and sprinted down the beach.

“The race is about to start Boris! And I’m gonna win!” balto said as he looked at the sled dogs.

“I hope you do”

“I will!” balto said confidently and padded to the start line.

Jenna walked over to Boris. “What’s he doing?!”

“He’s going to win that race!” Boris said and jumped up and down.

On your marks… get set… Go!

All the dogs leaped of the starting line and sprinted down the track.

“What are you doing wolf? Gonna lose again?”

Balto smirked and tried to run faster. Him and Steele where in the lead.

“I’ll finish you off wolf!” he spat and went to grab balto by his neck, but balto jumped up and Steele fell over and tumbled in to a heap of snow. “Nooooo!” Steele shouted with anger.

Balto grinned and ran as fast as he could.

“Go Balto go!!!” Boris and Jenna yelled.

Balto sprinted and raced through the finish line. The crowed started to cheer and throw flower petals everywhere. “Ladies and Gentlemen our winner!!” a man called and people cheered louder. Everyone crowded around balto and stroking him. Balto smiled and leaped out the crowed and looked to the field. A white wolf appeared and howled before him. Balto grinned and watched her disappear before he howled too. He raced over to Jenna.

Jenna smiled and nuzzled him. Then Balto thought, that his life could never be as better as this… ;)
