Jenna nudged Balto’s side when she did this he jerked.
“Balto. There’s water right next to you.”
He finely managed to open his right eye, everything was a blur at first then the image cleared to Jenna’s worried face. He managed to look down at the water, he was going to ask Jenna to see if she was thirty, but his voice was dead. He forced himself to drink some water. The water renewed his throat but hurt badly at the same time.
He drank half the water dish, you knew now his voice was some what had returned “Jenna, I’m sorry.” He voice was still raspy but not as bad as before.
“There’s nothing to be sorry about, Balto.” Jenna was about to burst into tears.
Hector made a short laugh, “Heh, the only sorry thing is that guy that shot the heck out ya, he won’t be able to put a gun in his left hand anymore, I’m wanted now I guess.”
“No your not Hector he left yesterday he sold his team to someone.” Jenna said still staring at Balto.
Balto jerked in pain again, but he managed to get his left eye half open. “I guess I was, idiot then.”
Hector looked over at Balto, Jenna half cried out, “No, no, your smart the smartest your no idiot!”
The words made him feel better, but he knew it was his fault for what happened to him. T words from his long past came to him, “Your never going to be anyone! Your going to be shot one day!” it’s my fault, it’s my entirely fault! I can’t be a father things keep getting worse and worse. I never thought of you Jenna just myself.
“I never cared for anyone. I should have listened to you Jenna.” He said to loud.
Jenna caught her self-crying, “No, stop it I was angry that’s all.” She remembered what she said to him.
Hector was about to say something, but Balto cried out as a spasm of pain over took him. He knew they were looking at him, Jenna in tears, “How long I have I been out.” He staggered out in his pain.
Hector looked at Balto with anger this time, “What? It’s been three days!”
What? That means that’s only four days and two weeks away. Balto grunted as the spasm had ended. His panted harder than before, his kept his eyes open despite the great pain.
What I’m going to do. I can’t be, a father! I’d get them in matters of my own suffering I don’t want that for them. No! He felt himself getting heavily tried.
Jenna, and Hector could see he was exhausted from pulling himself up.
“Just sleep Balto, it’s fine.” He heard Jenna say. He felt his wake leave him.
Balto found him self between a red dog wolf but red, the other one a lot how Balto looked, he heard the red on say, “Cronos,(said like Kronos)“That’s loud, I’m right here.”
The pain had woken Balto up, grunted as pain surged though out him. When will it end? Balto could feel the blood once more flow between his teeth. “How long, I been?”
He could her Boris answer him, “Two days, if you do that again Jenna will die from despair.”
“She deservers better than me.” He uttered out.
“Vhat! Why do think that!” Boris yelled out.
“Because I missed up too many times.” He quietly said.
“She loves you Balto and you love her, you’ll work it out with her.” Boris calmly said.
He noticed that he was mopping. I need to tell her about the fight and what that means, for me. He cried out as the pain went though him again.
“AHH! Gosh! You make me believe that you died right there every time you do that!” He could hear hector say to him.
Hector continued, “Please drink, Jenna told me to keep you not trusty. Like what I heard a sponge.” Hector said to him.
“What? I’m not thirsty thank you.” Balto angrily said to Hector.
Hector sighed its going to be a long recovery. The next days were the same Balto would go though hours of pain, sleep and thrust, then blame, and calm he’s a failure. Jenna tried to comfort him, but he didn’t change three days till bloom.
Boris came in that morning to see how Balto was he dropped his mop and ran to him he was dead asleep but blood was seeping out of his mouth and were he been shot. “Balto!” Boris cried out.
Hector walked in I thought this wouldn’t happen but it does, they start to recover than they die! Hector chocked back his tears. This isn’t fair he was going to be father Darn it!!
Balto made no movement expect for his slow and weak breathing. Jenna had checked on him.
Hector screamed at Boris “Did you tell her!” Hector growled and was an inch from killing Boris.
“No! No! I didn’t.” Boris protested.
“You left and she hasn’t returned! You told you foul!” Hector opened his mouth.
“Told me what!” Jenna jumped between Hector and Boris.
Hector growled at Jenna. Jenna could see tears in his eyes.
“Go see for yourself!” Hector chocked out as he ran down the wooden plank and ran for the woods.
Jenna’s heart stopped beating. The thought, hit her mind, Balto is dead. NO!! It can be the burning pain had stabbed her heart. Burning tears burned down Jenna’s face. She darted for the door that led to where Balto was. He was getting better he can’t be. He was getting BETTER! Jenna ran in front of Balto, who lying on his side. She could see the blood seeping from his mouth and wounds. She waited for Balto’s breathing, but it didn’t. Jenna waited for one minute waiting, so waiting for him to breath, to smile at her, but never came. At the end of minute two Jenna darted out refusing to expect what had just seen. Boris flew away.
Boris couldn’t believe it either. He was so strong, but why! Boris felt his own heart ache at his passing. Balto has now been dead for four minutes. Boris would go back to burry Balto.
Jenna ran to boiler room, she had gotten a cramp but didn’t care her love of her life was gone. She clasped in the right upper hand side of the room.
Hector ran with no sense his best friend was gone, it was he’s only friend, in his truth his pack always saw him as an outsider. “It was my life to be taken!” Hector howled as loud and as long as he could.
Jenna felt her cramp get worse, she swore at it. But slowly realized what was happening. Balto appeared in her mind, the fate chose for his children to born he died. She felt alone there was no one to help her. A cloud out side darkened the room. Jenna felt the cramps turn to pain; she lay, on her side. She felt so alone as she lay there. Jenna listened to her heart, and no longer felt alone. Balto..Jenna felt it.
She dealt with it, and being alone, but didn’t feel alone, she felt as went though in giving birth, there had been two she couldn’t see them that well. She thought of Balto, how she now longed for him to be there, she remembered when they thought about and agreed on it, ‘Balto calm down.’ ‘How can I be so calm I’m excited out my very skin! I have to think of names.’ ‘Just wait Balto they won’t be around for a while.’ ‘Well I’ll wait I’ll be ready!’ the memories made Jenna cry, the burning pain in her heart was overwhelming.
“Don’t cry baby.” A voice spoke to her from behind her.
Jenna turned around to Balto standing there. “BALTO!!” She cried out. Balto walked closer so Jenna could burry her face in his fur. She murmured, “But how you died, I was there.” He answered her, “Well sometimes you’ll just die for five minutes.” Jenna sobbed in his fur. “Boris told me about sometime things really die for five minutes.” Jenna sobbed out, “Never do that again.” He smiled and rubbed his head against her neck.
“And who are those beautiful little devils?” He asked Jenna quietly.
The clouds had gone; the room was now better lit. Jenna could see them better now. One was red like Jenna but had very little wolf quality, a lot more dog. The other was brownish a lot of wolf was in him, a little less than Balto almost a clone of Balto.
“I haven’t named them yet.” Jenna confused.
Balto smiled, “I’ll let you name the first one the red one.”
Jenna smiled back tears were still in her face. “Cinder.”
She said softly unsure if Balto would like it.
Balto stared at the brownish young puppy, “Cronos.” He spoke with confidence.
Jenna nudged him, “Cinder, and Cronos.” Balto and Jenna looked at the two boundless of joy.
