Wolf's Rain Two: Part 1
Finding Two And One
Bang!
A loud noise was heard as a trash can hit the ground and filth poured out from it to the stone ground. Snarling, a large beautiful redish brown animal dug through it to find any source of food. None.
Hanging it's head, the wolf whimpered slightly. Damn! I couldn't smell a rabbit if it were under my nose. Turning away, he limped off. The wolf was quite scrawny and looked very uncared for, as if he had no home or family, even friends.
The clinging of his silver bracelets was ignored with each pawstep. His amber eyes were no longer full of joy, or hope, they were dull with another life of pain and disappointment.
Two years...two years since the great journey to find Paradise, and he couldn't remember a thing about it. He didn't even know that he traveled with the wolf who would open Paradise.
Suddenly his ears pricked and he jerked his head up, fur bristling. Another scent, though somehow familiar. One he hadn't known in the longest of times...a lifetime, literally. It was wierd, as if he knew the wolf, yet didn't know all at once...
A man began yelling and a shot rang through the air, then a black streak flew past the brown wolf and down the alley. Whipping around to look, he saw fellow black wolf taking off across the streets, meat in it's mouth.
With a yelp, the brown wolf dodged a bullet that bounced near his paw, and he took off after the other wolf as a chubby, drunk looking man yelled out curses to him and the other. Finally the man gave up and stumbled back into his beaten down store.
Blinking, the red wolf turned to glance behind him and make sure the man had left for good. The black wolf had disappeared, though it left a scent trail behind. Ears flicking, the young yearling began to follow it, nose sorting out which scents were the cities and the wolfs.
After a few minutes of running and being careful, the trail lead to another, half torn down alley. Sighing when he didn't see anything, the wolf began to walk past it.
"TOBOE?!" He heard his name ring out from the back of the alley, and the wolf turned to look with wide amber eyes. Who in the world would know his name besides himself? Squinting, Toboe saw two wolves huddled up near the corner in the dark. He caught scent of the black wolf he'd been following earlier.
"It IS him!" A black wolf lunged from the shadows, familiar blue eyes wide with suprise and half relief.
"Blue?" Toboe's jaw dropped. How in the hell could it be Blue? Suddenly flashes went before the red wolf's eyes, and he even heard two loud gunshots, then a searing pain went through his chest. Toboe began to remember all the journies before, how he made friends, and his own death. Kiba, Tsume, Hige, Blue...Cheza. It was all coming back to him.
"How...what the-OW!" Blue knocked him right off his paws, tail wagging a mile an hour. Blue was covering him with nuzzles, he could barely tell that another wolf was racing forward. Hige!
"Chibi, is that you?" The light tan/golden wolf laughed and padded forward, tail wagging and eyes bright. "I can't believe we've all met up again!"
Not all of us, Toboe thought, but shook his head and stood up. "How did you guys get here?!" Toboe had traveled many miles from the hometown when he saw a familiar girl that went by the name Leara. He felt like she didn't want him there, even though whenever she walked by he'd get a treat from her groceries. It felt to wierd to stick around there.
Blue barked happily. "Hige and I found each other just a few months ago, and we went looking for you guys and wound up here! And I'm suprised that I didn't find him earlier. You can hear his stomach growl from miles away."
"I know that's true, " Toboe replied. Hige smirked.
"Glad to have you back, kid." He growled almost playfully, though he seriously was a bit ticked off from the hunger comment. Finally his ears pricked. "Hey, speaking of food...who's hungry?"
Toboe was about to say yes, before Blue ran off to grab a piece of meat. "Hey, you were the one that man was yelling at!" He realized.
"So I was! And you were the dumb nut standing there like an idiot when he had a gun in his hands." The blue eyed wolf replied and dropped the meat near the two males.
Hige dropped down to eat at once, of course. Blue sat, obviously already having eaten her fill in the time that Toboe took following her trail. The red wolf dipped his head to take a bite, when he heard Blue.
"That's strange...You still have it." She blinked and cocked her head to the side.
Toboe looked up. "Still have what?"
Blue shook her head. "Nothing, you just still have a mark where the bullet hit you."
Come to think of it...I never really wondered why I did have that, Toboe blinked. Sighing, he went back to eating.
Hige flicked an ear like he didn't even hear all of this, and was gulping down his food. Finally he lay down on his back with a yawn. "Yum."
Toboe let out a yawn as well and put his head on his paws tiredly. After days of hunger, he was well fed and safe to sleep. For once he fell into a slumber where he wasn't disturbed for a long while.
Waking up, Toboe lifted his head and blinked until his vision cleared. It was night and the stars weren't shining on them, it was the city street lights. Stretching, the red wolf sat up and looked around. Blue was lying beside Hige on a crate, both fast asleep and looking very comfortable.
Tipping his head, Toboe secretly wondered what it was like to fall in love. Lucky Hige to have Blue, she was a good wolf. Toboe ignored the rest of his thoughts and scratched an ear with a back paw.
Toboe stood up and padded over to the back of the alley and leaned against the fence that sealed them off from the other streets. No cars passed by at all at this time of night. The moon wasn't even in view, therefore it couldn't be a full moon. However the wolf kept watching, not knowing what for exactly.
I suppose I miss the rest of the pack. He sighed. But Toboe felt like that wasn't the only thing missing. Confused, the young wolf sat down and looked up at the sky for quite a while. For some reason he couldn't sleep, and it wasn't because of the excitement of finding two friends, or wanting to find the other two.
After about an hour Toboe slipped into sleep before he realized it, lying in a corner of the fence.
Again the wolf awoke only minutes after, amber eyes even duller yet awake. Growling with frustration, Toboe stood up and padded away from the corner of the alley. He passed Blue and Hige, who were still sound asleep, then left the alley for a walk. Maybe if he kept going down the street he could get his head clear, and rid of whatever was on his mind.
Stiffling a long yawn, he sat down on the streets a few blocks away and looked up at a flickering street light. He finally let the yawn come, and ignored when the street light finally gave in and the lightbulb went out.
Toboe was just about to head back and try to sleep, before he caught sight of wolf eyes across the street, glaring at him. His fur began to bristle uncomfortably. If another wolf was in this town then that was great; just not if it wanted to kill him.
"Er...hello?" He barked into the darkness. The ice blue eyes only blinked, and narrowed even more. Hanging his head slightly, Toboe wondered whether to say something else or go back to Hige and Blue.
Suddenly it spoke from the shadows. "Are you a dog or a wolf?" Instead of sounding as cold as Toboe thought it would be, the voice was slightly curious and scared sounding.
"Um, wolf. You?" Toboe stayed still and didn't make another move. It could be a trick of some sort, even if it was against all odds that a fellow wolf would do such a thing.
"I am a wolf. I have been searching for those of my kind for a year now." it began to sound a bit suspicious, but Toboe was feeling the same way, so he couldn't blame it.
"My name is Toboe, who are you?"
"I suggest you get out of here. Wolves aren't wanted here in the first place, being here at night will get you killed." It didn't answer it's question, but before Toboe could open his mouth, a large streak headed towards him with a loud snarl, but was caught in mid air with a chain around it's neck. A large, lean white female wofl was snapping her jaws at Toboe, blue eyes narrowed madly to slits.
"GO! GET OUT OF HERE!" It clawed the air at him and Toboe raced off immediately, not even looking back once.
"Crazy dog!" he snarled under his breath as he ran. Toboe skidded into the alley just as the sunrise was happening, and quickly lay down to try and steady his fast breathing. If Hige and Blue woke up to see him scared looking, they'd know he'd been wandering about.
Finally he calmed down and tried to act asleep until the two woke up.
