sniffed the air. "Something's wrong.." he said cautiously and somewhat worried. Alouna sat by him and looked across the peremiter.
She looked closely at the area and saw the changes as well. Shad's eyes widened and he got up and began running. Alouna sprung up. "Oh no, it's happening again.." She said, and ran after him, just like that day way back then...
There was a print of a killer in the mud as Kuna and her brother searched for Alouna and Shadow. Saiige squinted at a far-off gaze and gave a sinister look. "Kuna," he said, "look." Saiige pointed to a white wolf with a shadow figure standing by. Kuna grinned. "That's them." She said, and the two ran forward.
Shad's eyes were not black, he was not in an "issue" like last time; he knew they were near, and wanted to end this before it got the chance to begin. Kuna stopped. "Pff, looks like they found out." She said. Saiige smirked and charged towards Shad. Shadow leaped upwards and landed on his foe's back. Shad tore off some of Saiige's fur and left a bloody patch to take its place. Saiige snarled viciously and threw Shad off his back. "You should'ave thought 'bout that 'fore you did it, kid!" Saiige yelled. He bared his fangs and snapped at the shadow wolf. Kuna watched with enthusiasm and let her guard down. Alouna charged and knocked her to the ground. She panted and Kuna's eyes were shocked and angry; she shouldn't have let her guard down, and how could Alouna get her that easily? Kuna thought she would have seen her coming.
Alouna panted heavily and with a violent manner. Shad lay pinned on the ground by Saiige. Saiige, too, became distracted, but had gripped Shad so tightly that he couldn't initiate an attack. Shad struggled and became tired. The pain inflicted on his body was powerful, and him trying to break free put even more pressure on him. Alouna concentrated on Kuna. Shad's hind legs were still free, and Saiige's guard was still down. He thought that Shad was pinned down completely, and wanted to watch his sister's fight. Shadow hoisted them up, and kicked Saiige in the gut, causing a paralysis, and knocking him over.
Shad panted heavily and walked towards Alouna. She looked at him, Saiige's sister looked at him. Now, his eyes were black as coal once more. Shad growled and Kuna cringed a bit. He continued growling and bite Kuna's leg.
Alouna saw that she needed to attack NOW. She swiped Kuna's face. The vicious she-wolf whined shrilly and fainted. Both panted heavily and saw what they had done. "W-we did that?" Alouna questioned in shock. "I thought they were knocked out-"
"They ARE knocked out. They just look dead, but they still have a strong heart beat. We need to go. If we can take out who's controlling them, they'll run." Shad said. Alouna nodded and the two ran off.
~Chapter 11: War part 2- Confession~
He felt guilty; they had been together for almost all of their lives, and neither knew the truths about each other. Alouna decided that she would get all her strength and tell the rest, Shad would tell her what really happened and would then be as quiet as possible.
Two hours later, Alouna told him.
"... And then when half the pack was dead, I ran, and those assassins caught up with me. They attacked me I narrowly escaped. I managed to knock them out for a while, but they woke up and I fought them many times. Here they are today; even bigger killers.." She finished.
Shad dropped his head slightly and said, "Alouna.. There's something you don't know yet... I lied about my puppy hood.."
"You what??" Alouna said in disbeleif. "Why????"
"I don't know; but I'll tell you the truth right now."
"My older brother, Shiro, and I were orphans. Our parents were shot by hunters and we barely ever spent time with our pack. We went out to get food one day when this black wolf attacked us. Well, the black one was a pup, my age, and there was a light gray and white one with him, about Shiro's age. They attacked, battle lasted forever, gray wolf killed Shiro. I was shocked at this, because he was one of the strongest wolves you'd probably ever meet. I got very med; more mad than I ever was. My eyes went black as coal, and I killed the gray wolf. I tried to get the pup, but he escaped. It was the worst day of my life. Two weeks later, I met you." He said.
Alouna's mouth just hung. "So that's why; you were so outraged that you just went mad for a second, and this still haunts you every day and effects you in battle. Now I understand!"
A twig snapped outside and the wolves' head sprung up, their thoughts interrupted. A black figure snarled at them and they rushed out of the den. There was hardly any light inside, therefore they couldn't picture the wolf. Under the moon light, Shad saw what it was. He attacked. The black wolf was eager and jumped into his challenge immediatly. Alouna watched the two wolves try to get at each other. The black one was tossed onto the ground by Shad.
"Shad, wh-what's going on?" Alouna asked worriedly.
Shadow just panted heavily and strongly. He wanted this fight done. The black wolf snarled many times and seven more wolves came to his aid.
"Wha?!" Shad exclaimed.
"That's right, kid," the black wolf said. "Your days are done."
~Chapter 12: War part 3- Fate and Love~
The seven other wolves growled and leaned foreward a bit. They snapped their jaws every few seconds to issue a warning, ` if you attack this black wolf, you die quicker than you would anyway`. Alouna looked at them with gazing green eyes.
The black wolf looked at Shadow, Shadow looked back. "What do you want? Didn't get it then?!" Shad screamed with much force.
The black wolf smirked and said, "No! I want you dead! You AND that other one. You may have taken out my most 'trusted' first two warriors, and now my absolute best, but you won't take me out quickly."
"Shadow who is he?" Alouna questioned again.
The black wolf looked at her and growled. He ran towards her and knocked her into the cold, wet mud, his paws on top of her. She gave a frustrated look and kicked his stomach like Shad did Saiige.
The black wolf groaned and fell to the ground, but got right back up. He shook the mud off his face and started towards her, once more. Alouna held her ground; she was no coward. She would not run.
Alouna looked at Shad; he stood there like he was paralyzed. "Move, Shad, MOVE!" She thought to herself. She only wish her voice would work so she could tell him. "WHAT DO I DO?!" She thought again. She looked back; Shad was not there.
The black wolf screamed when Alouna gained focus. Shadow had given him a nasty cut on the right side of his body. The black wolf lay on the ground shocked and hurt. The wolves that were the black one's aid, and like the cowards they were, backed up slowly. They believed that you had to be strong to do THAT. And you really did.
"Where do you think you're going??!" The black wolf yelled to the other wolves. "GET BACK HERE!" The wolves looked at each other and fled. The black wolf growled and snarled at Shad. Shadow stood there, ready to move if necessary, but willing to fight. A flash of darkness blinded Alouna, Shadow, and the black wolf. Alouna remained blind for a few moments, but an adult wolf walked between him and the black wolf. Shad growled at him before the wolf snorted at him to stop.
The wolf looked at him and they just stared. The black wolf got his vision back and saw this mysterious wolf. He lunged, but the wolf bit his side and the black wolf fell to the floor. He turned back to Shad and said, "You're related to Shamus, aren't you?"
"Wha?" Shad asked in his puzzled tone.
The wolf groaned. "You don't even know who your father was. That's good."
"That was sarcasm." Shadow said to him.
Alouna shook her head and saw Shad and the wolf. The black wolf lay unconcious on the ground.
"What hap-" She gasped when she saw the wolf. "Who are you..?" She asked for the third time in her life.
The wolf sighed and said, "You'll see. Take care of this problem and you'll see." He ran off and dissapeared just as he did the night he revealed himself to Alouna.
~Chapter 13: Peace At Last~
They carried the black wolf's unconcious body to the river in which they met and threw him in. "That takes care of that." Said Alouna. Shad looked at the sky and he and Alouna walked to a higher spot. Shad stood there looking up, up, up to the stars
There was a wolf imaged in the sky. Shad saw that it looked like the one he had seen earlier. Alouna joined him and stared in awe. They saw the stories of their ancestors, and they saw their enemies defeated. The wolf who had shown himself to them came back as a constellation; a large one, and howled to them. Still confused, an image of two famous wolves appeared to them, their names revealed: "Shamus- brave wolf who took out an entire army of hunters who tried to kill the forest. Stekiah- the real spirit and ruler of the wilderness. Both bold heroes who will be remembered."
Alouna had a resemblence in the wolf, Stekiah; she had his personality, his mind, his heart. Shadow remembered, ``You're related to Shamus, aren't you?`` ``You don't even know who your father was,``. It was meant to happen; the two to meet, be like their fathers, and someday, bring a good life back to their land. They, too, would be remembered when their story is told again and again.
