staring into space, and looked around. Jenna and Aleu looked at each other and walked forward, trying not to go back into the water.

 

“Balto?” Jenna asked. Balto didn’t reply.

 

Then, Balto lept up and attacked the bears face, it got up and threw Balto onto the cliff, he scratched at the side to stay up, and bear roared into his face. Aleu ran over and picked him up, placing him on the remaining bit of dry land.

The bear jumped at Balto, but Jenna quickly ran into the side of it, hitting the bear down into the water, it fell down, and they heard a splash.

 

“Oh no! If the water is that high… then… KODI!!” Aleu screeched.

 

Jenna and Balto followed her, and immediately realized what had happened.

Dusty stood at the top of a cliff, on a tiny bit of grass, absolutely soaked. She laid down and shivered. She went into a dream…

 

“Kodi? Kodi!” Dusty was shouting, Kodi was being carried downwards into the gorge and fell down into water, then she saw the bear falling, dead, beside him. Dusty saw herself in water, about to drown, when…

 

“Huh? EEP!!” Dusty yelped, as she looked around, half of her body was in water.

 

She couldn’t swim, her paws were too numb from sleeping, and legs too tired from swimming. All that she could do was howl for help, and that’s what she did.

The water was half way up Dusties neck, that was when she gave up hope, and let out one long howl, until being pushed under the water.

 

 

Down in the gorge, Kodi lay silent in water, red water. He was bleeding heavily, as if he had been murdered. But as if by magic, his ears lowered, and tail swished as Dusties howl reached him.

 

*Dusty* He thought, and his orange eyes opened.

 

Kodi swam upwards, in pain because of the blood, but carried on swimming. His head poked above the water, and he puffed out and inhaled breath, but quickly got back on track, swimming towards Dusty. The cliff was too high up for him to reach, so what could he do? It wouldn’t be possible for Jenna, Aleu or even Balto to reach her, so it was up to Kodi.

 

“Dusty…” He whispered to himself, as he saw her plunge down into the water infront.

 

Kodi let out a long howl and dove under, he swam downwards, to see Dusty being pulled away from him. Kodi looked around and saw the cunning trickster behind him, a.k.a, the fox. She swam beside Kodi, and wrapped her tail around his legs. Kodi couldn’t shout under the water, and saw Dusty falling down.

Kodi growled and pulled away from the fox, but she kept on following him, tripping him as she went. The fox laughed and turned into smoke flying above the water. Kodi watched her and heard Aniu in his head.

 

“Trust in yourself…” She said.

 

Kodi’s expression looked as if he knew what he had to do, and he quickly shot down underneath the water, grabbing Dusties scruff. He threw up onto a rock, although most of her body was under, her head remained above. Kodi smiled as he held her paw, but slowly, he sank down, leaving Dusty on the rock, Kodi was still smiling though.

 

“Dusty? Kodi!” Balto yelled and he grabbed Dusty, pulling her onto his back.

 

“Balto, I can’t swim anymore!!” Jenna yelped.

 

“You can do it Jenna!” He yelped back.

 

Jenna struggled up, but managed to stay afloat.

Aleu swam across, and looked around.

 

“Where’s Kodi?” She asked.

 

Balto looked back.

 

“I… Don’t know…” He told, worried.

 

Jenna swam and stared.

 

“Aleu, shouldn’t you be getting back to your pack?” Jenna asked.

 

Aleu nodded and said her farewells, then, swam away, slowly, out of sight, to return to her remaining pack, that helped her out of the water, to safety.

 

Dusty slowly opened her eyes; she had seen what Kodi had done.

 

“Kodi saved me” She whispered.

 

Balto looked onto his back.

 

“What?” He asked.

 

Dusty explained everything to them and then looked into the water and sighed.

 

“He’s..Gone” She squealed in a high-pitched voice, trying not to cry, but tears ran down her cheeks and she started to wail and weep.

 

Just then, the water began to dry up, everything was becoming grass again, flowers were blooming and the sun was shining, drying everything. Balto smiled as he looked at the sun, and the turned, quickly fastening his head on one spot.

 

“No…” He whispered and jumped down into the gorge, off of rocks, with Jenna and Dusty following.

 

They stopped, and saw Kodi lying on the ground, in a puddle of, not water, but blood, he still bleeding. Balto stepped back with Jenna as Dusty stepped forward. Jenna began to cry and tears welled up in Balto’s eyes. Dusty leaned over Kodi’s body and let out a long howl, as her tears hit his face. All of them began to howl, and behind them was a cool breeze, they turned, and saw Aniu.

 

“Well done… He sacrificed himself for you, and everyone knows, that when a sacrifice is made, by someone who has done good, they shall be…” But Aniu stopped, she howled and ice surrounded Kodi, lifting him up, he disappeared into the clouds.

 

“No! Kodi! Stop! Please!!” Dusty cried, but Aniu disappeared with him, “Kodi!” She wailed.

 

Balto lifted one eyebrow and looked at Jenna.

 

“Follow me!” He told with a smirk on his face.

 

Dusty looked confused, but ran alongside him.

Ralph and Kirby looked at each other, as light filled their den.

 

“Uhh.. Kirby.. I’m not too sure about this..” Ralph told.

 

Kirby looked at Ralph angrily.

 

“DO YOU THINK THAT I KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON EITHER?!?!?!” Kirby yelled. Ralph bit his lip.

 

In front of them, was a red body, slowly forming, it was Kodi, still lying down, but he had no cuts or anything. Kodi lifted his head and looked around, light still surrounding him. Outside, Balto ran into the den, with Dusty and Jenna, Dusty ran up to Kodi but didn’t touch him because of the light. In the clouds, Aniu’s face appeared, she laughed, and clouds covered her, it began to snow.

The light around Kodi disappeared, and Dusty ran around him, both of them barking and laughing.

Jenna and Balto leaned into eachother.

 

“Just like us, hey Balto?”

 

“Exactly like us”

 

 

They stopped suddenly and gazed into each others eyes. Kodi smiled and they leaned forwards, their lips poised. When Boris slammed open the door.

 

“Help! Help! Muc and Luc! Big trouble!!” Boris cried.

 

Kodi and Dusty laughed with each other, as a big white polar bear grabbed Boris by the neck.

 

“Ready?” A small polar bear asked.

 

“No, I am NOT ready!” Boris yelled.

 

“Full velocity, Muc!”

 

“NOOO!!” Boris cried.

 

“SLOSH!!” Luc yelled and splashed his paws in the water.

 

Muc came running in and jumped up, diving, and making a huge splash. Balto, Jenna, Dusty and Kodi watched happily, getting wet at the same time.

 

“This why, I do not play game with Stella!” Boris told.

 

“Why? I like this game!” Laughed a female goose in front of Boris.

 

Boris gulped as he gazed at Stella.

 

“Come on, hot stuff, lets go and have a swim” Stella told, “you coming, boys?” She called to Muc and Luc, they nodded and followed them into the water.

 

“Stella, they can’t swim” Boris whispered.

 

“Don’t you think I know that from last time? Look at them” Stella said.

 

Beside them, Muc and Luc were both swimming with ease.

 

“MY BOYS CAN SWIM!!” Boris yelled.

 

“Oh, thanks Uncle Boris, we would never have been able to do this without you!”

 

Boris smiled, and they swam off.

Balto, Jenna, Dusty and Kodi, sat on the edge of a cliff, watching the sunset. Balto turned around to see Aleu standing there.

 

“Is it ok, if I come to stay with you?” Aleu asked.

 

Everyone smiled and made a space for her to sit with them.

 

“What about your pack?” Kodi asked.

 

“They said, that my home, is not with them, it’s with Aniu, and Aniu lives with dad, inside him, and so that’s where I must be” Aleu told.

 

“What, inside him?” Dusty asked.

 

“Ouch!” Balto laughed.

 

Aleu pouted and then laughed. They all sat staring over the cliff, when Jenna sighed.

 

“Kodi, did you ever say goodnight to your dad?” Jenna asked.

“Oh yeah!” He laughed.

 

Kodi walked to the side and bumped into Dusty, he fell ontop of her, and gazed at her eyes. Each of their eyes shimmered. There was a long pause.

 

“I love you” Kodi whispered.

 

“I love you too” Dusty told.

 

They leaned together and kissed, holding it, happily. Jenna and Balto sighed, looking at them and Balto looked up. Jenna sat next to him on the cliff.

 

“Ready?” Balto asked.
