COME BACK BALTO

INTRODUCTION: The date is November 21st 1916 the Britannic has sunk carrying with her 30 people including Balto.

Two days after the Britannic went down Jenna, Aleu, Kodi and Dusty returned home to Ireland all of them were silent. Jenna looked at her son who was sitting in a large brown armchair staring into space he didn’t notice his mother’s gaze. Kodi kept seeing the events that lead to his fathers death repeat again and again in his mind like a motion picture he thinks “why dad why,” Jenna looks at the others who are silent as the grave Aleu was looking around the room wondering if she would ever see her father again while Dusty stood in the corner of the room staring at the floor tear began to well up in her eyes. Just then there was a knock at the door they all jumped if they had be awoken from a deep sleep they all looked at each other Kodi stood up and went to the door he opened it and standing outside of it was Brigham he looked at Kodi and said “may I come in” Kodi nodded Brigham walked in and looked around and said” I hear you might have needed some company so here I am” he smiled they all looked at him then he said “look I realize Baltos death has caused you much grief but I don’t think he would want you sitting here being sad he would want all of you to move on and live your lives” they all looked at him Jenna stood up and said “you’re right” she looked at the others and could see herself reflect in their eyes they all nodded.

Far above in Heaven Balto was floating on a cloud thinking about what he could be doing with his family right now instead of being here Balto’s brother named Kenai strolled across the clouds to him he said “again Balto with the mourning” Balto looked up at him and said “I cannot stand being here I want to be with them so bad” Kenai looked at him and said “I know how it feels but there is no way you can get back to them you are here and they are there” Balto said “there must be a way” Kenai looked at him and said “you know there might just be a way” Balto stood up and said “really” Kenai looked at him and saw the excitement flicker in his brothers eyes and he nods and says ”follow me” he turns and walks across the clouds with Balto following him.

On Earth Jenna is making some bread when she feels a shot of excitement run through her heart she drops the bread dough and puts her paw to her heart and says “oh my” she feels her heart beat faster just then Kodi walked in and notice his mother standing in the kitchen with her paw over her heart and said “mom are you ok” she turned to him and could see the worry flicker in his eyes she takes her paw off of her chest and says “yeah I am fine” Kodi nods and says “where is Aleu and Dusty” she replied “they are out for a walk and won’t be back for a while” Kodi turned from her and strode into the living room and sat down in the brown armchair Jenna turned from him and picked up the dough she looked at herself in the kitchen window seeing a red blur with brown eyes staring back she said “Balto.”

Back in Heaven Kenai lead Balto to Heavens Gates and said “ if you go through these you will go back to earth” Balto looked at the gates and at his bro and said “ aren’t you coming” he replied “nah I like it here” just then a golden retriever strode over to them and said “which one of you is Balto” Balto “said “that’s me” the golden retriever said “ you know you dying to save others might be viewed as a selfless act but here it is viewed as sort of being selfish because you left those who loved you behind and have caused them great pain with your passing” Balto was taken aback by this and replied “how may I fix this” the golden replied “go to Earth and stay there to fix all that you have caused to those you love then you will have two choices remain there or come back here” Balto nodded and said “ I wish to remain there” the golden nodded and said “once you step through those gates you will return to your body and will be able to live again” Balto looked at his bro and said “goodbye” he hugged his brother and stepped through the gates and was immediately sucked down a bright tunnel he looked down and saw his body laying on a beach he lands inside of his body his eyes open and he is blinded by a bright light and says “the sun” he stands up and brushes himself off and stretches his bones crack and he says “good to be back” he looked around and drew in the sea air into his lungs and said “I missed that” he exhaled he turned around and walked off the beach and continued to walk until he ran into a small town he went into the local bakery and bought a muffin he ate it.

Brigham pulled his car into the little town he got out and went to the store as he came out he noticed a grey dog with yellow eyes walking along the side walk and he put his groceries in the car and followed behind the dog until he stopped and turned around and he saw that it was Balto. He said in a stunned voice “Balto is that really you” Balto replied “yes it is me” Brigham hugged Balto and said “but you died on the Britannic” Balto replied “I did but they allowed me back I was miserable in Heaven I was always thinking about you and my family” Brigham replied “ wait till Jenna sees you she will be thrilled” Balto took a step back from him and said “how is she” Brigham replied “she is fine but she is still in a rough shape over your passing” Balto replied “ well I am back and here to stay” Balto and Brigham walked over to Brighams car and they drove to Belfast they stopped in front of Baltos old aparment and said “I forgot how it looked” Brigham replied “come on” he opened the door and walked through the thresh hold and saw Jenna standing in front of the stove making some bread he strode over to her and said “ what are you making” Jenna replied “brea..” she stopped and thought “it cannot be” she turned around and saw Balto standing behind her and said “ it is not possible’ balto replied “it is” he held out his paw and she took it and felt it and she realized he was really there she collapsed into his arms crying Balto said “I am here it is all right” just then Kodi, Aleu, and Dusty walked in a saw Balto standing there holding Jenna and Kodi said “ it is not possible” Balto turned to his son and said “It is me” they all ran into his arms giving him a hug and Balto said “I missed you all.” Balto just by returning from the dead fixed the damage that he had done and showed to all that love never really dies.
