Enough is Enough

Enough is Enough

(started/completed on 8/11/06)

Summary: A lone wolf returns to the place of her home and reflects on what has changed. (one-shot, will never be continued, unless provoked)

Note: This is based on "certain events" and some people are mentioned, but not using names. I was not present to witness these such events, but this is my way of reflecting on recent actions.

Rating: PG for the violent truth . . . . I hope I'm not being too harsh because everyone that is here should read this. Really.

Disclaimer: Nothing is mine. Not even Balto. Duh. The characters mentioned in this are not even mine (they belong to their rightful owners/creators/whatever), and this place exists . . . can you guess where it is? However, the main character is based on me and my feelings, so enjoy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a sad, sad day for the young canine of ebony and ivory fur.

It had only been a month since she had last set her slinted brownish-black eyes on it - that city that was so large and plentiful of others like herself, seeking to spread the word of the one that they loved and idoled so.

To think that one half-breed canine of film and storytelling lore was who they worshipped like a deity was not real: they all knew that to be truth, but they believed he was. They felt his presence in their souls as they remembered the courageous act that he had committed in reality and in modern discs of film.

He was their hero, the one that changed the fates of the young children that were almost lost, and they all loved him. Whether he was the pitch black husky with flakes of white in the frames of the real world long past or the brownish-gray half-wolf that lived with a Russian gander within the frames of animation, the people of this city adored and commended the canine's bravery and strength.

But the dwellers of this city were not people. No, in reality, they were human, but in this world, they were wolves: Wolves that had either encountered or were related somehow to their precious idol by blood.

She, however wise she was, was not like them. Yes, she loved the wolf-dog like the others, but she, being an elder among many of her breed, knew better not to swim in the pool of obsession. She wove many tales of the half-breed based on his adventures - his children, his children's children, and even of the untold relationship of his lupine dam and human-bred sire; she would paint lovely portraits of his friends and family in times of happiness and joy, tears and mourning, all that were admired by those who viewed them; she would even theorize about unknown facts, causing other followers to ponder many a hour.

But now, she stood on a hill, overlooking this city now, wondering:

How can this be? What on Earth has caused this to happen here? Of all places, why here? Why now?

Why?

The city that she had remembered as thriving and glowing bright with promise and popularity was beginning to crumble. Instead of happiness and sunshine lighting up the skies, it was flames, burning pits of ashes filling the air with smoke and fury. There were numerous guards in sight, watching over the growing bulletin board for rule-breakers and others that knew nothing of what to do in order to make themselves and their opinions known. The ruler and main founder of the city, remained firm about his laws of his land, making sure that his guardsmen enforced the proper rules, but he was the same as he had always been. He was not the problem here - it was the underlings that caused this sudden turmoil and chaos.

She saw terrible sights of several teenage wolves growling and snarling at one other, gripeing over stolen pieces of treasured arts and naive, young cubs that were not as knowledgeable of the regulations that all had to follow. The female could only shake her elegant black head sadly as one creature, in the form of a small, odd-looking yet quite talented feline of many tails grabbed her work with her paws and abandoned her dwelling in an angry threat, turning her back on the city that she had once felt safe in. It filled the lupine's heart with sorrow that her fellow wolves would cause such a prodigy to lose trust on those who adored her picturesque visions of their wonderful deity.

But she was not the only one. Several others, all talented geniuses of their own fare, also escaped from the town to create their own safe haven for themselves. The lupine could have easily done the same since she was, like them, multi-talented, polite, well-loved and looked up to by the underlings, however, she knew better than to take the easy way out.

Why should I leave? She thought to herself as she saw, to her surprise, a couple of young wolf cubs emerging from the city's only library with one of her own authored storybooks. Do I have to leave as they did? I am and have always been a loyal subject of Him, but I made new things based on His stories and adventures. Sure, I face the risk of thievery as much as the next lupine, but I could care less. Just look upon the happiness and pure joy on their faces as they read my work! Their happiness is all I care about . . . I can't take this seeing this fighting anymore - enough is enough!

Tears began to drip down her black cheek onto her white chest, then splashing down on the ground near her four-toed front paws. Why can't we roam in peace without the fear of the unfaithful? No matter what happens, some will steal with permission and get away with it, but should this cause us to curse and abandon all, including the true loyal followers? No . . . it shouldn't, and it won't anymore . . .

The lupine's tears began to form a puddle underneath where she stood - the more tears she cried, the larger the pool grew. Please, please . . . I beg you to stop this fighting and petty bickering! We are all fans, eternal followers of the brave sled dog that has touched our hearts. Must we continue this verbal bloodshed in order to reach a truce? There must be another way to solve this . . .

The once miniscule puddle was now a rapidly-raging river, hell-bent of destroying the root of the problem. Is this the only way? Destroying the old in order to bring in the new? This cannot be true, but if it is to be so . . . may Aniu's will be done . . .

All the young lupine could do was watch as she heard howling screams and panicking cries of those she had once spoken to, clinging for dear life from the threat of drowning in the roaring sea beneath them. Dwelling houses were demolished in the sudden river's path, as were those creatures in its way. It saddened the wolf of darkness and light to have this happen and if this were avoidable, she would have tried her hardest to make sure that this tragic end was preventable.

I am sorry, my friends, but this is the fate your decisions have led to . . . We are no longer power-hungry creatures - we are on equal footing, there are no real enemies, only good friends are present. We are the same - can't you see? Can you hear the call of the one who connects us to one another?

My friends, the healing and the ultimate revolution has only just begun . . . . it is time for a change.

Thanks! It was just a quick write-up that just came to me
after hearing about certain incidents. Short, sweet (not
really), and simple . . . that's all it was. Glad you like
it. (This fic proves that I can write something other than
romance fics!)

VERRRRRY clever! My hat's off! You have a clever
skill with the keyboard, and with saying things without
really saying them!

I see what you were writing about! When I saw "similar
events" I thought you meant in your fics. But It's really on
here! Great fic, really great! I want to write one like that
now. Maybe...but I most definately WON'T copy yours. Mine'll
be different.

Bwahaha . . . oh noes, did I just start a revolution?

Glad you liked it, ApricotWolf! Sadly, it just
begged to be written . . . and to think I was nervous about
posting it here (note: this is my first fic that I haven't
posted in the forums before posting it here!)! Thanks again!

redwolf03: It had to be done, so I did it. I'm still shocked
that it was the first fic that I've ever written to become
"Fanfic of the Week"! I'm so grateful, and I still believe
everyone on here should read this! Thank you so much! I'm
honored, really!
