"This can't be happening! I am going to die! And my poor pup too!" Pink Voilet thought to herself. She was being chased by nasty wolves with human owners. The men where shooting her while she ran with her pup in her mouth. She stopped near a bush and set her pup down. "Your something I can't risk taking farther." She whispered to her new born. Pink Voilet heard shots then dashed off running. The baby wolf watched her mother round a corner. There was shot and a loud thump. Near by, A female wolve watched in horrer. She swiftley dashed over to the bush and picked up the weeping pup. "Don't worry. I'll take care of you. You won't be alone," Silent Caper whispered to the pup, "Black Mares." She took off running with Black Mares showing her to Caper's mate. Moonlight Stepper was a feirce pack leader until that day. He wasn't as hard when Black mares came along. But he still had room for hunting and a little fighting. Black Mares was growing up and Moonlight taught how to be a wolf. On a perfect afternoon Moonlight and Caper told Mares something. "Mares, We thought that you should know something." Caper told Mares. "Yea, what is it? Is somthing wrong?" Mares asked curisley. "Nothing is wrong. It's just that, ohhh.... Moonlight you tell her!" She seemed like it was that point in life that parents refer to "their baby's growing up" Moonlight said firmly, " Well, since your older your going to have to join the pack (shadow moon). And to do that you need to kill an animal for our pack to feast on." Caper burst in tears saying, "My baby's growing up! (see what I mean?)" and "She is too young!" Moonlight calmed her down then continued, "Are you up to it?" Mares looked at both her (step) parents. "I am up to it." She said with her mother crying loudly again. Moonlight exscorted Caper out. "Are you sure?" he asked. "I am part of the family and not in the pack, I am sure." she replied. "Okay. I'll show you where I saw a big pack of deer. Attack then bring them back here. One by one. Fail, then we'll have to go hungrey tonight." Mares gulped. An hour later Moonlight showed Mares where to go and left her to hunt. "This is my time to show I am worthy." Mares thought. She saw the deer a little while later. She pounced and attacked every one. Mares then knew she was worthy. She did as her farther said take them back one by one. Once she was done her father made an annoucment. " Black Mares is now an honnorary member of Shadow Moon. This is the biggest feast we've ever had because of Mares' bravery and honnor to this pack!" That night ever one feasted on the deer Mares caught. For years to come every one would remember her, Black Mares the brave and honnored.
