him before.

“Hi,” she said.

The dog walked closer to her.

Jenna began to feel a little uneasy, as she looked and there was no one around.

Her past experience with strange dogs and ally ways, screamed at her to run away, but she didn’t, she just stood there.

“Are you new here?” She asked.

The dog chuckled and nodded.

“I didn’t think I’d seen you before.” She said.

“So you’re a local?” The dog asked.

Jenna nodded.

“I’ve lived here my whole… well most of my life.”

The dog took another step toward her…

…..and fell on his face.

Jenna walked over to him.

“Are you okay?” She asked.

He winced.

“It’s just this leg, I.. I was in a fight not too long ago, here, just when I got here, a black dog, him and a couple of friends jumped me.”

“Was it out on the outskirts?” Jenna asked.

“Those run down buildings east of here?” The dog asked.

Jenna nodded.

“Yeah,” the dog said.

Jenna shook her head.

“I hate that place.”

The dog laughed.

“With good reason,” he said.

Jenna helped him to his feet.

“Well that looks bad,” she said, “come on, I’ll take you to doc… er.. our vet.”

The dog nodded, and limped slowly after Jenna.

Jenna had waited for the dog to get out of the hospital, she wanted to make sure he could get wherever he was going.

“I remember what it’s like to be new,” she thought.

The door to the hospital opened, and the dog limped out.

He smiled when he saw her waiting on him, and walked down the steps.

“Is it better?” Jenna said.

“For now,” the dog said, “I’m sure it’ll hurt

later.”

“Where are you going?” Jenna asked. “Maybe I can help you get there.”

The dog smiled.

“I’m actually not going anywhere,” he said, “I’m just wandering around.”

“Oh,” Jenna said.

The dog smiled at her again.

“I’m sorry, where are my manners, my name is Togo.”

Jenna smiled back at him.

”Jenna.”

“Well Jenna,” Togo said, “how about you show me around a bit, I don’t know anyone else here.”

“Sure,” Jenna said, ”I’ll take you to the old mill. You can meet all kinds of people there.”

“Sounds great,” Togo said.

The two of them walked towards the sidewalk on Main Street.

Balto looked out the window of the building he was in.

Luke had left him in the building, as the weather was starting to turn sour.

Most of the time that meant snow, but as Balto watched, rain began to patter against the window.

Balto sighed.

He hated getting wet, and the Jenner was an open cockpit.

“I wonder what Jenna’s doing right now?” Balto thought.

Luke came into the building then, he was soaking wet already.

“Let’s go boy, the sooner we get above the clouds, the sooner it’ll stop being so wet.”

Balto hadn’t thought of that.

He ran for the door, and jumped up into his spot.

Luke once again cranked on the propeller, and soon they were airborne.

Jenna laughed.

“That’s a good one.”

Togo smiled.

“Yeah, it is, I can’t quite remember who told me that.”.”

Jenna stopped walking.

Togo walked up beside her and stopped as well.

“I… I’ve really enjoyed today Jenna.”

Jenna looked at him.

“So have I, you’re an interesting guy. Balto will probably want to meet you when he gets back, you planning on sticking around?”

“Who’s Balto?” Togo asked.

“Oh,” Jenna said, “sorry, Balto is my mate.”

“Oh,” Togo said, “ye.. yeah, yeah I’d love to meet him. Balto huh? Isn’t he the one that saved this town?”

Jenna smiled and nodded.

“The one and only. He should be back tomorrow, why don’t you meet me at my house, and I’ll walk you down to his.”

“Okay,” Togo said, “I will.”

“Great,” Jenna said.

She walked up into the house.

Togo sighed, and walked away.

Chapter 3

Jenna awoke the next morning to someone scratching on the door.

She yawned walked over to it, and stuck her head out.

Togo was standing there.

“Hey!” he said, “good morning.”

Jenna yawned.

“Morning Togo.”

“Are you tired?” Togo asked. “You look like you just got up.”

Jenna smiled.

“The kids didn’t want to sleep last night…” she yawned, “… or any night for that matter.”

“Kids?” Togo asked.

“Yeah,” Jenna said, “you want to see them?”

“Sure,” Togo said.

“Well come in.” Jenna said, then she disappeared.

Togo walked through the doggy door.

He looked around.

“Nice place,” he thought.

Jenna walked over to the basket.

“Shh,” she said. “They’re still sleeping.”

“What are their names?” Togo asked.

Jenna smiled.

“The gray one is a male, and his name is Likea, the other one is a female, and her name is Sheae.”

“They’re beautiful,” Togo said.

“So,” Jenna said, “you ready to go meet Balto.”

“Oh Balto?” Togo said, “Yeah, let’s go.”

Jenna and Togo talked all the way to Luke’s house, which wasn’t far, but he managed to make her laugh quite a few times.

She was laughing when they walked up the steps to Luke’s house.

“Balto’s going to like you,” Jenna said, “you’re a pretty funny guy.”

She scratched on the door.

Momentarily, a gray dog stuck his head out.

“Hey Jen,” he said.

Jenna smiled.

“So did the trip go alright?”

Balto nodded.

“No problem.”

Then he noticed the dog beside her.

“Who is this?”

Jenna smiled again.

“This is Togo, I met him yesterday.”

Togo stepped forward.

“Hello.”

“Hi,” Balto said.

“He was hurt….” Jenna started.

Togo interrupted her.

“And Jenna helped me.”

“He wondered out into the outskirts and got jumped.” Jenna finished.

“You gotta watch it out there.” Balto said.

Togo laughed.

“Yeah, I know that now.”

“Balto,” Jenna said, “we were thinking that you and I might show Togo around town, get him to meet some people, since he’s new and all.”

“That sounds great,” Balto said, “I’m not doing anything right now, give me a sec, and I’ll be right out.”

“Alright,” Jenna said.

She turned to Togo.

“So, where do you want to go?”

“I don’t’ know,” Togo answered, “I don’t know anything about this place.”

“Alright, well, we’ll take you to the old mill again, maybe we can meet some new people there.”

“Sounds great,” Togo said.

“And Max and Flash, and Kodi and Dusty should be back soon, then you can meet them. Max and Flash are my parents, and Kodi is my son, Dusty is his mate, oh and there’s Tim and Tycha, and their son, oh and I forgot to introduce you to Blaize, he was staying here, with his dad, but I think he went out in town…”

Togo laughed.

“Do you know everyone here?”

Jenna smiled.

Balto stepped through the door.

“Pretty much.”

“Are you ready?” Jenna asked.

“Yeah, let’s go.” Balto answered, then the three of them began to walk towards town.

Jenna and Balto walked into the old mill, followed closely by Togo.

“I guess they just let anyone in here nowadays huh?”

Jenna turned.

Jamie smiled.

“Oh, hey Jamie, how’re you doing?”

“Just fine ,” Jamie said. “Who’s your friend?”

“Oh,” Balto said, “as he stepped forward, “this is Togo, he’s new here.”

“Well I’m Jamie,” Jamie said, “nice to meet you.”

“You too,” Togo said.

“Meko come here.” Jamie yelled.

A white husky walked up to her.

“What is it Jamie?”

“This is Togo, he’s new here,” Jamie said.

She turned to Togo.

“Are you planning on staying long?”

“Probably,” Togo said.

“Well it’s nice to meet you.”

Meko turned to Balto.

“Has Jamie told you the news yet?”

Balto shook his head.

“What news?”

Jamie got embarrassed looking.

“Meko… I hardly think now is the time to…”

He cut her off.

“We’re going to have pups of our own soon.”

Jamie looked even more embarrassed.

“Well that’s fantastic!” Jenna said, “you’ll make a great mom Jamie.”

“Thanks,” Jamie said, somewhat quietly, “I hope so.”

The sounds of dogs barking, reached their ears then.

“Hey,” Balto said, “bet that’s the team.”

Jenna looked out the window.

“But they’re two hours early.” Jenna said.

Balto smiled.

“You know Kodi.”

Jenna laughed.

“Yeah I guess so.”

She turned to Togo.

“Come on, I’ll introduce you to my son Kodi.

“It was nice to meet you Togo.” Jamie said.

“You too Jamie, Meko.” Togo answered and then he turned to walk away.

“Oh,” he added, “and good luck with the family.”

“Yeah,” Jenna added, “we’ll talk more
