thunder just turned to face the wall, hoping they wouldn’t see him, but salt did see him and edged pepper to come his way, “well if it aint old thunder!” this was the first time he had herd only one speak at a time, but thunder looked away ashamed of himself “look guys I know how angry you must have been when I left you but…” the twins interrupted “ look you had an opportunity and you grabbed it, we say good for you pal” then pepper fitted in “ but ice wasn’t to happy when you left!” then salt continued “ yeh especially when buck was taken away by the catchers on the same day!” thunder hadn’t forgotten about ice, he’d been dreaming about her the first six months after he left, but buck had gone! “Bucks gone, because of me?” the twins looked at each other “ yeh, and dogs kind of go crazy in that place so if he come’s out don’t expect him to be forgiving” thunder gulped at this “ hey your in good shape” salt changed the subject but thunder was to traumatized by what they had said they continued there way finishing “ nice to see ya buddy”.

The next day josh went to school and his mum and dad went to work, this was his opportunity to see ice for the first time in a year, he snuck out of the dog flap and ran all the way to town, he had still memorised the trail to the mattress yard, when he got there no dog was there, about to turn away, he saw a little brown tail fold over a mattress, he wagged his tail and shouted out “ICE?” she then bobbed up her head “ thunder!” she leaped off the mattress and ran over to him, “wow you’ve got a collar and everything” he noticed that she was a bit saddened by this, she turned away slowly and headed back to her mattress, thunder felt he had betrayed her “ice, look im sorry about what happened, I was a pup and I loved to explore, I didn’t mean to course so much damage!” ice turned around “ no you didn’t mean to, but you did! Because of you one of my best friends I grew up with is in some prison” she looked angry as ever and turned away “ ice, ill get him back for you! I promise” she started to cry, on her mattress, thunder went over to her and snuggled by her, she started to smile “thank you”.

In the morning Thunder woke up to a good start, he galloped into town and searched all the dull buildings in town to see if it was a dog prison. At mid day he had searched for four hours and was about to give up. Walking to the edge of town on his way home he heard barking, he looked to see a door at the side of an ally way, with the blue and yellow van outside. The door was open and thunder took his entrance in, he walked along the long slimy walls until he got to hear vicious dog barks. Gulping he kept on walking crossing paths in front of cold-blooded killers. He got right to the end to see a rottwieler lying down, knowing there was no hope. Thunder barked at him, suddenly buck raised his head and shouted “THUNDER!” he got up and started to wag his tail, “boy am I glad to see you” thunder just realising he couldn’t get in said “ well don’t get your hopes to high just yet” thunder started to tackle the fenced door, “ya cant do it like that” told buck, but just then thunder remembered his training class, ‘ one paw out, one claw out’ he had just learned and thought he’d give unlocking the key hole a go, he tried the first time and he failed but the second time he twiddled his claw around and success, he had done it! Buck had outrageous muscles and nearly smashed the door against the wall opening it. Both the dogs there, ran out and didn’t stop until the got to the mattress yard out of breath! Ice saw buck for the first time as an adult “BUCK!” she shouted in glee, she ran up to him and started giving him hugs all over. Thunder was glad that he made her happy, but he didn’t feel happy himself, he turned away slowly and headed out of the yard. She noticed this and took off after him as buck was checking out his new home, “THUNDER” she called after him, he turned around and came face to face with her, “thanks, im sorry for the go at you earlier, you’re a real hero” she gave him a little lick on the cheek and ran back to the yard smiling back at him. Thunder took off happy as ever, but buck saw the lick, and began to get angry. As thunder walked home with a smile on his face Buck caught up with him, “hey buck” thunder greeted in a friendly way, but buck stood in front of him “ heh, thunder look pal if ya wana go lock me up and save me from a dog prison go right ahead” buck’s face was now only an inch away “ but you come between me and my girl, you’ll be one dead Labrador” buck walked away, Thunder was confused, ‘his girl?’ were they a couple? Later that night thunder couldn’t sleep, he ran out the door flap and went to go see ice. When he got to the mattress yard he tried whispering for her by the fence, not to let buck hear. He heard a deep mad voice behind him that moment “looking for some-one?” thunder was wasn’t afraid but was still regretting his decision, slowly he turned around, “hi buck, hey a matter a fact I am looking for some-one and heck, ITS NOT YOU” buck opened his eyes wider, a bit surprised how confident he was. Buck got angry and started showing his teeth and growling, “STAY AWAY FROM HER” he barked and tackled thunder with his charging shoulders. Thunder began to get angry; “ she’s NOT yours!” he leaped onto him and started sinking his jaws into bucks skin and scratching deep scars into the side of his stomach. All buck could do is run around in circles but manages to grab a hold of thunders right leg. Thunder was in deep pain but still wasn’t letting go, he started to scratch down bucks face to ease dome of the pain off it, but it was unbearable, he leaped off and was out of breath. Now buck and thunder were five meters apart, it began to rain and the stayed in there positions for some time, salt and pepper came around the corner and ice came from behind buck “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” buck just noticed she was there, he picked her up from the neck and threw her near where thunder was “your in love with him aren’t you ice, AREN’T YOU!”

Her shoulder was bleeding and she didn’t reply, thunder went over to comfort her but then buck raised his head showing all his canine teeth “DON’T TOUCH HER!” he began to charge but thunder dodged him and buck fell on to and collapsed the fence, thunder was so angry now he turned to face him and barked once furiously at him!

He barked five times when a streak of thunder electrocuted the fence that buck was laying on. Salt, pepper, ice and thunder watched as buck was being hit by lighting! And after 10 seconds the rottwieler was dead. This time ice didn’t cry, but she still had remaining trickles from when they were fighting. She looked softly at thunder, smiled and then took one step to cuddle into his sweet smelling fur. Salt and pepper were watching this and both lipped at the same time “ooooo” ice just remembered and looked at him “did you create that thunder?” then thunder looked puzzled “I think I did!” ice looked as if this was the biggest event in her life! “hey why don’t I take you lot to my house” pepper and salt strongly disagreed but ice had a straight answer “yes”. Thunder and ice walked off (well thunder limped), pepper and salt looked at each other “wait for us!” the twins ran after them, as soon as the four dogs came home josh had his friends around, they were twins! As soon as josh saw the other dogs he and his friends ran to them, “mum!” he shouted and both the twin’s mum and his mum came rushing out of the conservatory “thunder brought home tree strays” both josh’s friends hugged pepper and salt “mum there stay can we keep these two?” the mums looked at each other “are you sure there stray?” “Yeh mum please” both josh’s twin friends said at the same time, there mother thought for a second the said “you better take care of them!” both the twins rushed to hug there mother and started to celebrate “ but josh looked at the pretty dog next to thunder, he knelt beside her and spoke to himself “I wonder if this dogs a stray?” and started to stoke ice, which she quite enjoyed, “joshes mum stood next to him and reading his mind said “yes you may keep her” josh stood up “really!” and hugged his mum, he wasn’t the only one that was happy , thunder started running around with joy and ice joined him and then ice entered her home for the first time…

6 months later…

In the living room the ice and thunder were sitting beside the fireplace resting on another but there was a difference. Five puppies were lying beside ice snuggling up to their mother, and thunder looking proud as ever didn’t take his eyes off them, salt and pepper visited regularly much fatter and happier and even piper visited thunder in his garden and you know what, he couldn’t of been happier!
