Dusty kept track of supplies, The Britannic stopped at the island of Moudros where the Britannic picked up soldiers who were wounded in the Gallipoli Campaign. Jenna rushed around the ship preparing the beds for the wounded while Aleu checked on the medical supplies Dusty helped Aleu, The wounded numbered in the thousands they were covered in bandages and bleeding some were so badly wounded they were to weak to raise their limbs. Jenna walked past a line of wounded who were on their way to the critical ward one of them she recognized. He had a bandage wrapped around his chest and leg his beautiful red fur like hers was caked in dirt and mud he was her son Kodi, Jenna said ”oh Kodi what happened to you” but he didn’t respond she stood in the hallway and watched as he disappeared from view she thought to herself “I must tell Balto” she turned and ran down the hall into the Grand Staircase and took the stairs to F Deck where she ran down a hallway and went down a flight of stairs to G Deck and proceeded to the Firemens mess and saw Balto and Brigham eating. Balto turned and saw her she was crying. He stood up and walked over to her and said “what is it” she fell into his arms and said “Jenna what’s the matter”she looked up into his face and could see the worry flicker in his eyes, she said”I have seen Kodi he is in rough shape” Balto let go of her and said “He is here on this ship where” she replied “he was taken to the critical ward” Balto said “take me to him.” Jenna lead Balto to the Critical Ward which was a room that was covered in beds in neat rows and on one of them he spotted his son who was lying on one of the beds, they hurried over to him and Balto said “Kodi what happened” he didn’t reply his eyes remained closed and he never spoke a word. Tears started to well up in his eyes but he fought back them and said to himself “he isn’t dead Kodi wouldn’t let himself be killed” Balto bent down and placed his ear on Kodis chest, he could hear the slow beating of Kodis heart. Balto signed in relief he looked down at Jenna who looked up at him and he said “he isn’t dead I could hear his heart beating” Jenna replied “that’s good” she took Kodis paw and held it. Balto and Jenna visited Kodi everyday, they cleaned his fur of the mud and put on fresh bandages to replace the old ones.

One day when they entered the ward they saw that Aleu and Dusty were speaking to Kodi, Balto and Jenna rushed over to them Kodi said “ mom and dad is that really you” he looked at them and tears appeared in his brown eyes Balto and Jenna hugged him and he said while smiling “not to hard” they both let go of him and Balto said “what happened to you” Kodis mood suddenly went from being friendly to being serious he said “ we were ordered to take a Turkish trench and hold it until reinforcements would come to help us, when we climbed out of our trench the shooting began, people were falling all around me ahead of us was a wall of fire pouring bullets into us we got within fifty yard of their position when I was shot. All I can remember was looking at my chest and seeing the blood and thinking “this is it” I hit the ground but my arm was hit and I couldn’t move I spent most of the time trying to move myself back to our lines with my only good arm but my strength gave out on me. I rolled on to my back and everything spinning around and it became dark the last thing I could remember was the sound of my heart pounding and thinking of home and everything that I had left behind.” Balto looked at his son and said “well at least your safe and here with us now” Kodi looked at him and said “ I was a fool to think that could handle going to war and leaving everything behind that I loved and cherished” Kodi looked at his mother who was crying tears of joy she said “Kodi you are here and not there on some battlefield dead try not to think so much on the past now and think about what will happen in the future” she hugged him Aleu and Dusty stood by crying then “ Aleu walked up to her brother and said “ good to have you back bro” she hugged him as well.

Kodi remained in the critical war for one more day the wounded were taken off of the Britannic and transferred to hospitals on land, Balto was able to get Kodi a job as a stoker where he would work with him and Brigham in the boiler room. Kodi was very good at be a stoker he shoveled the coal into the roaring fires like the coal were not even heavy, After their shift was up the once again climbed the spiral staircase where they all ate dinner and once they were done they showered the coal off of their bodies and climbed into bed. Kodi was now sharing a room with his father and Brigham. The days rolled on then far to the south of the Britannic the U-boat U73 was laying mines off the coast of Kea island near Greece the Britannic’s course took them right to where it was laying mines. The date was November 21st 1916 8:12 am Balto and Brigham were still asleep and Kodi was walking along with his friend Dusty, Jenna and Aleu were keeping stock of medical supplies when an explosion rocked the ship. Balto was thrown from his bunk Brigham immediately sat up and said “what was that” Balto replied “ I don’t know,” Kodi and Dusty were thrown into a wall and Kodi said “ what was that” he turned to Dusty who had a cut at the top of her eyebrow and said “whatever it was it has stopped” she looked around and then at Kodi he looked down at her and could see the fear in her eyes. At the time the explosion happened Jenna was grabbing a role of bandages and Aleu was leaning against the wall with a clipboard in her paws, all of the sudden the explosion rocked the ship and Jenna was thrown into a shelf covered in medical supplies the glass bottles of ether and morphine were thrown from the shelf and smashed to the floor their contains spewed all over, Aleu was thrown to the floor and the clipboard she was holding flew from her paw and flew across the room and hit the wall in front of her. Jenna walked away from the shelf she had been thrown into and brushed off the glass from her fur and bandanna she walked over to Aleu who was getting up off the floor Jenna said “what on earth was that it felt someone and shook the ship” Aleu replied “ whatever it was it must have stopped lets go back to keeping track of the supplies” she walked over to the wall and bent down and grabbed her clipboard, just as she did this the emergency alarm went off. Jenna and Aleu looked at one another and Jenna said “we best look for your father and brother” Aleu nodded and they both walked out of the supply room with the emergency alarm blaring in their ears. Balto and Brigham were getting dressed when the alarm came on Balto said “ It must be really bad if the alarm is going off” he said as he pulled his suspenders over his shoulders Brigham replied “ whatever it is I am not staying around here to find out” he walked over and grabbed the bulky life jackets off the top of the wardrobe dresser and pulled one over his head and tied the straps around his waist and then tossed one to Balto saying “you might need this” Balto caught the lifejacket and looked at it he thought to himself “something really is wrong if I have to put on one of these” Balto said “thanks” and put it on and tied the straps just then there was a knock at their cabin door Balto walked over to it and pulled it open. A man was standing outside of it and he said “we need every available crewman to report to the boiler rooms to help us pump out the water and keep the fires going, the Captain is trying to ground this ship on the island of Kea” The crewman walked down the hall and disappeared Balto turned to Brigham who had a look of surprise on his face and Balto said “ well we better get to it” Brigham nodded and they left the room and walked toward the boiler rooms.

Up on deck people were already starting to lower the lifeboats without the captains orders some of the lifeboats were sucked into the propellers of the ship and everyone in these boats were killed, inside the ship Jenna and Aleu were confronted by a steward that said they should go back to their rooms and put on lifejackets and report on deck, Jenna and Aleu made their way to their room the hallway was jammed with people many wearing lifejackets all of them looked confused and frightened Jenna found the lifjackets in the wardrobe closet and she put one on and so did Aleu, Jenna said “we should find Balto and Kodi” Aleu replied “ Kodi is with Dusty and they went for a walk 10 minutes before the ship was rocked” just then Kodi and Dusty entered the room Kodi said “ whats happening” he said as he looked at his mother Jenna replied “ we are to put on lifejackets and report on deck at least that is what a steward tolled me and Aleu” Aleu nodded and said “ have you seen papa” Kodi shock his head and said “no I haven’t” Kodi walked over to the closet and pulled a lifejacket over his head and tied it around his waist Dusty did the same.

Far below Balto and Brigham were hooking up huge hoses to the pumps they were drenched in sweat and water, Balto raised his arm and brushed the sweat off his eyebrows with his paw he looked around and noticed that the ship was tilting to the starboard(right) side and looked around the water was already up to his waist he said “this is hopeless if we don’t get out of here were going to drown” Brigham replied “I agree with
