TITANIC

Wednesday April 10th, 1912

Kenai a black and white husky and his mate a brown husky named Nakao arrived at the Southampton harbor. They both got out of their car and looked up at the towering black behemoth that stood before them, they looked at the orange funnels that toped the ship’s deck they also watched people moving around on the boat deck and others on the promenade deck waving to their loved ones in the crowd of people. Kenai remembered the look on his parents faces when he told him that he would being sailing on the Titanic. The day he left he hugged his younger brother Balto who said “have a nice trip” his parents said “have a nice trip and please take care of yourself” he replied “I will mum and dad I will by you guys a new wardrobe as soon as I get to America” he turned from his parents and his brother Balto and stepped into his car and drove away on the car door mirrors he watched as they disappeared from view.

Kenai turned to Nakao and could see the ship reflect in her blue eyes, she noticed him looking at her and she said “the ship is a wondrous creation’ Kenai looked at the Titanic and said “she sure is” the gathered up their bags and walked towards a man in a navy blue suit he looked at them and said “all third class passengers please move towards the lower gangway” Kenai looked from him to a open gangway door that lead to E deck where other passengers were boarding Titanic.

He and Nakao walked up to the gangway door and stepped through it they were greeted by a man who said “welcome to Titanic may I please see your tickets” Kenai and Nakao handed him his tickets after he checked them he said “your room is on G-Deck” they both looked at him and turned towards the bow they went down a hallway, down another flight of stairs where they walked down another hallway and down another stairwell where they found their cabin the rooms number was G-10 they entered the room. The room had white washed walls and in one corner stood a wash basin and a wardrobe dresser that had lifejackets sitting on top of it. Nakao looked around the room and said in disgust to Kenai “they could have painted the room a different color” Kenai laughed and said “what would you have wanted them to paint it green perhaps” she glared at him. After they put their luggage in their room they went up on the stern to watch the departure of the ship, They saw hundreds of people that gathered in a crowd who were yelling and cheering all of a sudden they felt the ships engines come alive and they could feel the vibrations beneath their feet. They watched as the ship began to pull away from the dock and as they Titanic passed the other ships tied to the dock one of them named they New York broke free of it’s ropes tying it to the dock and floated into Titanic path Kenai and Nakao closed their eyes and braced for a impact but their was no impact, a bunch of tugboats were able to get between the Titanic and the New York just in time before they collided. Kenai opened his eyes and so did Nakao he said “that was way to close” she shook her head yes.

Thursday April 11th, 1912

Kenai and Nakao spent most of their time exploring the ship and also like to spend some of their time in the third class general room in the stern talking and reading books. When it was time for dinner they went to the third class dining room which had whitewashed walls and white linen sheets spread over the tables Kenai pulled a chair out for Nakao she sat down in it and looked as he sat down next to her she looked at him and said “what do you wish to do after dinner” he replied “well we could be explore parts of the ship that we haven’t seen yet” she looked and him and said “that would be nice” she looked around the room and saw other people sitting and eating while others talked she turned to him and said “this ship is so big how will we see it all” he replied “we will.”

After dinner was over both Kenai and Nakao walked around to explore they went up one stairwell to find that there was a gate that was locked they saw a crewman walking by and Kenai said to him “sir would you please open this gate so we may explore the ship” the crewman turned to them and said “sorry third class passengers are to stay in their own areas” Kenai was taken aback and said “why” the crewman replied “because we don’t want the likes of you mingling with the first class people” the crewman turned and walked away. At every other stairwell they found there was always a gate locked and the crewmen there always said “No third class” Kenai looked at Nakao and said “well I guess we won’t be seeing the rest of the ship” she looked at him and said “I guess so” they walked down the stairwell and went to their cabin and went to bed.

Friday April 12th, 1912

On Friday Kenai and Nakao went up on deck and watch the people on the deck they saw a crewman walking the dogs on the poop deck while others walked around look out at the sea. Kenai looked at Nakao and could see the sea reflect in her blue eyes, she turned to him and said “this is a beautiful view isn’t it” Kenai replied while still looking at her “yeah it is beautiful” she turned to him and blushed. Later they went to the third class general room where they talked before going to bed. Titanic was to receive a iceberg later that night from the La Touraine.

Saturday April 13th, 1912

Kenai and Nakao woke up the next day to only walk around the ship and enjoy each others company. At dinner they ate with the Lindells and their friend August Wennerstrom after dinner they went to the third class general room. Kenai turned to Nakao and said “do you think it was a good idea to buy the ticket to come on this ship” Nakao was taken aback by this and replied “it was worth it when we get to America we will make a lot of money and perhaps even start a family” Kenai replied “yeah that would be nice” he looked into her eyes and saw concern in them he said “don’t worry about me I will be fine” she said “I know you will but these that you are saying is what concerns me” he replied “just ignore what I say I was just rambling” she nodded. Titanic was to receive more ice warnings from the Rappahannock.

Saturday April 14th, 1912

At 9:00 A.M the Titanic received more ice warnings from the ships Caronia, Noordam, and the Baltic. 

Kenai and Nakao spent most of the day walking on deck and at 1:45 they returned below to their room where they sat and talked at the same time The Titanic received another ice warning from the german liner called the Amerika. At 7:30 Kenai and Nakao were already asleep but the Titanic was to receive more ice warnings from the ship the Californian and at 9:30 they were to receive the final ice warning from the ship Mesaba this message wasn’t given to the bridge and to the officers on duty this warning told the location of the iceberg that lay in Titanic path the message was placed on a spike and left there.

11:40 PM April 14th, 1912

The Titanic is sailing through calm waters when all of a sudden the lookout Fredrick Fleet spotted a dark shape off of Titanic’s bow he rang the ships bell three times then picked up the phone that allowed him to speak to the officers in the bridge a mans voice crackled over the phone saying “what do you see” he replied “iceberg right ahead” the officer on duty ordered the helmsman to turn the helm hard to port and the engines full astern(reversed) these efforts proved futile the Titanic hit the iceberg and popping rivets as she scraped the iceberg these popped rivets separated the hull plates allowing water into the ship.

Kenai awoke as he heard the scraping noise, Nakao also was awoken by the noise she turned to Kenai he looked at her and could see the fear in her eyes she asked him “what was that” he replied “I dunno” they both went back to sleep for about ten minutes when Kenai was awoken again by a strange sound he looked at Nakao she was still sleeping. Kenai swung his legs over the side of the bed and was to land in cold water he yelped at the cold Nakao awoke because of his yelp and in a sleepy voice said “whats wrong” he replied “there is water on the floor” she said to him with fear in her voice “there is” Kenai walked over to the light switch and turned it on he was to find that there was a inch or two of water on the floor. He looked at Nakao to see her eyes widen in surprise she looked at him and said “something must be wrong” she watched as he through on his clothes and he walked to the wardrobe dresser and pulled a lifejacket over his head and tied it he looked at her and said “you might want to get dressed” she got out of bed and got dressed she then put on a lifebelt. Then both walked out of their room and saw other people looking at the water with confused looks on their faces while other some wearing lifebelts carrying their bags and walking towards the stern. Kenai and Nakao made there way up a stairwell to F-Deck where they went up another stairwell that had been locked a group of people was standing there asking if they could go up to the boats the stewards replied “second class only no third class” they kept arguing with the steward but the steward kept saying the same thing, Kenai turned to Nakao and could see the locked gate reflect in her eyes she turned to him and said “what do we do” he replied “not stand here and wait that steward will never let us out of here we will have to find other way” she nodded they walked down the stairwell and walked up the hall but at every other stairwell it was the same thing steward not letting passengers to the boat deck Kenai and Nakao joined a crowd that included Daniel Buckley a Irish immigrant the man standing in front of him was a large muscular man who was arguing with the steward slammed his body against the gate knocking it over the muscular man ran after the steward while the other people including Daniel Buckley and Kenai
