"Please... Let her live." A male voice called, he seemed petrified. "Our only pup... let her live!" A female voice called a second after the male. "Oh, Akiak... what if she doesn't make it?" The female voice called, the male seemed to be named Akiak. "I don't-- no! She's going to make it. She's going to make it..." Akiak stood up, licking the cheek of the new born pup, the pup winced at the lick, the eyes slowly opened....
"She has eyes of the raging sea, over on the human's harbor. Her fur... the pureness of white snow. I know a name... after my mother... she looks like her. Except she, she is in a way mystical..." The female voice trailed off. She put her paw on the pup's stomach, sighing happily. "I'm glad you made it, young pup, light of my world..." She then got up & faced Akiak.
"What, Kaye..." Akiak wondered. His look of confusion made Kaye giggle. Kaye looked down on their pup, then finally spoke.
"My mothers name was Aniu." Kaye bent down to lick the pup, now named Aniu's cheek.
"Aniu..." Akiak whipered to himself staring at Aniu herself. "She does remind me of your mother, Kaye. Aniu the grape. Great." Akiak smiled, then corrected himself.
"Now, shall we go for a quick hunt? Yuma watch Aniu, ok?" Kaye smiled, giving Yuma, the sister of Kaye a look. "I'm just going not as far as the cave over there, its close anyway." Kaye said in a soft tone. She turned around then began to trot with Akiak at a fast pace.
"Stupid wolf." Yuma exclaimed. Yuma looked down at Aniu, gave a look of disgust. "You aren't worthy of the name Aniu. Aniu was great, I should know." Yuma bent down to touch her nose with Aniu's. "Dumb pup.. your not worthy of everyone's faith.." Yuma's voice climbed in anger.
"Stupid? You call the one reflected off me, stupid? Oh, daughter Yuma. You've mistaken this younger Aniu. She will replace me once its her time, I must take her." A familiar voice to Yuma called out of nowhere. "Aniu will have the mist..." The voice said calmly, as a form of fog came before Yuma. Aniu, the grandmother of the younger Aniu appeared. This Aniu, however, was brown. Her eyes were also a maroon color. "Aniu," Mother of Kaye called to Aniu, who lay on the ground with her eyes shut.
Yuma seemed to strugle a little'Should I let mother take Aniu? Or defend?.. Kaye will be upset either way.' Yuma thought, she then stood up to her mother. "Mother, you cannot take Aniu." Yuma's voice was so stern, & demanding.
"Why? Why shall I listen to one so stubborn." Mother of Yuma & Kaye growled.
This frightened Yuma, she looked up to her mother with sorrowful eyes. "I thought you were worthy, I thought you were the caretaker of all wolves. I guess I was wrong." Yuma growled aloud, then tackled her mother.
Aniu flew from her grandmother's grasp, then landed on the ground with a heavy breath.
"Don't be so blinded!" Her mother yelled. "I am simply leading Aniu where she must go!"
"Why so demanding?!" Yuma cried out. "What will you do? murder Aniu?" Yuma began to snarl. "Aniu just survived a sickness when she was born! We need to treat her."
"I have treated her. I made sure she stayed alive..." Their mother was lying at this point as she lay on the ground, Yuma pinning her down. "I must get this pup away from here."
Suddenly, a mother with her new born pup walked by.
"Right on que." Yuma's mother said before she disappeared into a white mist.
"Could you give me some shelter? Please?" The mother asked, pointing at her already cold pup. "He was born two days ago, please. Hes trembling in cold. My fur isn't thick enough." The mother exclaimed.
"Identify yourself.." Yuma said suspiciously.
The mother then identified herself as Tailyan. Her son, also named Talon.
"Talon sure is, uh, growing up fastly." Yuma said after their discussion. Talon was already the two month size. Tailyan then agreed.
"Yes, he is growing fastly.." Tailyan laughed with a smile.
Kaye & Akiak then came home, they each met Tailyan & pup Talon.
In time, Tailyan had a cave next to Akiak, Kaye, Aniu & Yuma. They all got along well, Talon & Aniu getting along perfectly......
--------1 short year later...--------
"Talon !" Aniu exclaimed as she came from behind her cave, almost fully grown from the last time she'd been seen.
"Shush Aniu..." Talon whispered as he pounced onto a rabbit, snapping at its neck. "Haha! I got a rabbit." Talon was happy with himself then walked to Aniu.
Aniu watched Talon eat at his catch, she looked at her paws as her stomach rumbled. "You know..." Aniu began to talk.
"Have some!" Talon said cutting Aniu off, ripping a piece off for Aniu. Aniu looked up happily at Talon, Talon smiled back. They both began to chew, chew, chew & chew until they were almost done, then....
A sudden crash was heard... screams of pain coming from a group of wolves sounded off. Both Talon & Aniu looked up at each other in fear, they were petrified if it was their parents.
"Mom!" Aniu screeched, running towards the crash.
"wait!" Talon yelled aloud pacing behind Aniu. Aniu almost ran out of breathe, she stood at a cliff, staring down at a tree.
Her face showed nothing but sorrow & fear.
'This isn't good..' Talon thought as he kept running, seeing the expression of Aniu's face. Talon looked to the ground, beside Aniu.
He looked at her expression, then slowly moved his head towards the way Aniu was looking....
A broken tree had completely crushed both Akiak, Tailyan & Kaye. Yuma was severely injured in the leg, a twig stuck.
Yuma looked around with pain as her expression, she saw both Talon & Aniu with tears in her eyes.
"Mom! Dad! Aunty! Tailyan!" Aniu screamed with tears in her eyes, running down a path to go see them.
Aniu felt like her heart just jumped out of her body, leaving her lifeless. The feeling was horrible.
Talon had never cried about anything before, but he shed a tear of sadness as he stared down at the tree, watching his mother being crushed to death along with Akiak & Kaye. Talon then cried more, only tears falling from his eyes as he quickly bolted over to the tree.
Aniu was digging at the tree roots. "Get off!" Aniu yelled with teary eyes. Her heart fell, literally fell to the dark pits of her mind. "Get off you!" Aniu screamed louder, hitting the tree with pure anger & sadness. Tears showered out of her eyes, screeching at the tree.
"Its too late, Aniu.." Talon sniffled. "Lets help Yuma while we can..." Talon's voice was getting out of it. Aniu nodded as another tear fell, she walked with Talon over to Yuma, but already, she was out of it.
"Yeah lets go help her." Aniu sniffled. "I wanna get out of here Talon! I want to get out!" Aniu screamed running a random direction.
She left Talon sitting there, alone. He looked at the crushed ones in the tree, & Yuma. "Aniu..." Talon whispered. His eyes, felt blinded. Talon never thought he would actually be alone, but now he was.
Turning, walking the opposite way from Aniu, he walked. His head hung low...
--------------- 1 year later....-------------------
Aniu was now, in the outskirts of the Yukon. She wandered for so long, only so far she went. She was miles & miles away from getting close to Alaska. "The adventures of life.." Aniu whispered with a sigh.
She was offically two years old. As Aniu kept walking, her head hit a large object. "Ouch, & what is this?" Aniu's eyes grew wide.
She put her paw on the first carved object. "The bear..." She looked to the next.
"The wolf.." The next,
"The caribou.." One other,
"The fox..." Then another,
"The Eagle..." hmm? What was this? Aniu was offically confused. She moved her paw, hitting it on a little rock. On this rock was a guide. "The bear, Wolf, Caribou, Eagle... life, trickster..." Aniu trailed off, she nodded to the totem pole, her head down in faith. Right away she believed in the stories of these totem poles.
Talon was also somewhere in the Yukon, during a blizzard he eventually turned, then kept walking. He now walks in the snow, a heavier breeze against him, bringing the snow in his face. Talon had a hard time lifting his paws, his brown fur blowing in different directions. His creme colored underside was cold. He, himself was cold. "I haven't had shelter for a long time.." Talon shivered. He kept on, until he seen a large pole, a white wolf sitting infront of it bowing its head down. "That wolf is as white as snow.." Talon shook his head, he then yelled aloud. "Aniu!"
Talon skipped up ahead, bumping into the wolf who was nearly invisible as she blended wiht the snow. "I can spot you anywhere..." Talon took a few huffs of breath before looking up at her.
"Talon.. You're alive?" Aniu's eyes grew wide. She wrapped her large arms around Talon's cold body. "I've missed you. I haven't seen you since..." Aniu looked off to the side with a sigh. Her heart dropped once again, again in a long time. "Anyways..." Aniu smiled up at Talon.
