The winged wolf

I am the most superior of my kind.
With a huge and clever mind.
Quick to jump and large in height.
Beware of me as I can bite!
Look high above to see me fly.
And below your feet where there I lie.
My eyes see you. Do you see me?
My ears detect your sounds you see.
Caribou, squirrels and rodents I eat.
See me rest on delicate feet.
The wings that keep me in air.
Are smooth as silk or baby’s hair.
Am I pretty? Who’s to say?
It depends on how I feel that day.
For I must protect myself you see.
How ugly I can appear to be.
My body grows and shrinks each day,
To stop me being easy prey.
My colouring is made by you,
As it is your eyes you see me through
