back, I just can’t” Hope whispered as tears ran down her cheek.

“Are you sure?” Copper asked as he lifted his paw from the blood pool.

“Go on, you have to help Josh, I can’t stand to see anything that reminds me of Boomer ever again” She sighed as she watched the others leave with Josh hanging on what was left of the sled.

“Good bye Boomer, I will never forget you” She whispered as she kissed him and ran away.

Hope had been wandering alone all winter, ever since Boomer died, she had felt so alone. She didn’t want to return to Nome, because everything there reminded her of her time with Boomer. As she walked in the cold snow she howled for her loss, but nobody ever howled back. Hope looked terrible; she hadn’t eaten a proper meal since she had left the team. She had been raised up of a human since she was little and didn’t know how to hunt; all she ate were some leftovers she found in the snow.

“Boomer I can’t do this” She screamed out as she sat on a cliff.

“I could jump, then I will be with you again” She thought as she looked down the cliff. Hope closed her eyes like she would jump and started to run toward the cliff, but suddenly she hit something soft and warm. She opened her eyes slowly and saw a large wolf standing in front of her smiling. Hope backed away slowly and sat down. From the hill around them a large group of wolfs came walking to them.

“Come!” He said in a deep voice and Hope found a familiar feeling coming over her. She walked after the wolf up to the mountain as the other wolf howled. And finally Hope felt that she was at home.
